  • who is lucy baker a broadway start if not she shud be

  • wow

you had an amazing voice at the age of 11, and from watching you're other videos, its only got better. i wish my voice was that strong when i was 11.

amazing performance. keep singing and i can see you in west end someday. (:

  • WOW, I just found these videos! How incredible, I can't believe you had those vocal chops at age 11! Just amazing! :)

  • WOW u are a great actress! did u have a wig on, cause dont you have blonde hair now? well, anyways, you are a great actress!

  • Hey! Thanks for commenting! :) I was wearing a wig! :) x

  • haha, ok....! hey again!

  • OMGoodness you were so cute and good when you were younger.....and now! [:

  • no what i am saying is how did you get to a video of it ? cos in where i am doing it there are copyright laws and i am not aloud to get a video cos of copyright

  • Oh! Well, the school that the girls playing the oprhans went to applied for the rights to video it, because they wanted the girls to have a keepsake of the show :) xx

  • hi its me again before though i was on my brothers account sgdf i was just wandering with my annie unfortunately where not aloud to film it and its not being filmed as well for copyright purposes but its like music is also made by charles strouse so i was just wandering how u were able to get a copy thanks xx

  • Hey, I'm not really sure what you mean? Were you meaning how I got a copy of the sheet music? Because in the UK we have to apply for the rights to perform a show, and the producer just bought them. xx

  • this is amazing and even more for an 11 year old!

  • ur really gwd i am actually currently annie in Australia and there's a real dog as well lol he's sooooooooo cute just like that dog danny r u wearing a straight wig or is that ur hair ?

  • Hey, thanks very much for commenting!

It must be awesome in Australia! And I wore a wig :) xx

  • why do you have such a weird accent?

  • Lol, I'm not sure! I'm English, and was putting on the American accent for the part.

I tried my best, haha! x

  • Lucy- I feel the need to comment on this video again. You are amazing. I know the musical Annie like the back of my hand. Some people on here, seem a little jealous, and the only way to make themselves feel better is by putting talented people like yourself down. Anyway, you were 11, and a fantastic Annie. If people can't justify why they say something, then they have no good reason for saying it. Remember, you have so many subscribers for a reason =]

  • That is very impressive! Great job! :)

  • Hey, Lol, who were you calling an idiot? x

  • haha sorry not you i was talkin about mairead14 xxxx

  • 'mairead14' You talk about your pupils that are so much beter than Lucy, please inform us of any U.K / West end / Broadway shows they have been in? As Lucy said, Constructive critisim yes, of course its always welcome put your just being rude and patronising!

  • Thanks so much Kate :)

I just don't understand why people feel the need to pick every single little thing! Lol. It makes them come across so full of ego.

Well, they make themselves look silly in the end! :)

    xx

  • I'm not going to lie, of course there may be a few off note but.......Hello, 11 years old?! And this is a very challenging character to portray and as for you saying ' Tomorrow is a basic song' are you joking? To sing it correctly which is in the chest voice and belt register, it is one of the toughest songs for a child performer to sing! Also The last three notes of this song ' Day A Way' are perfectly on tune! It gave me goosebumps in fact. (sorry Luce for the rant) But this really annoys me.

  • What is with all these people? coming from someone with '13 years experience' you should know what CONSTRUCTIVE Critisim is! I know Lucy very well, from the show Annie as it happens and I know how talented she is and was! Trust me this company didn't pick there annie's out of a handful of girls, Lucy had to audition with hundreds of girls!

  • No Lucy may you obviously are incapable to endure critisim-in all videos you have stated that you would like to receive constructive critisism however if someone gives you any you defend yourself and retaliate that is why I decided to comment in the first place, you really think too much of yourself and i'm trying to bring you down to normality as you will get a rude awakening in a few years.. as you really have alot to learn-come back too me when you can sing ave maria.

  • Your critisism was not constructive, surely you understand that? It would have been if you had said, "You can make sure you don't fall flat by doing this..." Or "You could improve your breathing by..."

If I think too much of myself, I would delete all of my bad comments straight away. As it is, I keep them, because I know that people have the right to express that they don't like my voice.

  • You will notice that in all of my videos, I accept constructive critisism with open arms. I have learnt a lot from people on here.

I have more than 'a lot' to learn, I am 15, and hope to still be learning when I am 40.

  • watch your key changes.all of them first 2to3 notes after them tend to be a 1/3 off pitch this is espcially noticable in bar 13what happened your breathing?Keep your pharses long and legato you clearly didn't have the musicality to perform as a leading role.you DO NOT have the strength to sing in your head voice yet little lady so maybe that's why others were confusing that for'shouting'Stick to your falsetto until you get some strength behind your voice chords coming from 13 years of experience

  • Excuse me!!! Who the hell do you think you are? Some people just have to pick faults with everything. I would like you to find me another 10/11 year old who not only could act, but sing like this. All of course with out any training. Finally, if she hadn't have had the 'musicality' to perform a lead role, then why the hell was she picked from hundreds of auditionees to tour the UK and Asia for a total of 3 years.

  • If you want to sit here and be so picky about the fact there were a few 'duff notes' then feel free - as I said she was 10/11 and BELTING the notes out of a very high song 8 times a week and as any performer does, we all have bad days and good days. Ollie.

  • Actually untrue 'tomorrow' is a basic song which goes up to an e flat above middle c-and i beg to differ but that my friend is not belting..And yes you could take any of my students to replace her and do a much better job however annie is overdone, basic and sometimes boring..so i doubt it would lie within their interests. And correction if she is 11 then she is legally not allowed to perform 8 shows a week. And it doesn't matter a performer should be able to handle 8 shows a week

  • Mairead14 - I feel you have been very patronising and rude to me. I had a lot to improve back then and as I am now nearly 16 I can apprieciate and handle harsh critisism, but I feel it your tone was slightly obnoxious.

Some of what you say is definately true, with experience myself I can review my past performances. I did fall flat on some notes (about six), but I feel that at 11 years old and without proper training, you cannot expect every note to be perfect.

  • I'm not sure what you mean about my breathing? Could you state the time of the video of the point in question as I don't have the sheet music handy to check the bar number..

And it was perfectly legal, as I performed half of the shows a week and alternated with another girl, playing one of the orphans when this happened.

Not wishing to sound rude, but what shows are your students currently in? You speak as if they are extremely good, too good to play on a national tour.

  • As with your comment about a performer being able to handle eight shows a week, the biggest and most successful musical theatre performers make mistakes, fall flat, have their voices crack, and so on. You only have to look here on YouTube to see that.

I am not in any way trying to be difficult with you, I just feel that you aren't seriously taking into account all circumstances, and just trying to deliberately be very critical; too critical for a child singing.

  • You didn't have one nice thing to say. Again, not being rude, but as someone with experience in the profession, you should know that in order to be taken seriously, critisism should be constructive.

I never said my performance was perfect.

  • If it is that basic, and you are that amazing yourself, then you sing the bloody song, record it and kindly upload it onto youtube for all of us to hear. You say that Lucy thinks to much of herself, you want to read your comments back to yourself and realize how cocky and arogant you sound. If your that much of a pro then why do you spend so much of your time commenting people on youtube, shouldn't you be working on a big musical somewhere?

  • If you're 30, I think you need to grow up a little. Regards, Ollie.

  • hero to the rescue!

  • I'll have you know, madam, that I have no musical training and my voice does not sound squeaky. And I can hit a B. If you really ARE thirty, may I suggest respectfully you stop generlizing and be fair?

  • My friend did Annie and I enjoyed her singing a lot more. Perhaps because she wasn't screaming, and she wasn't off key?

  • wonderful job! I was in Edinburgh a little over a year ago with my troupe performing Chicago, so I have a great appreciation for what you're doing. Keep it up!

  • my computer is being stupid, so this isn't loading, and i am really excited to see it. gaah. i'll try again soon. my computer is on too much.

  • Haha, mine does that sometimes and I have to restart it! Hope you pop back soon! :) x

  • ahh memories:)

  • You're such a sweetie! Thanks so much hun :)

    xxx

  • not a problem babe eveerything i sed was true dont let them bastards get you donw...theyre jus jelous of your success x

  • you are amzing you are soo speciall n soo lucky to have such a talent and if she cnt act danibgal97 why did she tour and get loads of people and was in the papers u idiot i wud love to see you try!1 keep it up lucy your amazing! xxx

  • she cant act either

  • I know everybody has different likes and dislikes, but I would appreciate it if you weren't so rude in the future when putting forward your opinion. Hate is a very strong word that you should use with care.

The thing about giving 'constructive critisism' is that it doesn't make you look precocious and horrible, so word your comments more carefully, and please suggest how I could have made my voice sound better, or act the song better.

  • sorry i didnt mean to sound so mean

  • The thing is Luce, this idiot is probably far too stupid and immature to even consider giving you any kind of "constructive criticism". Also, seeing as they have just stated that you can't act or sing, I think it's fair to say that they don't have a clue what they're talking about anyway! My god how many people are jealous of you missy! You should take it as a compliment - they wouldn't be so petty and jealous if you weren't as awesome and talented as you are :]

    Love ya!!

    xxx

  • aww babe ignore people like that !!

and i love the way u handle these Dicks! :P oxoxox

  • Once again i was not trying to be mean i was just saying that the acting was kind of stiff. You have some expression in your voice when you act but not a lot and i am not trying to be rude. You asked me to tell you why i said that and now i am. I am Telling you in the nicest way i can. Also i have watched new videos and i think your voice has improved tremendously. Thank you and i am sorry.

  • i hate her voice!

  • Also, please post some videos of yourself singing so that I can offer my opinions on yours :)

  • ok i will

    Your voice is incredible...

Not sure about the acting though..=S

    Merry Christmas

  • Thanks for your comments babe!

I absolutely agree that there isn't much emotion, but I can put that down to the fact I'd had no training whatsoever when I did Annie, a little voice but no acting. I got the change through open auditions and learnt through the people I was working with :)

    xx

  • Wow, it's amazing you didn't have any training. You were great!

    xoxo

    belleinwonderland

  • Your Extremely Good =]

  • wow she's amazing! and she wasn't screaming she's belting you turds

  • Hey! i saw this musical. i was so good. lovely. it was in ireland#!

  • it was actually pretty good

  • Again I felt like she was screaming. She's a cutie but she just needs to learn to use those pipes properly!

  • she was belting it not screaming it.

  • Maybe she was but it FELT LIKE she was screaming it. :D we're all entitled to our opinions

  • wow! impressive! on a random side note it was a little amusing to hear your scottish accent slip through lol, but that's minor. very nice set of pipes.

  • Umm.. I'm not scottish! haha!

It was performed in Edinburgh because it was on tour, but I'm the furthest thing from Scottish! I'm from the Midlands, in England. Sort of a compliment though as I can't actually do a scottish accent!

Where abouts did you notice it? The accent was maybe rubbing off on me, haha! xx

  • ah, lol, well im not frmo the UK, so i'm not that great at identifying UK accents. i guess the accent i heard was english. sorry about the misunderstanding! you sound great though.

  • Lucy, you are so amazing! You were perfect for that part! I was your age when I played annie in July 2007. I will be 11 in December.

    xxx

  • beutifull and exciting :)

  • you have a good voice.

  • as you may know I was critical of some of your other clips because I feel your voice isnt mature enough for the songs bar popular and you in Annie its amazing. Keep it up. trainn your voice to be a bit more womanly sounding and I think I can forsee the next linda eder
