Good on you for actually giving this kit a proper review: one that mentions the aspects like the useless plastic lid, the dodgy black coating that peels off with use, and the mediocre performance of the green heat gel. The stove element is excellent but I find the kit overpriced for what you get,
Tx for the Video review mate. I do a have a question about the green heat though...when you said it wasn't your favorite because it may not be good for water purification, did you mean that it wouldn;t bring the water to boiling temperature (sea level) at all, or did you mean that it wouldn't burn long enough after bringing the water to boiling temperature? Is the stove capacity large enough for 2 satchets of green heat, and would it burn twice as long if you did so?
@BarefootsChild Tx for watching. To clarify on the green heat gel , the pouches will get water boiling( in my experience 1 pounch will boil approx 250ml of water) how ever more fuel is needed to maintain a rolling boil as is needed for purification. Yes it will hold multiply pouches in the cooker and this will increase the boil time , although this is very bulky in space
compared to what is needed from say Heximine blocks.
cheers for the reveiw on this nice piece of kit, i think i would stick to the plain steel rather than have added teflon in my tea! ha again top vid, take care bro.
@Dark3ndWarrior This hapened when i was using a hexi tablet on a rock stove , this concentrated the heat to one point and in turn melted off the coating. I think a gas stove would be fine as it spreads the heat more evenly , but you should still be aware that it can happen. If in doubt go for the silver one.
@Edzherenow99 Cool vid. I dont like meths when im out with the dog , as he loves to chew on bottles and i coudn't risk it. Great set up if you use it though.
The only price i've been finding for this is 109$ canadian

Mate, if the internal coating is coming off, you might want to use some steel wool to remove all of the internal coating.

I like that cook set. Have you tried it with a pop can alcohol stove?
It would be great if one would fit in the cooker.
hoppy8199 4 months ago
@hoppy8199 I personally have not tried one , but there is ample room to hold a pop can stove.
Tx for watching.
