Tornado video April 10, 2009; sound of fury.

One touched down in the field in front of my house about 3 years ago and a few more around the county but its to this day the scariest noise i have ever heard.

About month ago had REALLLLLY bad storm and there was a vortex about to touch down but there wasn't enough room too and I actually caught a picture of the vortex trying to touch down on my phone it was super scary. I was at my dads work right outside of his working area and it was just about on top of us

@MrSimsFry A tornado sounds like the rumbling of a train on the tracks, or it also reminded me of the Concorde Jet rumbling at take off. I heard one last summer it just passed right by our house, it was an F2 and that was loud and bad enough. We were not hurt but there was much damage to property of others. Once you hear it you won't forget it. Gave me the creeps for weeks every time the wind blew hard.

Sounds like being on the subway... weird. I always thought the "freight train" comparison just meant like, you could feel the vibration in your chest and the loud roar, but damn... you can almost hear the wheels going over the breaks in the rails on this one! Fantastic audio.

@lxsosna That sure is, and I'm crying for all those people. What left me in shock is that it could have been any of us since the outbreak was mostly in the northern part. I think we had close to a F1 too, but even with that I don't ever want to experience any kind of tornado ever again. I might become a storm tracker one day but I'm not so sure.

Thousands of roofs gone, windows shattered, cars moved/destroyed, trees/telephone poles ripped out & laying across roads & houses. The damage & destruction looked like Baton Rouge had been bombed. Even if you could find gas, you still couldn't escape because every single road out was blocked, flooded or destroyed. And most ppl have never heard of it coz Katrina/Rita/Ike got the most media attention. :-(

We had it hanging under our carport. When the tonado destroyed the carport the

chimes went with the wind and ended up in the tree.

It was an experience I hope never to go through again.

We lost part of the roof, which allowed the rain to saturate the celings in 3 rooms. We lost a 3 car carport. Considering the strength of the tornado we consider ourselves very blessed.

Thank you for viewing. We do not have any pets, and I was close to the back door, but you are right, I should have ducked for cover. The sounds you heard in the dark was part of my roof being ripped off and a three car carport totally gone.
