Stock pickups? And is it american? Great playing, I'm searching for a new guitar right now so I was thinking about this or a gibson BFG. Any thoughts?
nice playing! btw, may I ask do you have to replace the pickguard when you replace the bridge humbucker pickup? Coz I noticed that there's 2+1 screw (2 screw on top and 1 in the bottom) on the bridge instead of a 1+1 like the Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio. I'll be waiting for your reply. Thank you.
Yeah that is true... That would be great for coil tapping now that i think about it. But yeah, for van halen and stuff, the hss is perfect. Plus i agree, i don't personally like the bridge pickup on most strats anyways. For a single coil bridge, i'd probably have a Duncan hot rail thrown in, but on a hss maybe an emg 60 or something like that. But your setup sounds great, in my opinion. Oh and great playing too
You may wanna pay that little diference. HSS is SO much versatile. You Can play anything. To tap with an SSS is much more difficult than with HSS. For the tapping to sound you need a very high gain distortion on an SSS
Well, it does if you abuse the whammy bar. If you want to use it a lot, you should get the guitar plus some locking tuners, or just get the american deluxe stratocaster, which has them already and also has a roller nut. This guitar hardly goes out of tune.
i'm playing on an the american deluxe, and like acdc said, the locking tuners work VERY well. i use my whammy bar all day long and rarely need to retune. also with the deluxe, you get the S-1 tuning switch, which gives you a thicker sound which might be what you were looking for with the HSS, although ive never played the HSS so i wouldn't know for sure. as far as tapping ive never really had an issue, but maybe thats with my effects pedals. anyways, it IS worth it, and the neck feels better IMO
you could always try that jeff beck set of SSS pickups i suppose... you're right though, HSS is very versatile, but I feel that they take away from the strats sound if you are looking for a classic, creamy tone.
maybe you are right, it takes away that creamy, classic tone but only from the bridge position, fine for me. I love the strat neck sound, but I dont like it at the bridge, so thats why I went with HSS. But the truth is I was aiming for a versatile guitar as my priority. You can always have a coil tap to split the humbucker into single coil.
