Tasers - to be used in a situation where you'd usually need a firearm but would rather not kill the suspect.

It's scary how many videos there are of police using tasers when they really should just be going hands-on with some very simple techniques they ALL know how to do.

That this bully tased a 72 year old woman who was no threat to anybody should be cause enough for him not to be given desk duty - but for being fired outright and charged with assault.

So if he hadn't had a Taser, what would the cop have done to calm the situation? Used his brain, maybe? Punched her, used a baton, gone ahead and shot her with a real gun? (If a fellow officer had tased his own mother, what would his reaction have been, out of curiosity? Mom, you shouldn't have talked back to mah pardner?)

I never see the woman get physical with the police officer, yet the officer gets physical with her. And if the cop can't handle a 72-year-old woman yelling at him and needs to get physical with her, I'd hate to see how he would handle a 21-year-old man yelling at him. I think this cop needs to be a desk jockey for awhile.
