  • I'm Vietnamese and I lived in Vietnam for a year and half, but moved in June. I'm so thankful I'm born in the US. Some kids in Vietnam are sweet, some kids annoy the hell out of me because they are spoiled and I'm talking about my cousins who lived in VN their whole life.

  • I'm adopted from China, I presume because of the one child policy, I'm better off here (Canada) than there, since I'm a girl... This movie reminded me of the difficulties I would have had to face had I not been adopted, I would have lived as a victim of the gendercide effect. This movie made me cry so much, I just cried and cried for so long.

I'll probably cry every time I see this movie, I wonder why beautiful movies like this aren't popular, I thought 'twas way better than some most movies.

  • such a good film with a lot of heart - it showcases complex relationships and very human emotions, as well as capturing the atmosphere of a third-world country (reminded me a lot of my own). this movie made me cry

  • the little girl doesnt speak vietnamese influencely, is she even viet ?

  • @GuardianDemonX Of course she does. I speak Vietnamese fluently and she speaks it perfectly.

  • just saw it on Amazon demand. Great movie. funniest moment is when we see all three together for the first time. Also, zookeeper is like the short Asian Tom Brady.

  • Just finished the movie. It was a great story. Really gives me some hope.

  • it was sooo sad...well, i guess it was just soooo happy it's sad. especially the very end. i was bawling hard by then T^T

  • I'm Cambodian and this is a great movie. I saw the trailer n thought it sucked. I decided to watch it on Netflix on Playstation 3 and I love this movie.

  • I just love the letter reading scene at the end. It is so beautiful.

  • I cried so hard!!!!!!! This movie is way sadder than anything i have ever watched combined!! From beginning to the end it was very VERY emotional! I swear the 5 people who disliked this, have no emotions and a heart!! Btw. I'm Vietnamese, so with me understanding what they saying, it just makes it WAY more emotional! Btw. I'm a dude!

  • I saw this movie last night...it was so awesome!!! Thuy will melt your heart! I loved it!

  • Pham Thi Han is amazing, and the story that the movie tells is amazing: family is not limited to the gene pool in which you are born. Amazing movie. Buy it, rent it, get your hands on it and tell others about it!

  • Looks like a good movie to see

i should see it with my girlfriend

  • These types of films are based on humanitarian and passion rather than comparing to American type of Hollywood that only targets mostly for profit and would rarely based on realistic situations like these that you would see. I have seen this movie already at the Asian Film Festival this year, but it will be open to the public Jan.~Feb. 2009. I recommend it because i think it's a good film and you guys should go see.

  • i have to see this film.

dosen't look like one of those films you see on tv commericals that look like they are only trying to get money

  • Tila doesn't act in this movie, though she's endorsing it. Says she would take her parents to see it, cuz it's sweet.

  • does Tila Tequila act in this movie?

  • Looks like a great movie. Will keep an eye out for it.

  • where can i watch this movie online?

  • Many vietnames kids are mistreated in VIETNAM.,, not only to their body but to their eternal soul. GOD BLESS THEM. The communists don't do anything about it. But they don't even let the outsider to help the kids out. They don't even let anybody open any organization to help those poor kids out. THEY are the red devil, drink the bloods of helpless people. Selling people as slave to other countries. OH Vietnam, Is this a curse for killed a righteousness man. NGO DINH DIEM?

  • Ngo Dinh Diem was actually a rather corrupted man, but if you mean him as a nationalist symbol, then yeah. I guess him dying was a shame. Don't get me wrong. I'm Vietnamese, I was born in Vietnam, and I am aware of the country's history and circumstances.

  • Good luck on the Spirit Awards. Haven't had a Viet film nominated since Three Seasons in 2000.
