  • SIGURD WONGRAVEN FOR THE WIN !

  • carpathian forest

  • great

  • @Ephiros12 mainly because the artists involved in such projects wil only have solely done metal beforehand, and considering metal tends to be far less mainstream or publicised outside its dedicated fanbase, only that fanbase really hears about it. besides it'd be boring to just listen to metal, and it often doesn't suit one's mood. don't know about you but with a hangover and an aching neck, i'd much rather listen to something more downbeat that doesn't batter the hell out my eardrums.

  • @rabbitspliff Semi-agreed. I have to switch to classical, ambient and folk music during off moments. I love the fast drums and over driven guitars but it's all too much sometimes.

  • I was fortunate to get this off someone on my forum who was selling a load of his black metal cds, Also got Storm's album from him. Great cds!

  • beautiful :) norwegian manages to be sexy and epic simultaneously.

  • Hi there , is there any chance of finding this on cd?

  • @horsey604 Maybe if you look really hard but I've never really seen it anywhere.

  • @horsey604

Amazon has it, and you can order it driectly from Moonfog. Your local shop isn't expected to have one in store ;)

  • @KolonelOrtega Thanks a lot :)

  • @horsey604 I got this cd message me if ur interested, sorry i dont speak too much english!.

  • @horsey604 try thepiratebay . org, there are few torrents with their album, but you have to wait for seeds :)

  • @Byrokratik ty :)

  • @horsey604 I've seen it at the local cd shop in Pittsburgh. Don't know if they still have it though.

  • I found the cd at Moonfog, their label, but its a little bit expensive.

Planning on getting it though :)

  • @horsey604 It is on Amazon.co.uk but ony if you are willing to pay like 30 odd pound for it....

  • @horsey604

moonfog.no/mailorder.asp order it directly from their site.

  • @horsey604 Help! there are also Ihsahn!

  • @horsey604 i have it, bought it probably 7 years ago!

  • @horsey604 if you really want a rare CD like this, go on amazon and spend 159,99 $ for it, it's your choice

  • same album cover as Carparthian Forest - Through Chasm, Caves And Titan Woods :S

  • @Nichlas93 Yeah i noticed also, i'd like to know why though..maybe the took the pic from the same spot. Anyone know what the building is?

  • Satyr is a genius, in my opinion he is far more talented than Varg Vikernes, who inspires the same level of worship as a minor woodland deity. It's a shame people don't give him the respect he deserves

  • I would give anything to go back to 90's Norway and live in that house. I would take walks through the forest every day listening to my favorite black metal records.

  • does anyone know the translation of this? like just the title?

  • @metallover54 "Once upon a time.. Man!" It's the norwegian title of the french animation TV series from 1978. imdb.com/title/tt0264244/

  • @Berntn79 k thanks man

  • we need more Wongraven, this is a fuckin masterpeice

  • Is that a Theodore Kittlesen painting?

  • @CountUlrok I'm not sure. But I did notice that a couple of Burzum's album covers were made by Kittelsen.

  • @MedievalAmbient A couple of? nearly all, except Belus, Hliðskjálf and Dauði Baldrs.

  • @xSvartNattx Okay then soooory lol

  • @xSvartNattx and det som en gang var.

  • @CountUlrok Yes it is. Burzum used a lot of Kittlesen paintings for his album art. I love Theodore Kittlesen's art.

  • @CountUlrok

It looks very similar to Kittelsens' work, I'm not sure either though.

    Could someone clarify?

  • @dmguitarist99 Actually I'm pretty sure it is now.

  • @dmguitarist99

the cover is from the creator of burzums filosofem ( kittelsen )

  • @CountUlrok

yes it is. for example carpathian forest used this, too.

  • @CountUlrok

Yep, according to Metal Archives, this cd's illustrations belong to Theodore Kittelsen

  • epic Satyr is a true king of dark music

  • wonderful... wongraven is just one of the greatest piece of ambient

  • i seriously thought it spelt 'Mongraven' at first cos i couldnt decipher the writing for the title on the cover , Its a great piece of music though :-)

  • It reminds me about medieval times. Bow

  • Put it this way, this album and Storm is far better than Satyricon albums he done in the past 15 years.Shame this is no more but then again it all for the best.Doom and Gloom.

  • Nobility

  • truly something amazing as always!

  • Neptune Towers is Fenriz from Darkthrone. What a genius he is...Darkthrone, Isengard, Storm, Neptune Towers....wow!!

Mortiis ERA ONE is fantastic....check out Crypt of the Wizard and The Stargate. Incredible.

  • He needs to do another album...asap

  • funny you should mention Mortiis xD One of my favourtie (Black metal origin) bands. I really enjoyed the first two eras (Especially the album "Smell of Rain", masterpiece) To bad they've gone to mainstream-industrial...New music isnt anything special anymore :(

  • Yeah Fodt Til A Herske had the BM magic!

  • mhm! I love this atmosferic music (im from Norway too, so i get the lyrics =D)

  • what means Wongraven?

  • It is the last name of one of the band members of Satyricon.

  • Wongraven is the last name to Satyr (Sigurd Wongraven, his real name) It's kinda an old name, so fits perfectly to this music :)

  • Its just his name, it can mean from the grave lol

  • @KennenSieStoumpo It is the last name of Satyr. His real name is Sigurd Wongraven.

  • to bad they only recorded 1 album :(

  • He's too busy beating off on stage with Satyricon....he has earned it though so I give him a lot of leeway in that regard. Why wouldn't he put one out though??? It's gotta happen.

  • Satyr is the man! We all need another Wongraven release!

  • @dubasher I doubt that Satyr is interested in making a new release of this. I think hes not so interested in making folk/medieval music now, and nowadays a lot of the 90s bm bands that made wonderfull bm are more into trash/death structure than medieval inspiration.. But yes i also would like if a new release from Wongraven, if it was made with the same feeling as this one. This one is unique and dreamy!!
