according to NASCAR the Slick Johnson crash of 1990 was the worst crash in history this crash was outdone when Dale died in 2001 when he hit the same wall.

@ford9572 they did after slick died speed was reduced to 55 on the track and all cars were sent to the pit to avoid the scene of the crash. when Dale died in 2001 if a crash happens first yellow is thrown and then they send out red fallowed by black to stop the race until the wreck is removed and all drivers are required to ware safety harness's and neck restraints.

@OMGvp Yes and No sometimes a crash is triggered when someone breaks the rules and other times they don't change their tires in this race Slick Johnson blew a tire and it created a domino effect that lead to his death when he hit the wall and a paramedic landing in the hospital.

Yes, there was one where a Cleveland Metro Life Flight helicopter responded to an accident at a stock car race. That was a documentary segment. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I think some people in the pit crew got hit by one of the cars. I do remember that one of the patients died. There was also the one where a funny car exploded.

jeeze, the flagman was barely waving the flag! At the race I was at last weekend, the flagman waved the flag so violently and good even when it was just green.

Why didn't he put a red flag on the field!? Stupid! You'd need a red flag for that big of a crash!

Rules are, from back in the day. When caution flag flies, you race to the line. They did that. After that , priority one is to slow down. Then when you are slowed down. You get to where you need to be. They failed at that. Dumb Fucks.

This is amazing.

The one and only time I went to a race was this very race. Me and a buddy of mine were just out of the TV shot behind the flagstand. What we couldn't believe, was that they were alowing the cars continue at such a fast pace with the EMT near the pit road enterance. Although it was hard to see from our seats and to our surpise, seeing the paramedic get up-ended by Jones. Unbelievable that this tape still exists.

All the on-track scenes on this episode were television footage. They were not re-enactments. It would be next to impossible to re-enact a race with cars going 190 mph...

No idea. Probably they were not accustomed to racing back to the caution at such high speeds (green flag racing at Daytona is at about 190 mph). This was in the ARCA race, which was a third-tier series (now a fourth-tier series) - hardly the "world's top race car drivers" - so some may have been new to Daytona, but still that is no excuse and they should have known before the race.

If I saw this on another show I'd prefer that version better than the RESCUE 911 version because rescue 9-1-1- has the WWC breaks in the middle of the segments.

I think that's only done for the very first segment in an episode, though. Unless the segment runs longer then the average 15 minutes.

In the first four seasons the "When We Continue" break was in any of the four segments (except Season 2 when it was always in the first segment). Episodes that had three stories had "When We Continue" breaks in two segments. In seasons 5-7, it was always in the first segment if the episode was four segments.
