I have an 88 GTA Trans Am 305 TPI its pretty sweet but I need the headlights fixed. I dont know if its the motor or what. So anoying. That is why I like the Irocs no flip lights

@DaLeizFTW yes and no. TPI 305 put out 205hp where the TBI only put out 170hp BUT!!! TBI's were able to get more gain out of them with aftermarket parts. If I were to put the 305 TPI Heads on my car, and tuned it with a proper chip, I would be at close to 235hp at the flywheel.

@DaLeizFTW TBI engines have less parts and are generally more reliable, i have a TBI 305 in my Sierra which has 205k miles of hauling and runs perfect

@doza146 nope not yet...right now I can't even get into the car. Somethign in the door freezes up in the winter and well...it becomes the ultimate anti theft device because even with the key I can't get into the bugger LOL

I also had the same problem with my headlight motors, Both sides infact would neither come up nor spin.

Ended up going to a junkyard to find a new pair.

Just wondering if your car has the electric adjustable seat? I just bought an 88 and wondering how the seat is supposed to work because mine isn't. and being 6'2 its a little hard to fit in the car lol

@heavymetaltuba it sure does...but I have no idea how they work...they just do LOL. I am a horrid mechanic. All I know is there is this big ass beefy box under the driver seat and it controls both the driver and passenger. When my girlfrend screws around with her seat settings, my arse vibrates.

@finitolopez if its not the original motor then you will need to check the block for a serial number and run that against a GM engine database.

headlight motors are an easy fix unles theres abreak in the coil itself , the reason why they stop working is because 3 plastic bushings in the motor wear out , there's rebuild kits on ebay for 10dollars ,love your T/A i have an 88 too its silver with gunmetal grey ground FX .

@catburner I ended up buying new motors from ebay. Costed me 150$ for 2 new motors. I am just waiting for a nice day to put them in. Friggin weather has been miserable for the past 2 weeks straight.

@kebabtralla2k Not sure of the name of the rims but they were the rims that came with the "Performance Suspension" package. WS6 suspension package. I like them but they are a pain in the arse to keep clean.

@TransamDude1 oh. I figured they had to do with the "performance suspension" kit the car came with. I didn't notice any quadralink setup underneath so I am not exactly sure whats performance about it but yeah...I like the rims..just a big pain in the arse to clean.

@JasonsBack100 TransAm has about 187,000km's all original on the 305. I am thinking about just dumping a 350 H.O. from pace performance. They say it has 345hp @ 390tq. More then enough for what I wanna do.

@MrJohnjake Firearms Acquisition Certificate. Its your license to own firearms in Canada. We have to have to take a firearms course, pass a written and pratical test and then we are certified to own unrestricted firearms (semi auto rifles, bolt action rifles, pump action rifles and lever action rifles). For pistols you need restricted FAC and unfortunately automatics fall under prohibited and only military and ERT's are permitted to have full automatic weapons.

so i got instead a 1978 Pontiac Sunbird that is a wreck..

Transmission is Busted and the rear axel

is busted and it got more rust then "Titanic".

Sure they suck back way more gas then a newer inline 4 and these cars don't make as much power as a stock newer 4 cylinder...but man..you just can't beat the V8 rumble.

@carcutlass14 one thing I love is how easy it is to do a burnout. Once I get all the electrical gremlins fixed in it then next is the auburn locker with the 4.10 gears out back.

that sound stream amp is bad ass so is the sub , you need to put some 2 way 6X9 in the B pilars if you want to stay with sound stream they make a really good 2 way mid bass tweeter combo. the headlight motors are always on Ebay cheap , you have to really hunt for the cheap ones and try not to get some chineese cheapos or they won't last and you'll be back in the same boat really soon. unfortunately unless you have broken hardware on your lights rebuilding does no good love them cars man.
