  • Una obra simple, interpretada de manera inteligente, dinámica y musical. Excelente!!!

  • Oh my god. The whole thing is just shimmering with love and texture. So sad and so perfect. Also, Eric Alatorre is a total boss.

  • This is absolutely gorgeous! I could listen to this over and over.

  • I love this song/hymn...it evokes the past

  • is this from Tudor times?

  • Reeeeally would like to see this sheet music...

  • Shelovessherry, I agree! That's why I love Chanticleer so much. We can't all sing as beautifully as they do, but if we cooperate as thoughtfully and do things with as giving a spirit as they do, then there's hope for all of us to do beautiful things.

  • @amatorynumber I simple 'you got yourself a typo there' would have sufficed. Now you've hurt our feelings.

  • I find it really insulting that the name of the piece is not properly written. INmortal... not IMmortal. Sorry, but that is unacceptable for a such a self important ensemble.

  • So, so beautiful! These men are angels--or, if human, is there not hope for all of us???

  • And here I was, thinking that I would always hate a Chanticleer + accompaniment song. But this song gives me chills in ways that cannot be imagined. God, I love Chanticleer.

  • I love this cd/dvd they did. It's really beautiful music, and excellently sung!

  • Does anyone know quantitatively how low Eric hits on his solo?

  • I think he gets down to a low B... At any rate, it's awesome!

  • @merv1618 bottom bass G, not much (any bass can hit that), but a very rich tone. :-)

  • @amatorynumber I do in fact hear a low B at 3:18

  • Woo go Mr. Wedge, you're amazing! So thankful to have you as the vocal director of sota!

  • lol the director of our school vocal program was in chanticleer

  • I am in love with Brian Hinman's voice...no joke. It's so beautiful :)

  • He's amazing :)

  • I completely agree. I got to sing next to him at a chanticleer festival in akron back in october. it was honestly one of the most fantastic things of my entire life.

  • Jajaja...sigo obsesionado con este video!!!.

Feliz Navidad, y muy buen año 2010 para tod@s

  • Estoy obsesionado con este video!!!!!!!!

    Five star!!!

  • You are the best! I love this song! Great job!

  • Eric is da BOMB, dude!!! and just hearing how beautifully they sing literally makes me cry.

  • The musical interpretation is... just great, but the spanish pronunciation is not good... I'm spanish and I don't understand nothing. However, 5 stars. Is a pleasure to hear you.

  • im completly love eric altore's voice

his moustache is pretty ba too

  • This video was shot at the Mission San Juan Bautista, after the live performance there. San Juan Bautista is one of the few California Missions that have side aisles, and has survived this long despite sitting directly above the San Andreas Fault.

  • We have the dvd. But its wonderful to find it on Youtube too.

  • Eric's moustache is nothing to make fun of for it shall envelope you if you are not careful.

  • I think the bass on the right needs more moustache wax.

  • This is so soothing. It made me forget what I was mad about! thank you so much for this heavenly video.

  • I saw the full half hour show this comes from on KQED tonight and just loved it. I'm so glad you posted this excerpt so I can share it with friends who missed it. I'm off to Virgin at lunch tomorrow to buy it.

BTW, this video title should be "Para Dar Luz Immortal" The font in the video is easy to misread.

  • Breathtaking!

  • excellent precision as always. I am wondering about the lack of ornamentation in the performance for a genre like this with so much repetition...

  • That lack of ornamentation is part of its beauty. The repetition enforces the melody and the message of the song.

  • Each verse has its own timbre and texture created by using different voice parts, monophony, polyphony, and accompaniment. There's nothing repetitive about it.

  • Esteemed Chanticler,

Thank you for your latest fabulous recording. The unique beauty of the Mexican Baroque Music has been a staple of your performances and recordings. The latest release shows there is still so much to be discovered and shared with the world about this little known and important musical repetoire.

I've been a great fan of your music and the latest shows why.

    Thank you for Sharing Beauty.

  • i really like this song! good job Chanticleer! The solos sound awesome as always
