  • you know what you are a sick person to be sayin stuff like that!! melissa lawson rules and is my favorite singer ever!!!!! and ur jest mad that u have a pitiful life and she is the nashville star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    roxie s

  • @majorrock6 I'm not sick- I'm intelligent enough to KNOW someone before I form an opinion of them. Try it sometime. And FYI- being a TV singing show idol *IS* a pitiful life. Just ask Nikki McKibbin.

  • i was rele glad she won cuz she was like her life is comin 2 n end bc shes 30 n she rele want her carrer 2 takkeoff cuz she is well u saw it if u wtch the show. i love her a lot!

  • This win by a regular, not so young, housewife & Mom, who is also a full figured gal ---- gives hope to all us regular gals not living our dreams yet. It takes more than one person to raise children & keep home together. 5 stars for her husband! Her church "family" are supportive of all the Lawsons. I've got the feeling they will keep Melissa grounded in her faith and her family. Note, she gave the new truck to her husband because of all his has done for Melissa.

  • "Regular person"?!?

If you KNEW her you's know that she's been a spotlight-hungry celebrity-whore her entire life. That act you bought is just for people dumb enough to believe it.

And she loves her husband because he's the ONLY guy who'd ever sleep with her...

  • Melissa Was Great!!!!!! Her church family supported her the whole way!!!! Great job!:]

  • I'm SOoOoOOO glad she won!!!

the best voice of the competition, in MY oppinion... and what about her weight?? she's still beautiful and a few weeks before she said she had lost over 60 pounds... isn't that enough for now??

  • One other interview said, "If I had to go back to my life the way it was, I would not be content". Poor children. She was called to be a Mom before God called her to be a star.

  • People like you with statements like THAT hold women back at least two centuries. Obviously, you've overlooked the fact that the 'poor children's Dad was called to be a Dad, too....and HE supports his wife's vocation - which will replace HIS need to 'bring home the bacon' - 100%!!! SMART DUDE!! He's got a happy wife who is now fulfilled as a wife, mother AND star, giving her Best Self to her family AND her fans - & instead of having to do some job 2 support 'em, but can be a full-time father!

  • Children were her consolation prize after her 'career' fizzled the first time. She was NEVER 'just' a humble little housewife- she just thought she'd already lost.

You'll see her True Colors shining through REAL soon... ;)

  • I'm not sure she will sell tickets. Maybe if she loses 100 more lbs. or so. I have nothing against overweight people because I used to be one, but anyone in the industry knows that overweight people do not sell. She should have strived for this dream before she had kids and was free. I suspect it will take a toll on her family. They have little idea on how busy artists are when just starting out, touring, on radio tour, etc. There is no way a label will fund bringing the kids on tour.

  • I was very dismayed at Melissa's reaction to winning, not gracious, not surprised, and no emotion that I could see from either her or her husband (I suspect the expected it). I have found conflicting comments like "I can't wait to win this competition" and "I had a gut feeling I would win" and then another comment that said "I expected them to call Gabe's name".

  • Well yeah- THAT'S WHO SHE IS.

Anybody who bought that 'nice humble girl' act is either painfully naive or a TOTAL SUCKER.

But then, we already knew that- most of them probably voted for Bush, too...

  • my goodness planetery. what did I do to you to make you so mad? It is amazing you would take SOOOO much time and energy to say you "know" me so well, when anyone who "knows me", would know that if they just contacted me, I would be happy to address anything I may have done UNintentionally. whatever it is....I am sorry. Feel free to contact me on Facebook. I'd be happy to address your bitterness. Who are you? Or do you even have the guts to say???

  • Wow. Have you really tried to extort SO many people that you can't even remember them? Anyway, typing comments doesn't take much energy.

And for the record: Your negative behavior was QUITE INTENTIONAL. Save the Gee Whiz act for the corn-fed bumpkin masses.

Cute little challenge there- "IF I have the guts" eh? Implying that you have some. Well, dig this- if you have evolved & accomplished so much, then why are you confronting people who DARE make bad comments about you? Pretty sad...

  • 'Where there's a will, there's a way'....& NO way will Melissa go on tour w/out her family:DUH!!! No matter what it costs, they'll figure it out somehow.

F'sure, it's a challenge that she's so overweight - but couldn't U at least give the gal a chance to change the established market trend?? i don't know if she can 'sell tickets', either....but i'm willing her to succeed, since enough people voted 4 her so she WON!!! THAT should tell U SOMETHING positive about her popularity. Wish her WELL!!!

  • That is true, but I think it is going to be tough for them. I wish them all the luck (and prayers) in the world. On radio tours you don't really buy seven tickets to every major city in the US. It's just a cold hard fact of life, unless they were millionaires before the competition started but I don't really think so.

  • Y'know what? - i think we're living in times when 'cold, hard' facts of life are in flux...so those prayers & good wishes 4 Melissa/the Lawson family to break the mould may yet come through! Even just a few years ago, it was almost unthinkable that a mother of 5 young children could win a contest like NS - or that a major label would REALLY sign her up, given the obstacles stacked against her. But the times, they are a-changin'...so we'll see, won't we? KUDOS 2 her & her husband - what a guy!!!

  • I 'dark viper', indeed....harbouring such dark (& 'prideful') thoughts...beware lest your viper-tongue backfires on you..!

I, too, dislike obesity - but have U NOT the grace to (a) acknowledge that a woman who has birthed 5 (yes FIVE) children may not have had the time to take care of herself?, (b) that the minute she DID have some time to herself, Melissa immediately set about shifting some of that excess weight during the course of the show?

Can you try 'Credit where Due'?!

    Oh - & TOLERANCE

  • i agree with anitaandmark4ever

i can't believe people can actually say that about one another think about if you were BIG yourself you would hate it if someone made fun of you just by the way you look. Melissa is a great performer and a great singer. She gots the entire package of being an artist. She is the Nashville star. So yeah if you don't like her why did you even watch her......BIG LOSER

  • I think it's really SAD when people sit around and think that just because a person has some weight on them they can't be happy or be content with themselves for who they are. You have your right to your an opinion, but I think you suck . who cares if she's BIG, she also has a BIG BEAUTIFUL VOICE, and you just have a BIG ATTITUDE PROBLEM, maybe you're JEALOUS.... LOSER

  • oh, by the way....Nashville star is about who can and who cannot sing. It wasn't a beauty contest ( although Melissa lawson is BEAUTIFUL- inside & out ), If you don't like to see FAT people change your channel...watch The Next Top model. I HATE people that have nothing better to do then JUDGE others. They do it, only beacsue they themselves are NOT happy with who they are. Look in the mirror.... Are you HAPPY? I didn't think so.

  • You don't know her 'insides'- if you did you'd never never say that.

  • Sounds a little high schoolish to me. I plan on buying the music she brings out not because I'm naive or a sucker. I just happen to like her voice and her style.

  • Well, that's okay.

It's just that some people prefer their pleasing aesthetics when they don't come from an ethically challenged individual, is all.

Somebody like Bono doesn't have that great of a voice, technically speaking, but he's a GOOD PERSON so we pay attention. Then you have people like Beyonce (or Melissa) who have 'great' voices coming out of the ugliest little personalities you ever saw...

BTW- "A little high school"? Maybe. But then again, she never threatened to extort YOU...

  • I thought they should have featured the other contestants a little more too, at least when they came in singing. Seems like they were always trying to cram so much into each show that it took a toll on the quality. They didn't do a 'send off' video package for Gabe or Tommy Stanley. I didn't notice any of the contestants except a tad of Ashlee and Justin Gaston, and a split second of Tommy. Melissa and Gabe's duet was really awkward. Poor song choice AGAIN.

  • I think Melissa is very deserving of this win. She was the only true artist on the show, she has the voice, attitude, stage presense, and the want too! can't wait to buy her music............

  • I called it from the begining, I told my husband that these were gonna be the final 2 and I was right. I am so happy for Melissa, and won't ever forget Gabe, he is a true country boy. Yeah I think they could have done an interview or something with Gabe, but don't worry we haven't heard the last of him yet I'm sure!!!!!

  • I have to say that for the most part, I was impressed with the quality of singers this season. I truly believe that both Gabe and Shawn will have futures in the industry as well as Melissa. I'll be looking for their CDs in the near future.

  • Guess it should not be a surprise, that NBC didnt get this right this season, but still...its only manners to recognize and support the other artists on stage. Melissa deserves to be the winner. She demonstrates all that producers don't...grace, manners, and appreciation- as well as talent!

  • I am very happy for Melissa, what a professional, talent and beauty. This finale, however, really lacked some key features...not a surprise!!

    1. There was no "send off video" for Gabe...

    2. The other finalists were never introduced, featured, or even on camera. Was Pearl Heart even there?

    3. No one thanked the band and back up vocalists (or even acknowledged them).

  • In the beginning when all the original 13 were singing, I did see Pearl Heart. I agree. No send off for Gabe! But I do love Melissa and she and Gabe represented our state well!
