  • Charles Knipp is a VERY slimy man making his money off of exploiting Black women. I applaud Black women for making a stand against this vile creature.

  • we are going backwards... pay attention. rex 84 is possibly the rebirth of slavery in america.

  • On top of it all, it's a man, dressed as a woman. I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe he feels deep down that he is a black woman. Genetics show that we are no further than 7 cousins away from each other. Some of us connect with certain cultural ethnolect - I am white, grew up in Memphis, I've seen this TYPE, not STEREOTYPE all my life. I even can relate to that. I can even talk like that! I laugh at "White Chicks" and this too. Let's all lighten up and make fun! Let go and live your life!

  • @clearlyme

That was one of the stupidest things I ever read.

  • time than worry about this. REALLY??? If Tyler Perry were a white man in real life portraying Madea, then it would be an issue once again even though you say it wouldn't be. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about all the struggles you go through. WHAT DO YOU GO THROUGH that is so bad??? You are living your life through what happened years ago and it's time to let it go. Racism is present because you keep bringing up issues that are not even meant to hurt anyone.

  • @heaffy5 And through your intolerant tone and your labored caps lock rhetoric, you perpetuate that racism and do a disservice to any educated white person that can speak their mind on the issue in a constructive, nonoffensive manner.

  • @thorthumb3000 I am an educated white person and I'm just speaking my mind as anyone also on here does, which is my right as an American. I'm not being offensive, I'm just stating the obvious. When are you going to let things go and quit bringing it back to racism??? I could do that everyday if I wanted to but I don't.

  • @heaffy5 Hey, I was arguing the same point that Shirley Q. Liquor WAS NOT racist. Apparently YOU are bringing back to racism. The way you were going about it made a fool out of yourself and, regardless if you are or not, made you look like a racist. Yes, you do have a right as an American to speak out; and it is my right to say that I think that you could say things differently so as not to perpetuate this "racism" that you accuse others of "bringing it back to".

  • And in response to Shirley Q Liquor, "she" has actually been stood up for by a few black drag queen celebrities. Drag comes in many forms, shapes and colors. Most drag is meant to be seen for the glamor, the comedy or the "bitch" side of it. Also, Shirley Q Liquor also plays a character of a white woman by the name of Betty Butterfield in which she portrays an obese white woman with alot of makeup also and does skits acting like a manic. I think you should find better things to do with your

  • If white people were to do that, we would be considered racist. Thirdly, there are a lot more black comedians out there that make fun of the white population because they can get away with it, if I white Comedian were to do that, we would have the NAACP stepping in like they do everything else. Take a step back and look out how good you have it today. Years ago, not so much but that has nothing to do with our generation.

  • Racism is not just by white people. I grew up in a mostly black populated town in the south and trust me, blacks are just as bad if not worse. Black people get more government assistance than white people ie welfare, unemployment etc so you're not the only ones out there looking for work or assistance. Secondly, why is it that black people have to have their "own" of everything ie "Mrs Black America, Black Gay Pride, Black History month"?

  • Lastly, the same performer has a character by the name of Betty Butterfield in which he embodies an overwieght, manic white woman. If you watch him perform as Betty, you might better understand how this is less of a topic of blackface comedy (which is not funny in the least) but of a drag queen bit. If you find drag offensive, then you are one of many from various colors, creeds, and walks of life. But as outspoken as you are about injustice, I like to think you'd be tolerant of queer issues.

  • Secondly, this performer, having expressed openly that his entirely respectful stance on the issue, has been applauded by Ru Paul on more than one occasion. Ru Paul has done many things for the queer (namely the drag) community and broken many racial and social barriers. There is an interview that is available online in which Ru Paul defends the character of Shirley Q. Liquor. Maybe worth looking into for you.

  • are inherently more obnoxious and risque by nature. I feel as though you may have never been exposed to that crowd, and don't really understand the origins of this subculture.

  • I have never posted a comment on youtube before but this issue got my attention. Being a minority, in multiple respects, I do find many racially charged comedy routines offensive. However, I don't think there is anything malicious behind the character of Shirley Q. Liquor. First of all, it's a drag performance. Drag kings and queens perform for a very subversive crowd on the fringes of mainstream society, and therefore...

  • @bambizzoozled YOUR BACK!? I THOUGHT I CHECKED YOU AND SCARED YOU OFF ALREADY? you don't want to go up against me whiteboy, i suggest you run off again lmao....punk.

  • @Lashid4u nah they have been thinking their invincible with all these tough white characters they keep coming out with in the movies lol still, they can be as tough as they want to be,NOBODY is as tough as us afrikans, we been through hell and back, and we still get up in the morning smiling. lol

  • @LONDON1KaZR How old are you??? You've been through what hell? It's time to live through your own generation and not your grandparents. And your attitude is what makes RACISM evident. And if you want to talk about being Africans, realize your ancestors are the ones that sold your kin to Americans...

  • @heaffy5 What are you trying to accomplish by saying this? Shoving blame back and forth and inciting blasphemously incorrect history makes you look like a dumb ass. Try to make a more eloquent argument that isn't offensive.

  • dumb-ass NIGGAS may be fine w/ that shit, but they don't speak for black people

  • Many black people are blind, and unaware of their history, and the history of racism in this country - I'm not surprised (and the schools aren't teaching anything that will instill black pride in them, and being that the parents were schooled by the enemy, due to integration ...they aren't schooling their children)

  • You really took the time to call someone a faggot??

Wow....you really are a keyboard gangster.

You need to log off and go play World of Warcraft before mommy and daddy find out you've been surfing on the Internetz again....*L*

  • bambizzoozled AND ANY OTHER MORON LIKE HIM ARE PART OF INFILTRATION, IGNORE THEM, LET'S JUST KEEP MOVING, WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO GETTING VIOLENT, I'LL BE THE FIRST ONE TO CHECK HIS IDIOTIC ASS, I HOPE ANYWAY, SUPLEXES AND ALL. PEACE TO THE GODDESSES AND GODS. BLACK POWER.

  • LOL @ Suplexes!!!

You're a wrestling fan too, huh???

Me too...nothing relives tension more than picking up somebody, lifting them in the air and slamming their ass to the ground...hard!!!

  • The Revolution has already begun....each day that more and moe folks begin to start businesses, finish grad schools, get degrees, create, maintain and increase jobs, and do all the things that make life liveable, iregardless of color, sex, or whatever.

Once Again, If You're Not a Supremacist, then you have nothing to fear.

If you are one, you're gonna fall. It's called Karma, it's called Justice.

Shirley Liquor and anything like that crap is done...they're just too dumb to know it!!!

  • word...

  • I don't sweat you, and you'e not punking me, Lashid or anybody else!!!!!

Btw, why are you on this video clip and commenting on this page, or sepaking to myself, Lashid or anyone in particular, if you are sooooo offended about this?

    Reality check: You're Not Special.

If You're Not a bigot, then don't be afraid..If you are one, you're gonna lose!

Folks are No Longer Going To Sit By and let people disrespct others just because.

  • Oh, and a white guy on Saturday Night Live put on make-up, etc., to do an impression of Sammy Davis, Jr. (just like the one who did Obama), but blacks didn't get offended, because these weren't "minstrel" (totally mocking blacks and making fun of black features, w/ exaggerations such as red lips and charcoal black makeup), and they didn't use alotta negative black stereotypes to make people laugh

  • The defense y'all give is SOOO repetitive, and I think you know the difference, dear, although I'll play along with you ...As I've posted: Eddie & Martin may be imitating for comedic purposes, but they are not playing upon negative stereotypes of other races - shoot, Rasputia and Shen-nay-nay are more offensive than the non-black characters that they do! A character like Shirley Q. can give negative impressions of blacks, that can lead to discrimination, unlike Eddie's characters

  • Keep complaining. No one is listening. I did not give a defense. I AKSed you a question. You are typically defensive.

Y'all are headed straight back into segregation.

  • Integration never, really, did us all that good, anyways...

  • It's about CONTEXT...Eddie, Martin and The Wayans did whiteface, or played an Asian or whoever, because many White folks, Asians and so forth WERE NOT offended by it.

When Non-Black folks (mostly white) perform Blackface, it's considered offensive because it was done by folks to MOCK Black People in a disrespectful way.

Imagine if a Klansmen or a Skinhead decided to dress up and pretend to be a Jewish person?

    Offensive, huh?

When it comes to Blackface, it's the same concept.

  • Who is that? A Tyler Perry clone? Or a Tyler Perry predecessor? Bad news either way.

  • Obviously, it's a Madea wannabe, but I can, actually, relate to Madea (my late grandmother), unlike Miss Shirley Q, who says "K-Mark", instead of "K-Mart". I understand that there are old, black Southerners who may not speak so grammatically correct, but that's just TOO over-the-top, like w/ the charcoal black make-up and big, red lips ...Madea kinda look like some older black women, but how many sistas look like Shirley? This is pure mockery (not just a harmless imitation)

  • On Shirley Q:

When Knipp, a heavyset, middle-aged white nurse by day, steps onstage, he is covered in light mahogany foundation makeup, multi-colored eye shadow and wearing a housedress and a curly wig. This is Shirley Q., a black welfare mom with 19 chirren of unknown origin who have names like Ice Bucket, Gonorrhea and Bubblelicious.

  • ....Shirley greets her adoring fans — mostly young, gay white men — with her standard, How you durrin? and begins a monologue covering such topics as how she applied to the United Negro College Fund but spent all the money on marijuana, or singing songs like Who is My Babies Daddies?

  • hmm, two things came up in my mind 1 i think i feel like dave chappelle when he notice the white men was laughing at him not with him at his mockery of himself. 2 i wonder if theirs a double standard cuz he remind me of tyler perry. and i laugh with t.p medea when she act a fool but not with him. hmm in this case mockery is not the highest form of flattery.

  • @hnic74111 as I've posted in a Shirley Q video: Tyler's Madea was created to make US laugh, more blacks, can, actually relate to her (and even resemble us, somewhat, although there are some comedic exaggerations, i.e. big, floppy breasts lol).

But Shirley Q is to make THEM laugh. Madea is an exaggeration, Shirley's a pure stereotype. I know some Madeas, but I don't know any Shirley Qs, or even, Rasputias (ALSO created to make "them" laugh). Look at how Shirley Q look - PURE blackface!

  • Spike Lee says Tyler Perry's work is "coonery and buffoonery."

  • Spike Lee, as a New Yorker, just can't relate to Madea ...However, my family roots are from the South, and I can ...But I can't relate to a Southern, ELDERLY black woman who wears pink wigs, coon-clown make-up, has 19 different babies (by 20 different daddies), and name her children after venereal disease ...Tyler may exaggerate some things about Madea (like the floppy breast) for comedic purposes, but this shit is just WAAAAY over-the-top, and, obviously, a total mockery of black women

  • How about when Chappelle did all that whiteface? How about when Chappelle and Mos Def put on minstrel blackface?

The typical Black excuse is "It's different when a Black person does it." Well, y'all are going to differentiate yourselves back into what was the status quo in this country until as late as 1968 in the South - segregation.

Enjoy the equality your forefathers dies for - or risk losing it. Please listen to reason.

  • It aint just about painting your skin your skin another color, and making yourself look like someone of another race (that isn't wrong) ...It's about making a total mockery of their features, mannerisms, etc. (and ALWAYS on a negative tip) ..I thought that was, actually, a Jew in Coming to America ...But what black person looks like Shirley Q? Blackface isn't about making yourself over as "black", but making fun of black features, etc., through the excessive makeup, etc.

  • Boo Hoo

  • I heard about this fool from a gay co-worker years ago, and I did not know that he was THIS popular. I had no idea that this was a routine that he performed in blackface. He looks like a freaking mess.

I'm tired of fat black women being depicted as such awful stereotypes...people think being a fat black woman is the worst thing in the world?

RuPaul, of all people! This fool said that he gives this Shirley character his full support... GTFOOH!

  • It's different when a gay person does it.

  • It will always be popular towards them, they hate us, mocking us is their greatest medicine ( the movie precious was really well recieved by them) black people are scared to look at things as they really are. I know one thing, if i catch a whiteboy in blackface, im going to check them...asap.

  • You'd better listen to this white guy, London ...You know they're ALL tough now, since they've seen the beard man's video! lol

  • Shirley Q. Liquor? ..

    Let me look that up..

    OH HELL NAW!

How in the hell do people find that mess funny.

  • Also, he's a gay man with a gay following. Yet we are supposed to believe the gay "struggle" is the same as ours. How then could gays support him and his racist comedy act?

  • I agree Xtra!

  • WE STILL LIVE UNDER RACISM- WHITE SUPREMACY.

I REFUSE to ignore it and pretend that it doesn't exist when my people still have to deal with that ish~!

  • @EbonyLoveAndMarriage

    You ain't sen nothing yet.

  • Then prepare to be Destroyed...

You will show people the same respect and courtesy that you want for yourself, or you will be taken out....

The choice is yours.....make it the right one!!!
