I don't think it's a good idea to work out so much while in detox. You might want to take it easy and let your body do what it needs to do. As far as protein goes, check out this website, michaelbluejay. com/veg/protein.html (take out the space just before the com/veg...)
Just give it a try for a year. Your life will change for the better. You don't know till you try it. All that protein is damaging to the bones and kidneys. There is plenty aminos in all the raw fruits, dark leafy greens etc. Go to the next level. You can do it. Many are doing it and build strong, lean, bodies.
@NvrTuLate as an active bodybuilder. The multivitamins & protein help to maintain Muscle mass while at the same time completing the building blocks for a healthy nourishing lifestyle.
@EvieBanks Without a source of protein for pre/post workouts (i.e. cardio, weightlifting), the muscles will deteriorate rapidly-- building up with lactic acid (rather painful as are the headaches from the blood as its being cleansed throughout the first several days of detox). Protein aids in synthesis and deep tissue regeneration. Thank You for commenting.
Thanks for sharing your juice fast experience on here! Interesting info about the various fruits and veg you are using. I've been eating raw for a few weeks (with occasional lapses)... I generally have more energy and less cravings for sugary snacks. Have had a few 'detox' headaches, as well, that's been the hardest part. Drinking plenty of water and resting helps :)
@SoulPoiesis Thanks for you comment. Where do you get your source of fats from? This a question that has been often asked to me throughout the day. I understand the brain needs a source of fat to function properly. Also, what do you think the source of the headaches are? Thanks. Chris
@seekperfection For essential fatty acids (omega-3's and omega-6's) I add chia seeds and either linseed (flaxseed) meal or a teaspoon of flaxseed oil to my fruit smoothies. The smoothies are pure fruit - whatever I feel like for example blueberries, raspberries and banana. Sometimes I add half a cup of almond milk. I also add one teaspoon of supergreens powder (spirulina, chlorella). I eat fruit throughout the day... mix of flavours, colours (love colourful raw food!), whatever is in season
@SoulPoiesis Thank You for this valuable insight. I have been told headaches from juice fasting are due to the blood being cleansed. Do you find this to be true?
@seekperfection My understanding (put simply) is that the blood delivers nutrients and oxygen and the lymph system removes waste. When you are eliminating waste effectively, the organs (ie kidneys, liver) are able to work efficiently because waste and toxins are not building up and backing up in the system.
@SoulPoiesis The toxic buildup is stored in cells. Doing a fruit/juice fast enables the body to purify by getting rid of the backlog of waste, then the cells in the body are finally able to start working as they should. Poor nutrition and toxins/waste buildup will cause cells in the body to become "locked"... they no longer take in nutrients and they may hold toxins. Obviously the blood also removes carbon dioxide, so waste also removed this way. Waste also removed through the skin.
@SoulPoiesis It stands to reason that if you are putting a healthy balance of nutrients in to your body, the blood - as the circulatory system - is going to be able to deliver those nutrients around the body and as well as delivering wastes to the correct organs/lymphatic system for elimination. When cells are finally able to release toxic build-up then that waste is moving around in the system before being eliminated... so I guess a cause for headaches/detox symptoms for a while?
@SoulPoiesis Feel free to put me on the right track if my understanding is incorrect... I am not an expert by any means. Just interested and still learning all the time!
@SoulPoiesis ... nuts and seeds are also a good source of fatty acids, and I do snack on them (raw... never roasted), say half a dozen brazil nuts, or a handful of pumpkin seeds. At night I will have vegetables - baby spinach, variety of lettuce (grow my own), capsicum, cucumber, carrot, red onion, pumpkin, sweet potato, garlic, avocado for example. Season with dulce flakes, fresh herbs - parsley, chives, oregano, basil. Some veg meals are cooked (I do raw as often as I can but not 100%).
@SoulPoiesis The headaches - when I first started eating raw (about a month ago) I was really strict, 100% raw and I felt headachy and "fuzzy headed" for a few days. Cut out coffee and chocolate so maybe the headaches were caffeine withdrawal/detoxing toxins out of cells. I also live in a very hot, humid climate and have had no air conditioning, so the worst headaches I'd say are from dehydration and sweating without replacing electrolytes sufficiently.
@SoulPoiesis Hydrating with coconut water and snacking moderately on grapes seems to be helping reduce the headaches. Hot, humid climates certainly increase the risk of hydration deffiency--stay hydrated and I look forward to noting your progress.
I am on day 3 of 56 juice diet and can feel by brain and body reacting to no solid food intake. It's unlike anything I've experienced before. My awareness is incredibly hightened, yet headaches are very common.

Stick with all raw fruits and vegis and lots of them. You won't need all those manufactured/ refined additives and supplements.

don't think the protein powder is a good idea while juice fasting, I'd do more research before doing that. Good Luck!

@EvieBanks For those who maintain an all raw fruits and veggies lifestyle-- Where does the protein come from?
