  • this man is a damn good actor and role model for are young people and anyone with sifi in there blood.

  • he's not as tough as he is in the movies- i kicked his ass like 6 months ago

  • Leonard Nimoy talking with Sean Connery- most epic conversation ever lol

  • He seems to be more popular than shatner ever was.

  • He looks freakishly like my grandfathe with that beard... I don't like it!

  • Nimoy: Pure class and a wonderful actor.

  • Legendary inspiration. I don't think anyone can watch OST without feeling a connection to Mr Spock. It's cool to see the actor really understands that and is such a king.

  • spocks beard is a great rock band..i like spock also..hes an honest guy.

  • If Mr Nimoy had been there when TheShat did his "Get a Life" thing, it would have turned out better

WSjust tries to be funny, and doesn't succeed very well part of the time. When LN is there, he will take what WS says, points out it could be insulting, then gives it to the people in a way that is funny, but he gives WS the credit

I love Mr Nimoy. He is a one of a kind person with a beautiful soul and who is as highly intelligent as his alter ego <3

Thumbs if you love him too

    LLAP Mr Nimoy

  • Fascinating

  • Spock's beard!

  • Leonard Nimoy is an extremely intelligent being and extremely successful artist. If you are at all interested in researching any of the actors from these series you would know they are all well accomplished. In high school I watched an educational series where Nimoy was introduced as a man who is well educated and knowledgable of geometry and logic ( not just "Star Trek" Vulcan logic ). I real enjoy his photography, you ought to look up his work, and watch his discussions. For those of you

  • FUCKING AWESOME and I'm not even a trekkie

  • No Audio, what happened to the audio?

  • @RascalCoyote It only works on the left speaker/earphone.

  • I'm a Trekkie and I don't have much of a life

  • @BorgKing001 fail troll!!

  • @MrXclio ???

  • @BorgKing001 i've forgotten what you said, so i'm not sure what i was referring to.

  • @MrXclio ditto

  • @JessOnTheRun You don't belong here! You don't have to be a nerd or a geek to understand that the man is fair dincum! Now go watch Rihanna shake her ass and leave us the f..k alone!

  • @IsaakTheGreek actually you dont belong here you foreigner immigrant... sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up before i back hand you like a bitch....

    go cry and whine elsewhere

  • @JessOnTheRun Ι don't even live in the states you tool!Since internet was invented the world is filled with macho men!By the way, you don't put me down by calling me a foreigner. You simply can't.I have superior genes than you and my parents are not first cousins either!

  • @JessOnTheRun By the way....your ancestors came from fucking England somewhere (best case scenario).I live wherever I CHOOSE to and not because my ancestors traveled on the other side of the Atlantic as prisoners!

  • @IsaakTheGreek My ancestors did not come from England you presumptuous moron.... proves how naive and ignorant you are. Largest ethnic/cultural group in America are Germans. and I come from a 'von' family... ancestry is aristocratic, traced back 5 centuries. And it is true today, as I live far better than you and live a life you cant fathom nor afford.

sit down you 3rd world greasy loser, you are beneath me.

  • He always seems like such a classy, well grounded, wise fellow.

  • He is even more awsome now!

  • i seen him speak in calgary, he's such a smart man, i never been captivated at someone speaking for 2 hours.

  • If only most men could be like Mr. Nimoy, he is such a legend, I just adore him.

  • Leonard Nimoy had this amazing way that he uses his facial expression to convey whatever it is that Spock is feeling. Even while keeping a straight face, you just knew what Spock is thinking because Nimoy acted so well. The new Spock's behaviour was just too erratic and unpredictable you'd expect him to explode the moment someone argues with his decision and opinion. Even Mirror Spock had more integrity than that.

  • @goldandsapphire Well, Mirror Spock was played by Mr. Nimoy ;)

  • He is SO respectful of his fans. He knows he wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for them (us). Of course his talent far exceeds anything we could ever give him. But it's just wonderful how he treats his fans. I just met him Sunday and he was SO sweet and kind and generous and so appreciate of how far I'd traveled to meet him and ask him my question. He is so incredibly genuine.

  • Wow a young Steve Paikin (Steve's the host of a popular TV show in Canada called The Agenda).

I didn't realize it was him until I picked up on the way he said "about" toward the end. It definitely had a Canadian Raising, and sure enough, this was an interview in Toronto.

  • His voice...he can make you believe anything.

  • @bruenor82 It's only logical to believe,

Er, people what ARE we Trekkers or Trekkies? I apparently am out of the loop on that one.

I was born in 1990, and skipped TOS and began with TNG instead, seen all of TNG and Voyager, most of Enterprise, making plans for DS9 and TOS what the hell am I called???

Besides weird, because I know that one already.

Every time I hear the words "I am Spock" I immediately get John De Lancie's "Are you sure?" in my head, lol.

  • @Apocfetau You aren't alone. I have the whole "Spock vs Q" CDs. :D

I was born in 92. Started with occassional TNG (my aunt watched it), but I didn't get into it until the new movie. Yes, the plot was kind lame, but it was a good looking movie. It made me think about what TOS was like, so I began with that. Seen most of TOS, if not every episode, and am currently working my way through TNG. I call myself a Trekkie. I don't like Trekker. :P

  • @RoseGirl1192 Try the TOS movies NOW

  • @StelarCF Already seen all the TOS movies!

  • @RoseGirl1192 good

  • Damn Nemoy has nice hair.

  • I completely agree with what he says about how the fans feel about Spock. It's so true!

  • Leonard Nimoy has the most comfortable sweaters EVER. Just look at it.

  • I freaking adore this man.

  • His eyesight looks bad, what's the % of his eyesight ?

  • if i was nimoy i would be slightly feeked out about the cardboard cut-outs behind me.

  • That's a good looking cardboard cut-out

  • Leonard Nimoy....STILL FINE!

  • such a stud

  • It's "Paikin" :)

  • The Star Trek movie was really good. It's one of the best movies they've made in years.

  • yup, its excellent.

  • That is some funny stuff.

  • Leonard was involved in the movie and thought that the fans would enjoy it . How could he know that a select number of people wouldnt like it. You can't tear down the man for saying that he personally thought the movie was good , everyones entitled to their own opinions on things.

  • No lie, don't be so angry. The new movie stunk, but I'm happy to have the original series, cartoons and films.

What did you expect from a JJ Abrams flick in 2009? Pandering to the LCD. Big action, sad ass plot.

You were right, but Nimoy is still a hero.

Just look at what happened to doctor who since it came back in 2005. I still love the original shows and so do many others.

  • And you know the new movie stinks, because....why?

  • Agree! I see it as an entertainment for picture sound and performances.

  • Leonard Nimoy in great new bio (all About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon! Michelle Bernier is author!

  • Dude is such a class act. Love him.

    ...Quellek?

  • Ahh.. This makes me feel so small, This video was taken the year I was born in the city next to mine. He's so damn awesome..

  • Taken the year I was born in the city across the country from mine lol. Lucky you.

  • Those are such atrocious glasses. THEY COVER SO MUCH OF HIS FACE.

Also, WTF two cardboard cutouts in the background.

But an interesting articulate clip nonetheless.

  • Leonard Nimoy is a great guy. And even wearing those glasses--he's still a hot HOT BAMF. lol

  • great great stuff. its funny how paiken looks exactly the same now lol

  • Is it just me or is he yummy? *sigh*

  • he IS yummy *double sigh*

  • Hope you are a female?

  • one of the numerous swooning female fans, yes

  • Hey man, there's plenty of guys who swoon over Nimoy. xD Star Trek has a sizable gay following.

  • well, I'd like to see the rest of it, this footage is not complete...

  • I love Leonard so much. I respected him tremendously before but now I do even more.

  • wow! my respect for him is off the charts! i dont think ive ever heard someone talk about their fans like that. you can tell that he respects his fans like we respect him :)

  • I've always liked him. His character has always been one of my faves. Spock, Bones and Scotty in that order

  • Nimoy thought the world back in 1993 was complicated? He couldn't have known what was to come.

  • Wow. I didn't even realize it was possible, but I do believe my respect for Leonard Nimoy as a creative person and as a human being has grown even more. Such a gentleman.

  • @doveswife : Indeed. I'm 46 and still consider his character of Spock to be my role model. Though I've come to terms with the fact that I don't really want to *be* Spock. In his 1995 book "I Am Spock" Leonard Nimoy describes the internal conversations he has with Spock. I read that chapter with a feeling of camaraderie, as I have those internal conversations, too. In a very real sense, Star Trek, and Nimoy's work, in particular, have had a profound effect upon my life.

  • He handles himself so well in interveiws. Seriously, a very classy guy. That's why he's a legend :)

  • I just have to say.... I love Nimoy.... seriously. Fantastic person.

  • IS THAT SPOCK OMG SOO YOUNG i thot i was all gray

  • Leonard Nimoy is awesome.

  • He looks like Gordon Freeman...

  • Check wikipedia

  • Look like?

You have no idea what he did in his time off the set....

  • I'm glad he got rid of the beard ^^

  • Leonard Nimoy is quite a smart individual it seems.

  • Ya. I've always looked up to spock and data because of their logic. I've always wanted more of it in my life. I admire the pursuit of science and understanding, purely from a logical point of view. This role is not one that just anyone can play. It's like this latest incarnation of star trek... they have spock battling with his emotions and often exploding. This would be uncharacteristic for the older spock, but maybe expected of a younger spock. Still, I'm not as interested in the younger one.

  • I'm not as interested in the younger one precisely because it's the logic that attracted me to spock. When that's take away, there's a part of me that's lost and looks to find something to replace it. So far the new star trek hasn't filled that void.

  • yeah the new Spock is sooo not Spock I've got the feeling that he would beat the crap out of you at any second a Spock that is not calm and collected is not Spock ---unless hei s under some strange influence like in The Naked time or Amok Time or This side of paradise

  • @sondano True, Spock felt a lot more dangerous in the movie. I actually saw more resemblance to Mirror Spock than normal Spock. It probably had something to do with the actor splitting his time between rehearsing for Star Trek and playing a psychopathic serial killer. Who may or may not be cannibalistic, reports are mixed.

  • I was thinking about that too that Quinto was still in Sylar mode but then I thought of the Star Trek IV outtakes and how Nimoy was jumping in and out of character within a nanosecond and suddenly Quinto seemed so amateurish he is cute and what not but hell he is not Spock and I doubt he ever will be

  • Now that's not quite fair. If you're going to compare to outtakes, compare to outtakes from TOS, not the movies. By STIV, Nimoy had been acting - and playing Spock - for the better part of his life. Quinto can get there, he's just got to learn to reign in the intensity.

  • It kinda frustrates me when people talk about how new Spock's too emotional. Now I agree that his affair with Uhura was awkward and weird. But everyone's acting like he's never let slip his emotions on TOS. He was also YOUNG in this movie, and was still struggling to control his emotions as is, add on the fact that he'd just lost his planet, his race, his mother and is facing the possiblity of loosing earth too? I would not want to meet anyone -Vulcan or not- who's calm and collected after that.

  • @XceptingDeniall Let slip his emotions? Quite an understatement. He was an arrogant smartass a ticking time bomb and a playboy at the same time. Spock went drastically emo only if he was under some strange influence (spores virus pon farr) . He was never scary and threatening. Did you hear how Quinto said "get out of the chair" or "you will answer me"?? Even before the attack he was a bitch who made Live Long and Prosper sound like fuck you. There wasn't a moment when he reminded me of Spock.

  • He lost his cool pretty bad (for Spock, that is) in Plato's Stepchildren when he smashed the vase and said he couldn't control his anger. I'm not saying I loved the new Spock, he was OK in my opinion, and after watching the movie a time or two again and refreshing on my TOS I noticed the bitchy remarks and what not . But they made him this way so they could bring in a new fan base. Which I guess dissappointed the old one.

But god...that relationship was just the worst. Pointless, too.

  • @XceptingDeniall well the Platonians certainly were a strange influence and even then just like when the Intrepid was destroyed he went back to normal within a few seconds. Quinto by contrast is un-Vulcan from start to finish even when he answers a simple question like how did he beat your test. Spock would have replied with curiosity and with that bitchy tone. It was done to appeal to those who, well, don't have a clue and just want to watch yet another action movie.

  • @sondano

That's kind of what I just agreed too so I don't understand why you're repeating it back to me in different words.

  • Interesting fact, Spock was originally supposed to be an android but due to 1960's limitations it couldnt be done so they created Vulcans instead.

  • Leonard Nemoy is very articulate and insightful!

  • go leonard!

  • Let the people play!

  • Those are intimidatingly massive glasses.

  • Age: March 26, 1931

  • wrong show dickwad!

  • you tell 'im what's-yer-name!!!!!

  • ok that makes no sense try again!

  • your name is all together so i can't read or spell it kay?

  • how can you nto read or spell it? becuase its all one word wow are you like dislexic or somthing? and quit using the word Kay your not mexican!

  • i have no idea what there landy kaufman is supposed to mean and you have no proof where i'm from and i'm not dislexic asshole!

  • theres a space between the l and the A thus proving your dislexic and i have no proof where your from what the hell does that mean im just saying stop trying to be mexican and look up the word asshole in the dictionary youll see a pic of your face!

  • im NOT dislexic the size of my screen blurred your name together dick

  • You cant understand The Real Andy Kaufman?

  • Whaddaya mean by THAT?

  • orite so youre just illiterate!

  • that coming from the guy who says "orite" jerk

  • i abrieviated se youre illiterate so you would not understand!

  • o.k. just how is "orite" an abbreviation of all right also give it a rest already i'm not illiterate you fucking bastard

  • It's spelt Dyslexic.

  • yes very good thanks for that very helpful now go back to whatever you do thats so interesting!

  • This failed attempt at trolling was actually kind of hilarious for completely unintentional reasons.

  • Data is a spock wannabe. they tried to make an intelligent character in leonard's place and tried to make data seem smarter and more logical than nimoy but fails miseribly. spock strikes a perfect balance of logic and emotion and he is in a league of his own.

  • i love his voice sooooo much.

i think in a way spock has probably had an influence on him. After playing a wise, logical being for so long, it's probably,in a way, rubbed off on him.

  • Is it possible to not love this man?

And I TOTALLY agree with what he says about Trekkers/Trekkies... ^_^

  • Go Leonard, very well spoken!

  • wow.. Hes in his 70s and he still has a thick full head of hair...lucky guy

  • Well, to be fair, he looks younger here because this interview was sixteen years ago.

  • Both Spock AND Leonard Nimoy are awesome. Nimoy is just a great guy and Spock is just awesome. I only started watching star trek a couple weeks ago and I'm already unconsciously using the words 'logical' and 'fascinating' way too much to be healthy...

    Live long and prosper, Nimoy!

  • yeah, it'll do that to you...

    :)

  • He talks like Spock haha

  • well, yes.....

  • lol XD i do remember one simpsons eppisode that featured Lennoard Nimoy in it XD anyways ive always been a fond of kirk n spok mainly cuz of the friendship they share between eachother but i know that these times of the TOS enteprise being ignored is though but as i said b4 every generation must pass the torch to the next one every once in a while.

  • Mene Sekket Ur Sevah! Leonard Nimoy is is so awsome, he is one of my heroes. Even though I'm only a 14 year old kid, I find that Star rek is one of the best shows ever.

  • Nimoy rocks!

  • SPOCK 4 LIFE KTHXBAI! :D

  • "Live long a prosper" Mr Spock. Star trek opened the minds of a generation to the potential of unity and exploration within and outside of the humanoid population. It also showed the potential for the rise of science and technology in popular culture, and allowed all who follow to immerse themselves in both the genre of science fiction and star trek itself.

Im only 15, but i continue to lead a new generation of trek fans into the future, beyond the realm of imagination and into reality.

  • As long as it's the decent science fiction Star Trek, not the prettied up Star Trek, I will help you with your cause!

Darn it, Uhura was never a supermodel, she was a kick ass woman who didn't take any crap. (I didn't like the movie, it ret-conned the original series!)

  • If I understand the meaning of "retcon", the new movie did no such thing. It only created a new, alternate timeline. The Star Trek universe we know is still intact, but when Nero and Spock went back in time and altered things, a new story was opened on an alternate track.

And I believe that this was a rare good choice on Hollywood's behalf. It has attracted many new fans with new adventures had by characters everyone knows.

There were some things I didn't like about it, but overall I loved it.

  • it's really cool that he understands how much of an effect Star Trek has had on people's lives, but he doesn't let it go to his head. It must be hard to have played a role that makes people think of you as the character rather than yourself, but he seems to understand the effect "Spock" has had, and still has, on people.

I think Star Trek opened a lot of people's minds. I don't know if i'm a "trekkie" or "trekker" but i do know the series has affected me a lot, in a good way.

  • He's still hot, even in his old man sweater and glasses!

  • You should also read 'I am not Spock'. He really got dissed for it at the time as some (rather stupid in my opinion) fans thought he was saying he didn't like Spock. In fact both his books are less autobiography than they are analysis of his character and Spock's and how the two came about. Fascinating, to coin a phrase!

  • Leanord Nemoy seems so caring! I love that! That combination of a smart and caring individual:) Good stuff!

  • Yeah I totally agree, Nimoy seems like a very kind old man. ;]

  • Wait, which is Trekkers and Which is Trekkies?

Because I was one, but then I changed...

  • Leonard Nimoy is a vaery intelligant man I respect him very much.

  • vaery? i dont think that word is in the english language

  • It is "very"

  • Wow! Smart!

  • I have the very same cardboard cut-out in my living room. I'm not a fanatical fan but sure enjoyed the show (all its incarnations). People always get scared when they enter the room and think somebody's standing there. ^^

  • I recommend to everyone reading this comment to go to your local library or Borders and pick up a copy of Mr. Nimoy's incredible book, I Am Spock.

I would give it 5/5 stars.

  • You need to go back on your medication. It's just not working well without any, is it?

  • Why are you asking people on YouTube?

  • look man im just trying to get some answers

stop getting the way of the TRUTH

  • Hmm.

    The truth that you suck.

  • NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love that he cares enough to understand why trek fans are so passionate. Great man.

  • Where do they find these jerk interviewers who know nothing about what they are asking?

  • God bless you Leonard Nimoy :D

  • Thank you, Mr. Nimoy, I'm very touched. Star Trek kept me going through some very difficult times.

  • Star Trek is actually resposible for alot of modern day technology were you think people got the idea for mobile phones??

  • Leonard looks quite funky and cool here.

  • Aw! : )

  • Alot of physcists, scientists, innovators will point to Star Trek and esp Mr. Spock as a early source of inspiration.

  • I love Nimoy. He seems like a great guy, he played Spock, he voiced Galvatron in Transformers...

  • Nimoy's cool. PEACE!

  • God bless Leonard Nimoy; he and his TV shows such as the famed In Search Of series ROCKS! Google this show and check it out yourself.....

  • Man, Nimoy seems like really cool guy to have as an uncle or something.
