  • @agmor1 I haven't heard the director's comments on this. I'd always assumed that it was more of a "Wouldn't this have been funny?" alternative for a DVD feature, that someone had thought up way after production. If this was acually considered for the theatrical release then you're right; common sense prevailed.

  • @agmor1 ya guess i see your point, wow a youtube conversation that didn't end in immature name calling, this is a first.

  • This is an awful ending. No closure. its like the film just ends there dead. Glad they changed it

  • I could definitely see giving the movie and unhappy ending, but this is awful - no closure at all.

  • That ending sucked

  • terrible way to end it.

  • But that would make no sense, the whole movie is about good morals and all that shit, the director didn't want it to end like this...it's the stupidest movie ever,it has to have an happy ending.

  • I understand the whole "real life doesn't end good all the time" but what part of this is the cinderella story ?

Did it end with peter having bet on cobra?

But they didn't film it or something ?

This isn't an ending, this is the cliffhanger before the ending

There is no end to anything this way ?

I think there should have been more but they didn't film it or something ?

  • This ending is shit, what about the leabians? :|

  • This should have been the ending!

Too many films go down the happy ending route just to keep the 'do gooders' happy.

This was the true ending.. not the other one. They changed it, because in the preview showing, it didn't go down too well, so they changed it.

  • @Barkermush people want good endings

  • this pisses me off so much. like i'd really like to say i have respect for the director for wanting this, from an artistic viewpoint, but i really dont. like not at all. this version doesnt even sum up any of the problems in the film. what about kate and peter getting together? what did peter do after he lost? what happened with justin and amber? the unhappy ending sucks, but even if it had that, at the very least it could have resolved some of the problems. thank god the producers changed it.

  • If the movie really did end like this, it would be way less popular.

  • I saw this ending on the DVD and heard the director's comments about it, and I still don't know how he can justify it. This was intended as a broad, commercial comedy, and this ending felt more like a filmmaker attempting to cram in a left-field, darker ending rather than a finale true to the spirit of the film as a whole. It is one thing for Bergman or Coppola to include a dark ending, but when this guy suddenly has pretensions to art you have to thank the producers for showing common sense.

  • @agmor1 i think this is actually a funnier ending though, the heroic music playing and the slow mo is just brilliant

  • @joespgriffin I completely agree. Watching it immediately after the film is an hilarious experience.

I think it works really well as a special feature. As a genuine ending, no. It's a joke that's part of the film, and it's not funny unless you know the real thing.

  • @agmor1 I agree. A comedy is a comedy which is a comedy. There's nothing dark about the movie, and this ending is wayyyy too serious for such a light-hearted, funny comedy. The executives' meddling made the ending more in sync with the spirit of the movie than the what actual directors had in mind. Irony much?

  • I remember watching this on the DVD and was like "The fuck?" It was funny and yeah pretty realistic but for it to fade to black like that sucked, hahahaha.

  • Better

  • I like this ending more for some reason.

  • @TerryB01

He will never survive against me and the Unbounded

    I'll track him down,

    destroy everything he worked for,

ruin his career and dominate your world!

And when I do, you'll know!

  • Probably the reason i like the ending in the movie more is the fact that White Goodman acts like such a douche the whole way through. How can you want a douche like that to win?

  • @ThenThereWasB

    He's an asshole.

He will never join the Unbounded and beat me! Trust me.

  • That was shit compared to the actual ending!

  • I don't know, I like a more realistic ending with a twist, it's different. But then again I do like a happy ending. And I think it'd be hard to watch a whole film building up to this only to lose. As a viewer it would be almost too disappointing.

  • Why does everybody prefer this ending ?

  • @Koroush51 Probably because this ending is grounded more in reality. In truth the underdog rarely wins; except in Hollywood. That being said this scene is a real take on an otherwise unconventional story. When the underdog wins it is usually refered to as a miracle not "A True Underdog Story" as this movie implies. The ending was ok with Average Joes winning but it has all been done to death before. This would have been a much better ending IMO.

  • @WRK004

In the original ending, the underdogs didnt won, but didnt get a sad ending. The lost the tournament but latter Steve the pirate compensates it by winning the money in the Treasure Island casino.

  • @XehanortNobody That would have been a great ending as well especially having Steve the Pirate win the money. I never heard about that part to be honest, I always heard that they lose and fade to black roll credits end of movie.

  • @WRK004

They had info on the whole ending on wikipedia, its a shame they deleted it because they decided "what if endings are not relevant to the article". They were supposed to lose, but Steve would win the money at the "Treasure Island" casino, because they laugh at him and yell "Hey, go back to treasure island!".

So yeah, in the other ending Steve the Pirate was going to be the hero.

  • @XehanortNobody Yeah but wikipedia is very rarely reliable so I didn't use that resource. Maybe I should have in retrospect. But thank you for the info I will probably do a bit more digging on the subject when time allows. Happy Thanksgiving.

  • @XehanortNobody. Yeah this ending I didnt mind the Global Gym winning but it was too rushed with no closure after the Championship Game ended here. Maybe have a four Minute review afterwards of what happens as a result....Like showing the Average Joe's guys locked outside there gym since they lost, and Global Gym becoming a big success.

  • @JZ2001JC

It didnt ended that way in the original one. Actually they balanced each other. Joe lose the game but then remember when some guys said Steve the Pirate "Go to treasure isalnd!" mocking him?

Well he actually went to a casino called treasure island and won there so he got a lot of money for him and joe. But I dont know what happened to the gym in the original ending.

  • Well at least that wasn't weird.....

  • This should have totally been the ending. FUCK.

  • To all you guys who don't get why this is the true ending:

The movie is subtitled "A True Underdog Story". In these kind of sports movies, the evil team always loses. Thus, in the grand scheme of things, they ARE the true underdogs. The fact that the "bad guys" actual won is an underdog upset for the ages. I got it within seconds of watching this ending, it really can't be that hard for the average cinemagoer.. but I guess I was wrong.

  • @NixonIn2008 I'm glad someone else understands why this is a hilarious and awesome ending.

  • this would have been a horrible ending...

  • @datzme49 agree! this ending sucks.

  • love that ending!

  • Maybe this sour ending would have been memorable.. Instead, to make it memorable, they had to put a fat Ben Stiller to say "fuckin Chuck Norris", which was hilarious even though his comment was true: cinema audiences mostly can't handle complexity.. That was the reason they had to change the ending.

  • Actually this was the real ending.. It was a couragoeus idea and everybody like it. Then they made a screen test and the public hated it so they went for the other ending. This one was surprising and daring, the other was very common but in line with the rest of the film. Maybe this ending would have been memorable.. Instead, to make it memorable, they had to put a fat Ben Stiller to say "fuckin Chuck Norris", which was hilarious even though his comment was true: cinema audiences mostly can't h

  • HE SHOULD OF DODGED, DIP, DUCKED, DIVED AND DODGED!!!

  • ben stiller is very funny in that movie but his character was a douche , the normal ending is better

  • reminds me of the south park ending where stan coaches the pee wee hockey team

  • No milkshake :'(

  • hoe does Keboooo

  • u should have ended it by freezing the image and fading out to the credtis

  • good ending.

i felt bad for ben stiller at the real ending.

  • bullcrap "better Ending"

  • The director played a prank on the studio during the first screening by using this as the actual end scene.

  • Idk why but this reminds me of the casey anthony trial after the jury read the verdict

  • Thank you veryveryvery much!!!! This feels soooo good!!Justice after all!

  • Just an out take I'll wager. You can see a boom mike enter the shot at 1:02. They wouldn't have been able to use it without editing it out or reshooting.

  • reminds me f the war of the roses ending.

    LOL.

i love endings like that. the best jokes are the jokes on us

  • What's the name of the song in this?

  • well everyone has their own opinion, but if this was the real ending we wouldnt get to see the kiss by christine taylor with that red headed chick haha

  • I LOVE this ending! (I wish the movie ended like this instead)

  • @adamrubin21 Watch it! In here, the bad guys win, instead of the average joes! I know how Titanic ended, but this is comedy you're messing with!

  • @adamrubin21

Like hell that'll happen! Ben Stiller will be taken down by everyone in Paradise City all because of this Baka (stupid) ending and all sorts of crap he did! Paradise City does not endorse vigilante justice, but unless it gets results, which it 'Will'

    Burnout Team Rocks!

  • @adamrubin21

I will take him down in Paradise City whether you assholes like it or not!

    Ben Stiller Sucks!

    Burnout Team Rocks!

  • @adamrubin21

I will take Ben Stiller down in Paradise City, asshole!

    Ben Stiller Sucks!

    Burnout Team Rocks!

  • @adamrubin21

Ben Stiller will burn in Paradise City, assholes!

    Ben Stiller Sucks!

    Burnout Team Rocks!

  • @adamrubin21

That jerk Ben Stiller and his group will never survive Need For Speed The Run ever!

He will never ever Break The Spell I got him under!

And he'll be addicted to the pain!

  • Far superior to the cinematic ending. If you wish to argue, please unwrap your hand from your lover's cock so that you may type properly.

  • Dodgeball doesn't strike me as a film thats high art. Its a fucking feel good comedy thats why this ending does not work!

  • @zfunk

Well, its not supposed to be high art.Its one last joke, even though it just so happens that the joke is on the viewer.

Its pretty funny when its just a special ending, but yeah, I wouldn't want to watch the whole movie and have that happen.

Originally though, they were supposed to lose, but it wouldn't end like that.

  • Worse ending, but much funnier.

  • i dont see why this gets to be the better ending, i saw the commentary and the director says everyone loved it except the public. his loathing is evident in the small clip he made with the fat guy ben stiller, personally, its cool to be unpredictable, it was just not doen well with this ending..

  • LOL ending...ahahahaha

  • and the old man's face is like "those bastards" @ 0:58 XD

  • lol i remember watching this all the time back when i had it on DVD

  • auhauhahuuhahauuhahuauha

  • Why does the ref not say" winner Global Gym" when they win?

  • What is the music that is played during the first 20 seconds of this film? The absolutely epic music? What is that?

  • very artistic but not mainstream

  • so does this mean peter is going to dance at the ending?

  • i saw the director's commentary on this, he wanted it to be the real ending and when they forced him to change it to a happy ending he almost left the project

  • Go Balls Deep bro..

  • No lesbian kissing :(

  • it's kind of artistic but still a bad ending, dislike

  • lol this would of been the best movie ending of all time.

  • @jrack13 I love this ending. I wish they'd release a directors cut where this is the ending to the film. They can put the theatrical ending in the extras menu.

  • lolz

  • Wasn't this the original ending and they ch... yeah, thought so.

  • they find out that the guy stepped on the line and they still go.... this is a lie

  • @XxHALOxX425

This was the original ending. I guess Vince Vaughn said that he liked this ending more.

  • this is like that south park episode where stan has to coach pee wee hockey, makes it to the final game, and ends up going against a professional hockey team instead. stan's pee wee toddlers - who get soundly beaten physically and score-wise - watch a huge celebration for the pro team, and one of the tiny children on stan's team (who has cancer) put all his hope into this game and upon seeing his team lose he just says "no hope..." and dies alone in a hospital bed. the end!

  • Worst ending EVER !!! all good guys win @ the end !!!

  • This is the original ending. The producers changed it after the viewers in the opening screening complained about it.

  • In the theatrical ending the chest containing Peter's gambling win has deus ex machina written on it, so I'd say that's evidence for this being real

  • this isnt real is it...

  • @MrSumo23 it was the original ending

  • No the real ending is better because then we all get to see fat Ben Stiller sing "Milkshake"

  • far better ending, very clever and would have surprised the audience unlike the obvious one they used in the film where they win and everything's wonderful which is a classic American ending

  • would have been a great ending for a drama film but wouldn't have worked for a comedy

  • Comment removed

  • @ALSmaniac1 where's that then?

  • @ALSmaniac1 stop making shit up. that was the end

  • Hahaha that would have made everybody so mad.

  • A lot better, I think it was Ben Stillers funniest movie

  • its not as funny, but i still like it. if it was supposed to be the real, that would suck, because they haven't tied up the wacko romances, or whether they had the money.

  • hahaha when ben stiller is standing next to the black dude it looks like that sene from dbz when vegets is standing next to nappa when the dust cleers and the episode ends!

  • LOL Ben Stiller actually wanted this ending... But test audiences hated it so much he eventually reversed the decision. You guys don't understand, Ben Stiller is a dark genius.

He's also the guy who purposely wanted the scene in where his wife gets smoked with the ball, even if it wasn't really a hard shot in reality.

  • Lol @ mocking the comedic convention.

  • I don't buy that this was the real ending. There is no wrap up or anything, it just ends abruptly. It seems like they just cut the end off so that they could have an "alternate ending" on the DVD.

  • @ArmandoJSalas Think of the title "A True Underdog Story." Underdogs almost always lose.

  • I don't see how that was better.... The proper is better when they find out the girl was bisexual

  • this would be a sucky ending for this movie

  • @swampertrules360 This was actually the original ending, but the audience hated it so much the people changed it. It said that on the special features bt i think that might have been a joke XD

  • Horrible ending!!! Not at all funny compared to the one kept in the film...

  • @gent11763 You're 100% wrong in every way imaginable.

  • @Kebooooo NO! it is you that is wrong in every way imaginable

  • @Kebooooo gent, you're the type of person who would've added a "good" ending to dumb and dumber, you don't understand what our generation knew. That good guys deserve to lose.

  • @Spyderist nah you are just a dumb ass.

  • This ending was perfect.

  • Would have made a great movie even better if they went with this ending.

  • Best ending ever
