(I don't mind *some* sound effects in songs, but there were so many in "Pause" that it made the song a bit too gimmicky for me. Sorry to be a critic!)

And I will have a version without sound effects because I considered that. But when I first wrote the song I heard sound effects in it. Not as many as I put in the recording - but musically some of them amplified my experience (i.e. - the text box progressions) but after 7 years of writing and study this song came to me via the world of the game I love.

I think the problem with me is, I've heard those same sounds abused in sooooo many bad Zelda fansongs that I cringe when I hear most of them in any song now, good or bad. I really did think some of the sounds were well-used, though! Guess I'm also old-fashioned and have a thing for the "clean" versions before the digital tweaking comes along. :)

@deathnight114 it's funny because sometimes the lyrics just appear in my head and then I have to form music around it. And of course, other times I write music and try to put a song to that. But I'd say when playing around with music, if an idea (any idea!) comes to you - that's what you should write about and it will come easily (or relatively easy)...hope that helps a bit. It's tough to describe sometimes. lol :D
