As much as I was excited for Skyrim I just didn't have the same kind of three-weeks-of-playing-every-w­aking-hour that I had with Terraria. I think I got to about 40 hours of play time within the first two days of getting it and I was at about 200 hours before I started to calm down.

Dodger. It's not about competitiveness in Japan. It's that the Xbox is all about FPSers! They don't like those type of games. And they don't like the douche bag American stereotypical gamer that plays FPS. There were very few FPSers on the PS1 and PS2. They've never been big sellers. JRPGs and adventure games have been. Japanese people are very practical. They don't just buy a console because of a game. They also buy it because of quality hardware. This goes for CARS too! I lived there, btw.

Well, my game of the year would be Skyward Sword. I don't know, I liked the artstyle and the controls were fantastic, even though the bosses were kinda meh. Dark souls I played on a friends place and it was fantastic, reminded me of Monster Hunter, pretty good too. Haven't finished oblivion yet, so no Skyrim. No opinion on it either.

Really not sure of GOTY. Skyrim was OK. It wasn't a gift of god like everyone seems to be going on about. Portal 2 was very good. BF3 was a bit of a let down. MW3's SP I found to be pretty fun but the MP again was a let down. Minecraft...GOTY if you've just bought it. If you've been playing since Alpha like me, not much is pulling you back. Even the massive updates aren't doing much for me. So if I had to pick a GOTY, it would probably have to be Portal 2.

My personal fan-boy self wants to say that BF3 was the GOTY, but then there's Skyrim and also CoD MW3. If had to make a guess, I would probably say Skyrim. MW3 COULD be a GOTY, but I doubt it as there was a decent chunk of players who didn't buy the game (myself included) because it is felt that it's the same game. BF3 is definitely possible, but I think The Elder Scrolls is much more renowned, which would lead to GOTY.

I'm not really sure It seemed like the games that came out earlier this year were pretty bad in general expect for a new exceptions and then near the end of the year they got better. Batman Arkham city, Witcher 2, Deus Ex and Skyrim were all amazing single-player games and Battlefield 3 is the only multiplayer game i even remotely enjoyed this year so i guess that's my top 5?
