because..switchfoot is a surf term meaning put your best foot forward. and they surf you know, or are you unaware of that fact too? hm;; they used to be something else other than that a little before that but i dunno what. :) hope that helps;

Their called Switchfoot bc its a srfing term that means switching ur foot on the surf board and Since they were raised in san diego well tim jon ad chad they were all about surfing so yeah they named themselves that and als before they were switchfoot they were called The Legend Of Chin and lol yeah their skillet but except Switchfoot is the best band ever! woot :)
