What I don't get: If you have to do such a steep approach, why don't they just slip during final? Rather than just touching down behind the center line.
These skilled pilots fly their planes like they're on rails when landing at this place. But why hasn't anyone thought of stationing a few lifebouys in the sea at the end of the runway, just in case?
Can they do go arounds when landing from the water side of the runway? How steep is the hill? The sim experience doesnt mean much, I can land the simlabs concorde on this airport :D And isnt the road closed during landing? Why does a red truck pass before the islander?
How did you fly there? Did you use a commercial airliner? If so, which one? If not, private owned jet? chartered flight? Pls tell me as I might choose to go there one day!
wow, that so dangerous airport, while it observed the video, happens in tension, seeing as the pilots landed in that airport, seemed to me to see that the track is very small. Incredible when the car had to back down so that the Cessna Caravan, did not take it, I hope that the aerodrome that is going to construct this way close, in Tablón, Costa Rica, does not pass this to him, because it goes to be in the middle of mountains, although is even a project. INCREDIBLE. :O Good Video, and Pura Vida!
Jesus christ monkey balls, ive seen dangerous approaches before but St barths takes the cake. Awesome awesome flying skills by the pilots to get their aircraft safely onto the runway. The 3rd last aircraft (It was a twin) looked like it was going to hit the road it came in so low
Really crazy...

what a stupid place to put a runway
ellzeez 8 months ago
Why don't they land on runway 19?
Pagweb 8 months ago
@Pagweb coz theres no such thing.. you got runway 10 on one end and obviously 28 on the other..
ellzeez 8 months ago
@Pagweb They don't land on 28 because the tailwinds off the sea would be too strong.

That is f*ing rediculous how close those aircraft get to the road before making the dive towards to runway.

Damn,I wonder if there is a height restriction on vehicles on that road.Looks like a plane would almost snag a tall truck.
FoulOwl 1 year ago
@FoulOwl it wouldn't snag it, it would take the truck with it on it's adventures! :D

Loved seeing a DO-228 land there, just as good a plane as the Twotter. Thanks!

As you can see in my other videos, I went to SXM with KLM. From SXM to SBH I took a flight with a Cessna Caravan of Air Caraibes.

oh yeah, a 737 can land there. lol(sarcastic)

@risewiththelive the airstrip is extremely short, so I can imagine that he had to either drive or take a charter/light aircraft
misterrandompancake 11 months ago
@risewiththelive you can go there by Winair, or St. Barths Commuter.
