@Ephiros12 mainly because the artists involved in such projects wil only have solely done metal beforehand, and considering metal tends to be far less mainstream or publicised outside its dedicated fanbase, only that fanbase really hears about it. besides it'd be boring to just listen to metal, and it often doesn't suit one's mood. don't know about you but with a hangover and an aching neck, i'd much rather listen to something more downbeat that doesn't batter the hell out my eardrums.
@rabbitspliff Semi-agreed. I have to switch to classical, ambient and folk music during off moments. I love the fast drums and over driven guitars but it's all too much sometimes.
Satyr is a genius, in my opinion he is far more talented than Varg Vikernes, who inspires the same level of worship as a minor woodland deity. It's a shame people don't give him the respect he deserves
I would give anything to go back to 90's Norway and live in that house. I would take walks through the forest every day listening to my favorite black metal records.
i seriously thought it spelt 'Mongraven' at first cos i couldnt decipher the writing for the title on the cover , Its a great piece of music though :-)
Put it this way, this album and Storm is far better than Satyricon albums he done in the past 15 years.Shame this is no more but then again it all for the best.Doom and Gloom.
funny you should mention Mortiis xD One of my favourtie (Black metal origin) bands. I really enjoyed the first two eras (Especially the album "Smell of Rain", masterpiece) To bad they've gone to mainstream-industrial...New music isnt anything special anymore :(
He's too busy beating off on stage with Satyricon....he has earned it though so I give him a lot of leeway in that regard. Why wouldn't he put one out though??? It's gotta happen.
@dubasher I doubt that Satyr is interested in making a new release of this. I think hes not so interested in making folk/medieval music now, and nowadays a lot of the 90s bm bands that made wonderfull bm are more into trash/death structure than medieval inspiration.. But yes i also would like if a new release from Wongraven, if it was made with the same feeling as this one. This one is unique and dreamy!!

It looks very similar to Kittelsens' work, I'm not sure either though.
Could someone clarify?
