This video is a testament to Ringo's uncanny rhythm sense. Studio and live, they're EXACTLY THE SAME. The guy was a freakin' metronome. Unless the guy edited the video so it matched. Don't burst my bubble, man.
@JimNauseam Although I agree with you on "Ringo's uncanny rhythm sense", but, sorry man, this is the "studio audio", dubbed on top of a live performance. Would've preferred to heard the "live" audio to this vid. Search "The Beatles : I'm A Loser ( Live In Paris )" @ watch?v=RKm2zb37B-M and you can hear the real deal.
I'm pretty sure they WERE singing live in this clip, but someone has dubbed the record over it in this vid. I think Ive seen the actual live vid elsewhere on youtube.
In that split second you could HEAR the Beatles playing and they sounded awful! But this was 1966, they'd had nearly two years of this mind-boggling fame (a curse) and were tired ot it - they were true artists. The music had become secondary. I was so disappointed but as I grew older I could understand how soul-killing that must have been for them. No one really cared anymore about the music, and the Beatles knew that. So they stopped caring too as far as live performing was concerned.
One more thing - my ticket to the 1965 concert - for a BOX seat in the old Comiskey Park in Chicago - was $5.50! Yes, you read correctly, $5.50! FIVE DOLLARS AND 50 CENTS! What do concert tickets cost today? Nearly 100 times as much? What's wrong with this picture? Maybe if people banded together and just refused to pay those prices, the greedy promoters would bring their prices down? Think about it!
@wolfiestanzi Also, most modern concerts have a lot more pyrotechnics and light shows and a ton of other useless shit. These just had four guys singing and playing instruments.
The audio not being in sync with the video was a continual problem in early television, live or not. So, it's easy to conjecture that they were miming, when they actually weren't in most cases.
The audio is not from the original video. The beatles didn't lip synch this perfomance. The audio in this video has been dubbed from the album. There is another video on YouTube with the original audio, and LOTS of screaming.
Thank you very much, you did a great job with the video! It has been nearly 50 years, and will spend another 50 and they will sound as current as now!
Me thinks the stereo/mono thing you are showing is merely a trick to get more views. This link does not play back in stereo , full stop. Many Many youtube videos are in stereo, without jumping through hoops to hear them.
This isn't lowest John can sing. In 'Happiness is a warm gun' you can hear him singing really, really low. It's buried deep in mix, so listen closely.
Nice video sync, but not stereo audio. Even back in Jan '09, stereo was possible on YouTube when you added " &fmt=18 " to the end of the URL. Nowadays that is seldom necessary.
They are lip syncing. This is the recorded mono version. Also, you can't hear the audience and after the first harmonica phrase, John takes his mouth off the harmonica but it is still playing.
@MrSnaperClapper This wasn't mimed. This is an actual live performance with the record track over it. You can find the actual audio version on YouTube, but it's kinda crappy sounding.
@MacWillyFortunes Yes, everyone, this is lipsynced. - watch John at 1:27 on the harmonica - there's a brief break in the riff and although John removes his mouth, the harmonica keeps playing. I also know this because I am one of the original Beatlemaniacs, and this song along with all the others was played by me CONSTANTLY from morning till night and I knew it, every nuance, break, breath, everything. THIS is the recorded version that was on the LP.
@wolfiestanzi Did you read my comment? The person who made this video did it. The video WAS a live performance which you can find online, but it uses the official track.
@MacWillyFortunes 1,000 pardons! Yes, you are correct - record track over live performance. Since it appears someone remastered the original video here (very clear, crisp image) , maybe in future someone will do the same for the audio. Let's hope!
I saw them twice, 1965 and 1966 - very exciting experience for a 12 year old but VERY disappointing music wise. I particularly remember a split second break in the screaming (which ruined the whole concert - I HATED the screaming) (
