On this date in 1962 {Feb. 10th} "Don't Break The Heart That Loves You" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; on March 31st it peaked at No. 1 {for 1 week) and spent 13 weeks in the Top 100...
It was ranked No. 31 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1962 chart...
In 1977 country singer Margo Smith covered this record; it reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country chart...
With all of Connie's successes in the music business, why isn't she in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Not only was she a great singer, she was also a smart business person. She was Executive Producer of all her recording sessions...Nothing could be released by MGM unless she gave her okay on the release.
No, I don't like that song, "Don't Break The Heart That Loves You" by Connie Francis and I don't like that spoken part that annoys me so much and makes me cry, either.
@synthono-you have great taste in pop music.Connie and the other artists you mentioned are great.some of my favorites besides Connie are Joni James,Dean Martin,Andy Williams,Nat King Cole,Jack Jones,Patsy Cline and the Platters, and many more.
There is no-one who can compare with Connie...I remember my parents singing her songs in the car on the way to town...guess something rubbed off on all us kids.....fabulous lady
OK, It's 1967 and I'm five years old again and Dad comes home at midnight from a night out and about with friends. He finds the yellow album with a sketch of Connie on the cover and wakes us all up so we can listen to her together as a family (all six of us plus my mom). Those were the days! Ok somewhat dysfuntional but it was fun! I still love her hits and the memories they bring with them.
I liked the beat and easy to dance to, I'll give it a 98. Love that 50's - 60's rock and roll sound with the piano triplets, twangy guitar and really simple backbeat. Beautiful record.
@rdalbright1 Because you don't buy it. There's a ton of music out there that you would enjoy, why aren't you seeking it out, and putting your money where your mouth is and supporting the artists that make it?
@SynthOno I have bought every Connie Francis CD and vinyl album available. I am buying Johnny Mathis, Matt Monro, Dick Haymes, Billy Eckstine, and others all the time.
@rdalbright1, not entirely -- listen to Perpetuum Jazzile on YouTube. Almost totally a capella, they do everything from Michael Jackson to gospel to Toto to classical music, in several languages.
Nocaro, i believe there is a correction: Don't Break the Heart that Loves You was recorded in February 1961 and topped the charts on March 31, 1962...
@pinedapopi It's quite possible that the recording didn't make it to #1 until March although Joel Whitburn's "Top 40 Hits of Billboard" reflects a February, 1962 entry into the Top 40 spending 10 weeks there. I never mentioned an actual recording date, but thanks for the info...Nocaro
Also, as pertains to the album that this song came off of, it's 'Time-Life Presents: Pop Memories Of The '60's' & it came out in 2010, if anybody else wanted to know.; Another helpful bit of info for you to put into the description box.: :)
@pinedapopi Don't Break This Heart That Loves You was recorded on 2nd Nov 1961 with a master No of 61-XY-971.Released in Jan 1962[50 years ago].MGM K 13059 with PS.

Connie's voice has always been able to melt my heart. This was one of several Number Ones she had in the early 60's.
