  • The music playing in the background while JD is talking makes this priceless. Real talk, though. People need to think before forming their opinions.

  • man no-one ever tlks bout how they got on in detail and how they feel indies should do it now to b success for.. yea jd said stick with it..no disrespect but i am a artist with a ablum out called Gator Block and it is a sick album but how do i promote it and get it out here? If i hit the radio its maybe goin to b hot for a couple of weeks like all the other songs. I am thinkin of goin to the clubs n colleges wht you think?

  • Respect for JD for being real enough to read that email out loud

  • wow... j.d. whoever that was that emailed you.. was long-winded lol.. i got tired for you.

  • Brand new Freestyles ever week...Im the Best Underground Artist outta Alabama....check me out, u wont be disapointed....Preciate the love and the hate in advance...

  • who's MGMT??

  • !!! search NAVADA MAC THE WORD FROM UP TOP!!!!!!!!!★★★★★2010 HIT SONG

  • I feel where you coming from JD. I am from Memphis and I don't know who is MGMT is. No I am not in the music industry, just a fan of music period. I just saw a video of LMFAO 2 hrs ago (how ironic you mention them). But ask that dude how long has he been listening to Gucci Mane, Trai D, or even Yo Gotti for that matter. I think with each individual artist, it takes time to reach EVERY state. In this day in age ur lucky to be an overnight success.

  • dear jd and family,

sometimes we gotta say I love the haters..

  • show me an example of JD bein part of illuminatti or Boule..u must be 1 of those 5 percenters that cam outta jail thinkn dat they kno everything smh

  • jd yu r inspiring when yu talk.. :)

  • listen ple, all of these so-called rnb groups are MANUFACTURED, ya heard?? The only on that was singing pure, true rnb was Jaheim! Dya 26??..LMFAO!~ pleaaaaaaaase! All of these groups sound the same!!! where the hell are the pure rnb singers at?

  • JD there is no reason to justify yourself. You did your thing throughout your career. Negga you was getting ascap songwriter of the year like every year for like how many years str8? The Dj's are always gonne get music first. Santigold and Lmfao aren't selling like crazy. The dont even represent the majority of music lovers. So wtf!! was the validity of his arguement.

  • @thewestcoastdiddy he is just considerate

  • Once again I have to say it's not really the industry that is at fault. It's the consumers that are buying into the garbage that permeates the radio. It's not about putting things out cause the industry is gonna put out whatever we r buying. It seems to no longer be about the lyrics but the catchy beat behind some whack ass rhymes. I think JD is relevant but sometimes I feel that he isn't always on the tracks that have worthy lyrical content which to me defines true hip hop.

  • souljah boy, oj the juiceman are wack oj the juice man first hit talks bout selling crack to babies you need to stop promoting wack ass shit..... You got money nigga use your *celebrity* to better humanity stop feeding the machine

  • Amen!!! ballpark didnt say that, the entire hip hop industry just said that...JD got the power to promote real music not just whats "hot" for the moment...JD do what hip hop needs u to or else enjoy the destruction of what you helped build...and its not just hip hop, please bring R&B back too. Im talking real groups not just the teenie bopper bands...and what happened on the track you made for Day 26...they the most talented R&B group out and you didnt do them justice with that track

  • Haven't you been in the game long enough where you got niggas all over lettin' you know what's hot??? Didn't you used to have an office in New York when you were with Def Jam? Not trying to come at you, just trying to understand how someone with your longevity and clout in the game wouldn't have people hippin' you to what's hot and/or relevant today.

  • What Is The Name Of The SOng Playing IN The Background??? Please Tell Me! Thanks

  • Lil More Love by the one and only sexy Johnta Austin sitting on his left hand side

  • ok this got me curious..i just downloaded the mixtape.

  • Nice BG instrumental, what song is that?

  • Which one? i think the second one is Dondria's but its not out yet.

  • the smooth one (1st one)

  • man i gotta young cat that will take it to n e artist u got homie "Ricochet"

  • Yo JD, I was @ Prive this past weekend and just wanted to say thanks for rockin' the 1's & 2's. Dueces.

  • yo jd

what happen to the dem franchize boyz???

  • What do u think happened to them? The Franchise failed. They were a quart of milk and 4 people were eating cereal so that carton is empty now, lol.

  • Does it really matter when you heard it as long as it gets heard? I mean if the key and the ultimate goal is for new artists to become mainstream and be nationally exposed then what type of petty person needs to hate on that. Why squabble about "I heard it 1st, you heard it 1st....etc" the point gentlemen, is that they were heard.

  • What's the instrumental playing in the background?

  • the instrumental is johnta ''lil more love'' on his ocean drive cd

  • The big issue with the music industry is not to have a slow tempo track. I was 80 percent close to being recommended by the C.E.O of Slip N slide records. I had a chance to chat with him about music related. I showed him 3 tracks that were very unique but slow tempo to mid tempo.

  • Mr. Lucas loved how unique I sounded on my tracks, but he also said that he's looking for an artist that would only make club bangers because thats what the young generation is into. So he didn't sign me for that stupidass reason. That's bullshit! I was so devastated that I believe that I would never get sign just because of a slow jam track. A couple weeks later, my homeboy got sign to their mothafucking label.

  • I am glad to see that some many people responded with more than one or two sentences this go 'round. I am not in the industry but know people who are and it comes down to politics and money. But that's in any profession. Keep doing what you're doing JD. I dig how you reached out to dude and asked the he put up the Ocean mix tape and he did not. He could have been breaking you guys to that area.?????? The picture is always different through the E Y E S of another.

  • Basically this is one of the best videos on living the life. It hits so many points about the music industry and why music is not heard nationally by everbody at the same time! Good job JD! I AM THE OCEANS 8TH MEMBER!!

  • Johnta, change that ringtone. U think u batman r something. HA.HA.

  • JD that dudes a hipster obviously and hipsters are only cool for about a couple months anyways......focus on music that is gonna have longevity and replay value after 10-20 years....anything too trendy doesnt last ...It has to be good music first and foremost..I play all the latest dance music and tracks never stay relevant for more than a month ..a year if its absolutely amazing...

  • I personally don't get the negativity "you are late" thing. I don't really go around hating on people. If I don't like stuff I don't buy it. Doesn't everyone who is making a living making music try to stay "relevant" and current? You'd be out of the business if you didn't search Youtube or whatever for artists, but you also run a business. People can't be the first to hear every act out there all over the country/world. I love music, but I don't even know who some of those groups are. So what?

  • I think what he meant by the "You are late" comment was that the perfect time to break an artist is when they are new and the buzz is bubbling, not when the buzz has already started to fade, at the same time JD is right, if it just hit the A then how could u fault him? Hell he probably just added another 6 months to that buzz in another state from that artist/group!!!

  • Thanks for that clarification.

  • he's right you have to be relevant. but also be ahead of your time.. know whats next && hot. soulja boy thouqh ? sounds like jd is tryna plead a case . no excuse to not know whats qoinq on. be current mann dont play the location card

  • oh yeah && its not that you "lost it" or w.e but to stay relevant you have to create the illusion of re inventing yourself. so mix the old with the new . it worked for timbaland && aaliyah . seems like her music could qet played on the radio noww. thats how relevant && ahead of their time they were ddnt jhonta write for her ? you can never qet too comfortable && it takes just as much to maintain as it did to work up to your qoal .

  • Back to bizznes, JD PREACH! You are absolutely correct. The execs are killing the industry. I hear and see talent all day everday and always asking how can I expose this talent. I am always wishing I had the capital to just promote and find new talent. Start Generation Music a new generation of music with new artist that will be the face of music in the next 5-10yrs. It's time for new people and new shyte with the pioneers like you making the music. One day.

  • Johnta, you are so sexxy to me when you are in your quiet laid back mode. Anyway thats neither her nor there. I was chillin over the weekend taking a nice drive and popped in your music and it definitely complimented the ride. Just a reminder that you still have some avid music fans and can't wait for the next album. I am a music connoisseur and truly believe music move the soul. Hope to see you in the booth next with the JD touch. Much Bless

  • Best Livin the Life Video thus far!

    it hit so many points

  • I respect you JD. You was the shit back in the days when you sign so many hotass artist like Kriss Kross, Da Brat, Xscape, Usher, Jagged Edge, The Braxtons, Dru Hill and ect. You also produce records for TLC, Destiny's Child in 97, LSG, Monica, and ect. You be on all them peoples tracks, that's how I know you produced those hits. lol! You and Teddy Riley are my idols, thats how I started making beats very early on. I create a whole another sound than today's sound.

  • This is what I think about the industry these days. These days its all about compeition. There are so many male rappers getting sign than R&B acts. Now days the industry is trying to make R&B sound like hip hop. Rap artists now days are trying to flow just like R&B artists are doing it like T Pain, R kelly, and ect. Rappers don't rap nomore because now they're getting into auto-tunes because of T-Pain, which auto-tune been out since the late 90's when pop artist started the whole dance era.

  • Music recycles as trends do everything comes full circle, althiught dudes are auto tuning now it's the craze but it'll pass and most ppl jump on trends to break new artists, to get a hit or 2 for a current artist or give a fading artist new hope so I feel like all music isn't relevant and beats are a big part of breaking new music but what about great lyrics and melodies? I'm an artist and that's my priority, I may be auto tuned to fit the trend but my song is relevant because I'm saying sumthin

  • The big problem that I have about music these days is the lack of effort in the songs that I been hearing lately. It's not constant you know what i'm saying. I don't agree that music now days is'nt relevant. Although the creativity is there, the melady isn't constant. Everyone is doing the same sound believe it or not. They think if one artist is selling millions on a song that got autotunes in it, means that they could sell as much too if they do autotunes.

  • Comment removed

  • Auto-tunes been around since 97. It started from Country music, and than dance pop got into it, and than pop artist like Christina and Britney Spears. Cher used autotunes too. Auto tunes were only met to do ablids on a song. Auto-tunes wasn't met to sing through the whole damn track. If an Artist holds the note for 30 sec, the auto sound will progress even more. T- Pain does'nt hold a note for more than 20 minutes, in my opinion, he sucks.

  • autotunes has been around since the 70's

  • NO That's not autotunes that they use in the 70's. Funk music in the 70's use vocoder/Talk box (Sonovox), which creates Robot voices. A talk box is an effects device that allows a musician to modify the sound of a musical instrument. It's totally different from auto-tunes. Stevie Wonder made it popular back in the 70's.

  • "Robot voices" became a recurring element in popular music during the late 20th century. The following other pieces of music technology are often confused with the vocoder like the Talk box (Sonovox), which came out in the early 40's. Ring modulation, which was used in music back in 1963 through 1972. And Auto-Tune defines linear prediction vocoders which Initial released back in 97. I'm surprise that no one know's about this.

  • You're actually wrong, back in 97 it was highly used by R&B acts like 3LW, TLC, 702, Brandy, Destiny's Child, SWV etc. I'd argue that autotunes been around alot longer too (or at least the idea of it.

  • Comment removed

  • R&B was consider pop back in the 90's and still is till this day. R&B music at the time were included in the pop catagorie, that's because they connect with many young fans out there. Don't you know pop music had that R&B feel to it? The artist that you mention were young at the time when they started ok. But auto-tunes all started from Country music. Country music made auto-tunes popular, and thats when it traveled from other genders of music.

  • No auto-tunes came out 12 years ago when they used Auto-Tune in performances for Country artist lik Sara Evans, John Michael Montgomery and Gary LeVox of the group Rascal Flatts also rely on Auto-Tune to compensate for pitch problems. However, other country music singers, such as Loretta Lynn, Allison Moorer, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, and Patty Loveless have refused to use Auto-Tune.

  • talkbox (the shit you connect to the keyboard) and autotune are basically the same thing. you cant really tell the difference when you listen to Computer Love by Roger and Zapp, Anything Teddy Riley has ever done with it and todays Hip Slop and R&Bullshit. The only difference may be the pitch of the synthesizer.

    so kingjames you are right

  • Rappers now days are wack no doubt about it. Them songs like bird walk, do the ricky bobby, do the stanky leg, and all that other shittyass music, its so wack that I'm like what the fuck is going on with music today. Why the fuck they got sign? The industry would sign any nigga a music contract. The new artist today ain't got any talent, they ain't got shit to sing about.

  • I don't see them being creative either because that type of music started way long ago when Soulja made it popular. The reason why Soulja made it so far is because he appeals to young girls, young girls find soulja sexy, his lyric content doesn't touch my soul for him to have an affect on me. So really shallow girls now days are making hip hop music stay alive, and guys actually buy their shit too.

  • iam a young girl and i dont like soulja nor so i find him attractive or hot. his dress sence is very high school boyish like, personally think he is too skinny and find him ugly.

sexy is guys like P.diddy who know how to charm and talk to women and the way p.diddy dresses IS WHAT U CALL SEXY

  • 3 of my homeboys from Miami got signed to Sobe, Slip N Slide and Universal records and I haven't got sign yet. I stay true to my sound, and I don't give a ratass if my songs are out of date sounding. Like i'm sick of music. I still be listening to them classics, like Mariah Carey, Shanice Wilson, Tevin Campbell, TLC, Public Announcement, Mint Condition, Xscape, Usher and so on because them music got soul, and it still the shit compare to today piece of shit. Like i'm heart broken.

  • @Nakita4U2Learn omg...you listen to all the good music and i feel the exact same way!!!!

  • you have a point but your comment sounds a little predjudice.

  • What on earth are you talking about? Because I said 80% of black people don't listen to that? lol we don't thats a fact not predjudice. One more thing, how is that predjudice when Santigold is black lol....

  • Comment removed

  • Why is the intro song with JD talking over it,making me sad. Its nice,Im just sad now, lol. I guess its also what the dj is saying. He was kinda mean with it.

I think its actually pretty funny how JD listened and reviewed all of the dude's points and then thoroughly destroyed them with his strong rebuttals. I commend you,JD. You proved your point to the fullest without being nasty with it.

    Good point about the radio.

    Lifer 4 Life!

  • What your doin JD is not big anymore thats what he's sayin your off your game do some research in the underground and stay away from the mainstream he's just speaking the truth.

  • Man this Music industry is a trip ..Unless u gotta hella cake and can travel or ur a open minded listener of Music (Hip Hop) ur probably gonna know who is hot on each coast etc ..Its good artist like Wale in DC or Drake in Canada etc Im from the south and something may be hot in one place but not in others .Gucci Mane/ Lil Boosie may get hella spins down here in the South but not in other places , but thats just how it is ..Im a fan of Hip Hop and Good Music so if its hot play it ..Be Blessed

  • to tell you the truth half the stuff that is out right now is coppied. anyway.. the oceans is diffrent.. A new sound is what it is.. I mean everybodies records sound the same and there is only so much dance that you could do to it. we need change. I aint putting nobody down but .. It's just allot of music is starting to sound the same... keep doing you JD. ... leaders dont need the stress.... give all that to the followers...

  • I'm in STL and i nave no idea who MGMT is....and i heard one song from LMFAO and didn't like it I thought i was stupid....so yeah....keep doing you JD....

  • Sorry..I am from VA..and who in the hell is MGMT? lol

The only way I can hear good music or new music is by having Xm radio!!!!!

  • Who the hell is MGMT??? I would say the over half the south don't know who the hell that is REAL TALK!

  • haha google them there a rock/pop group idk why JD would listen to them

  • WHICH BLOG HE MEAN LIFERS???

  • this song is mad hot

  • Who cares who has heard this and that first....if it's truly hott it's gunna get out....everywhere!!!! Half of the radio shit is whack anyways...and you hear it everywhere...and it's the same damn songs everyday...the way i look at music is pure talent...if u arent truly talented then u shouldnt be in the game....and half of that disco funk stuff makes me mad cuz it's a bunch of crazy sounds with monotone singing voices over them...but thats my opinion....

  • Johnta is extra sexy today.. love the the hat on ya babe

  • they play the same old songs every 60 minutes and they wearing dat shit out

  • GOOD POINT...CUZ UP HERE IN VA...WE DONT HERE NO OCEANS 7...SHIT WE BARELY HEAR TREY SONGZ AND DAT DUDE IS FROM VIRGINIA...LAST BIG SONG THEY PLAYED BY TREY WAS LAST TIME...DAT MAN STILL HAD BRAIDS LOL...I NEVER HEARD OF JOHNTA UNTIL I GOT ON MY LIFER STATUS...ALL THEY PLAY HERE IS LIL WAYNE, GUCCI MANE, OJ DA JUICEMAN and etc.

  • Good point JD

  • I still do't know who MGMT is, neva heard of him/them or wateva

  • I mean the dude had a GREAT point but how was you suppose to know all of that!!! I mean I am from Houston and when screw musicc became big everybody was like WHAT'S THAT!!!! I mean they didn't even know Chamillionaire and Paul wall where a group!!! I mean it's the record company to promote the music but also the artist need to step up!!!

  • True True I lived in Texas ans lived in Houston for almost 10 years.. screw has been bangin long before I even reached the city...but when it hit the masses, we(Tx, Hou) were like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon because these Artist have always out on 4 their city...Aint nothing new!

  • Does anyone know the name of the second song? D:

  • JD got a point cause when i'm in the south i hear certain songs i ain't heard b4 in the midwest, (I'm from thr Chi). N it's vice versa. The south ain't heard of certain artists & songs either. So i think these labels need 2 come up with some kind of strategy to promote artists and circulate their music worldwide at the same time so it won't be late to others in certain areas. U should be able 2 hear a song anywhere in the world at the same time.

  • Real Spit J.D.

  • I agree with u JD. Being that i live in the Metro area of DC both radio stations Suck for real. They both the same old ass wack songs everyday here.We hear alot of stuff late especially from the south i feel. And i love to come south just to hear the radio personally. The way i would find out about artists and their music is through youtube or if i read a article about someone i check them out. Depending on where you are does make a difference in what you hear.

  • point taken jd, same here in san francisco. i hear records late some times too. and im a damn producer as well. lol.

  • last quote is exactly my point. This DJ is getting off on the new electro dance. I like that stuff and was bumpin it years ago in my room but that don't make me special. its apples and oranges. MGMT and all that stuff is cool but its not in the commercial Popular world. They don't have stuff on MAJOR levels. Its wat's hip - Genre Specific. Nothing wrong with that- its APPLES and ORANGES. U r JD u r SOSODEF and make Hip Hop & R&B. Its good enough that you welcome and r open the widening hip hop

  • who is mgmt????

  • YOOooo!!! EVERYONE. search ETRADE27. YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS.----- SERIOUSLY.

  • I agree...I live in Atlanta and I am blessed to have a job that allows me to travel abroad...I honestly cannot say how many times I've gone someplace and wondered "oh, snap, who is that" because we weren't exposed to that particular artist in Atlanta. Music is very regional and people (industry folks) have forgotten that. Tap into to some of these places more andn expose these artists...we're just as open minded in the South as people are any place else, if you give us something to be open abt

  • fuck wut a hata say.. you still doin your thing in the game and you steady puttin niggas on so i fucks wit you for that. yall stay puttin on for the A too...im tryin to make it down to see my fam and see how the night life is down there. imma try to make that happen tho.. stay up!

  • jermaine release secret garden please

  • Wait a minute JD you said that u were a international gentleman, and as much as u dj and travel to vegas and many other cities, how is it that u can have an excuse of I don't get a chance to hear any, some or even all of these up and coming artist? I would have understood a better excuse of I am not in the game like I use to be or even on watch for some of these artist like that anymore. Like u said, u do wear many hats and it would be understandable why you don't catch new comers like u use 2.

  • i hardly listen to the radio, and thats cause technology is takin over and you can download this shit because it gets leaked so effin quick.

and about the respect thing, i have it for you all the time no doubt...

your music JD is hott and shitt but to what it is to relevant, im thinkin aint so relevant anymore from what other artists have been puttin out these days for our generation

from what these people are saying, music segregation is everywhere especially in places overseas...

    xx. holla

  • im in australia, & the music they play here on the stations is only half of what yall have on your stations cos yall in america right & hav the most recent & latest music so i cant really top wat everyone else is saying. but the music here has got stations that are shit, but there is only one station that plays the type of music of what ya'll have on your radio but its like only a quarter of the time.

  • but soulja boy and oj da juiceman suck ass jd. it aint the same thing...

  • Can I just say Johnta is sexy as hell?!

  • I totally agree lol

  • You have to finish this ....LTL..it's so relevant, industry heads want lasting deals and continuos revenue generating artists but will not take the chances need to do so or spend the time developing acts..the simple mantra "You get out ,what you put in"... PLEASE Continue..

  • oh man at first he was going somewhere with this then i lost him

  • Wow I have so much more respect for you JD. You handle those statements like a MAN and said your part without all the bitchassness.

  • Real talk!!!! niggaz got high to yo shit.Partied to yo shit. got pussy 2 yo hits, FUCK DAT PUNK BITCH!!!

  • Music segregation is everywhere for example i travel alot of places i went to kansas no rap or r&b, i went to kentucky no urban music. record company's also have music segregation.. they need to have a station with EVERYTHING.

  • i would call it music segregation, i'm in Miami like i live there but each station i playin one type of music all rap all r&b all rock and so on but if we had a station that had everything, than people would have a different type of music they like.

  • very true the music industry is for lack of better word segregated for example bad boy and bad boy south. no disrespect to puff but was a whole separate division of the company really needed just to put out music in the southern flavor.

i'm from chicago went to school in florida so i got a good mix of both but everyone doesn't have that and again that's the fault of who the music industry.

    very well put JD.

  • YOOooo!!! EVERYONE. search ETRADE27. YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS.----- SERIOUSLY.

  • You're doing an artist a service by even jumping on the record because of who you are. I guess the whole Oceans movement is being done by everybody else & you're late on that too? Yeah right! I can't wait for the real album! F**k the haters! Keep doing you!

P.S. It would be hot if y'all performed "Vegas Baby" @ the B.E.T Awards! That stays on repeat on the ipod LOL!

  • ROFLLL @ oj the juiceman and soulja boy

  • u right, i didnt buy it...

  • I read that s**t on Global 14. That don't matter because the radio sucks now! A lot of stuff that I get hip to, is on the strength that an artist I like is endorsing them. For example, "Electrik Red". I recognized them as being former background dancers in Usher's concert DVD's, but I only started paying more attention to them when I found out The-Dream & Tricky were behind the music.

  • i like the way you handled that. {seemed like it cut you off misd sentence i guess youtube still got that ten minut erule.} but i understand both of your pioints its just a matter of effort put forth

  • yo wtf is cool electric techno dance or wutever the fuck? niggas dnt fuck wit dat shit ..dat shit gay to hood niggas..we fuck wit that club music jd..like dat dj class joint and bmore club music..nigga u kno wut u doin fuck deze hater bra..

  • I swear I was listening to this message but I kept getting distracted...

Why is Johnta so damn cute, sitting there silently co-signin???

  • Hell yeah, I was like damn Johnta fine....looking all sexy in that hat and tee, get it!!!

  • Conflict resolution 101:Dialogue, dialogue,dialogue..way to go JD! I applaud the time/effort that you took to weigh both sides of the case.Determine their argument or what they were trying to say. Then, provide your spin or rebuttal.Lastly, how can we learn or grow from the discussion, moving forward...good video, good stuff

  • I didn't like the Oceans 7 mixtape. I only liked one song.

  • I love the fact that JD reached out to the guy and didnt do like ignorant, cocky people do and just try to retort or diss back. Real adults have discussions and come to an understanding or agree to disagree!! I LOVE IT! This is some grown folk stuff right here!

  • Im fair with it all and i don't agree with JD half of the time but im backing him with this one.....that's the truth let's catch the industry before it hit the ground i know P Diddy got something baking. And what JD has like Dondria dont need to come out yet due to the economy and how the financial world is.. But she's a winner the next mariah for whats coming... so im with him with this.....

  • I agree with u JD some of the people you named I never even heard of and I am in DC...this is one of the best blogs I have seen from yall on a serious note lol...keep up the good work JD and I love the OCEAN 7 Nelly is so sexy lol

  • AHAHAHAHH

you gave it to that lil biatch

  • I understand where you coming from JD. A lot of people just don't understand how music industry works. It's a crazy business! I think you make the best Music! You are so under rated and I don't understand why! I can't stop listening to the Oceans 7 mix tape! It has so many songs on it that I luv so much! Keep doing your thang and I'll keep listening! I Luv you guys♥ LIFER 4 LIFE :-)

  • my favorite blog lus far...and it is so true you cant fault sumone on there knowlegde of music wen you live in a certain part of the world

  • I get wat you saying gd point gd point

  • Thats real True doe. I feel like especially being from VA that sometimes its tuff for everybody to hear what you do. I think that just like with most things if everybody works together for a common interest then everybody can eat and be happy. Same thing with the World.. If all the leaders would come together and lose ego's and just work toward a positive Unified Goal this world would be better. We just need to work together and everybody needs to stop hating, and lying and backstabbing.

  • jd..u're officially the worst reader ever...

it must be frustrating on your kids part for you to read stories to them at night..

  • very good blog man,I think a lot of people are going to wake up however, i do have to agree that kris kross, da brat, bow wow, escape, d4b, and all the other old acts from the 90's and early 2000's seem to be more unique and original than the artists that labels and a&r's are trying to create now. I think the biggest problem is labels, a&rs djs etc are only trying to put their crew on or someone they know thats wack, if that keeps happening unique talent and different styles will never be found

  • totally agree.

ive started to get abit sick of the newish sound.. even when i like some newish sounding songs.

majority of ppl ive spoken to and my friends all miss the old days back in the 90's.

i wish the music industry stayed in the 90's early 2000's era before all the crap new copycat artists came in. lol

like tlc, toni braxton, da brat, missy

  • how much that nigga to the right of u JD get paid for Baby sitting? Tell him to stop being a bitch and finish that drink

  • If JD would have remixed that kid cudi - day n nite i might have never heard it so i thanx you

  • You missing the bigger point here. It does not matter what this ONE DJ thinks but have you ever asked yourself does the MAJORITY of the DJ's think the same thing about you? If they do then you have a REAL big problem. I talk to many DJ's and they say the same thing!! You need to publicly get up with Greg and do something for the DJs..... Spock....

  • are those DJs all from New York?

  • what is the track playing in the background, that is nice.

  • Johnta's song "Lil More Love"

  • black eyed peas are the biggest example I think of JD's point. they'd been in the game for YEARS before they hit mainstream/commercial status. I lived in the UK n I didn't hear of them until "Where is the Love", I'm early on a lot of artists/songs and even they went under my radar for that long. The only way you can be early on EVERYTHING is a) if u have no life b) if its ur job to find and break new artists (which by the way labels dont generally do,dey jst pick up dudes who have an indie buzz)

  • but BEP IS AN EXAMPLE of the crap music we have nowadays...

look at the lyrics of boom boom pow. i was a fan of them when they first came out and when they had their old sound but the new electronic music sounds i feel like are selling out on the real meaninfuly music they used to create.

they used to b original when they first came out but now they r too mainstream just like most artists.

  • he just got to realize your jd and u do music and will touch any sound of musicthat rings your ear it boston stan signing out

  • good points

  • Good stuff JD

    Check out my beats

  • im from Toronto....we are way behind LoL...and who the fuck is MGMT... if anything jd u keep us updated lol!!

  • by jd asking him to put up ocean 7 mixtape and him responding that way...jd basically did what he said jd doesnt do feel me? what he dont realize is he is the dude that is doing what he accused jd of becoming...out of touch. nobody cares who you heard first music snob. get out ya box and understand the world dont revolve around your small ego. 17 summers now count them.

  • great video< i can t wait for the next video

  • HIS BAD!!! lmao Common sense would suggest that if you are an UNDERGROUD artist, still grinding trying to make it, its going to take some time for people to hear you. Most artists, ESPECIALLY hip-hop artists, have been in the game for SEVERAL YEARS before people start talking. He should be happy these people finally made it to your ears. It takes time for music to make it from the bay to L.A. and that's in the SAME STATE! He needs to get off his own dick. SERIOUSLY! Boy bye!

  • WORD! WELL SAID....It's GEOGRAPHICAL!! My dude's a dj in LA and VEGAS the set list are completely different when he spins at HYDE or HOLLY's in LA he can take it anywhere but VEGAS looks for party BANGERS ...Remember VEGAS is now like a world stage everyone EVERYONE party's in VEGAS so basically this dude needs to humble his ego and respect the GAME!

  • exactly...I'm in Florida and I never EVER heard of the people JD named in this video...it's geographical...good video JD...well said...

  • JD check out club europe down the street from the velvet room to hear more of a mix of music.

  • Man i live in Ohio and I really never heard of MGMT

  • theres always more than one way to look at it JD. he looked at it his way and so did you. i think were he is wrong is the fact that he is over thinking it and over analyzing the music game.

  • LMAO @ Johnta's face during the emails reading! Lets keep this going.. I love music business!

  • I kind of feel like something might be missing with some of the music. Some music doesn't feel right to me. I don't always have that feeling when songs start anymore. Dru Hills Sleeping In My Bed remix is great. Hits you off right in the beginning. Ushers-Throwback does it. When a lot of those songs hit you your just happy to hear it & sing along. I miss not having that feeling as much as i used too. If you understand what i mean.

    Much Love/Respect

    =Knile=

  • Do you guys think this a&r managers style have changed over the years of do you just point out a long time problem.

And do you agree that the internet has made some promoters lazy.?

  • PREECH!!!
