I remember mowing the grass near the Precision Approach Radar at Langley while the F15 pilot was practicing the demo. I was right in the middel of the loop a few hundred feet below him. It was awesome!!! I miss it.
This plane has absolutely no competition in the sky. 100% badass. I spent 4 years with the 1st TFW, 27th TFS at Langley AFB as an F-15 Crew Chief. I love the sound of those engines.

The Air Force has had the F15s for so many years now so I'm sure they know the plane through and through and have the support system to keep them going. @LpmVr MIG29 is not just better as a plane, it has better misiles too. R77 have grater range than AIM120, and it's more agile and accurat than AIM120. New R77M1 have 175+km AIM120D have 130km. In all cases MIG29 were shou down by 4-5 F15 suported by AWACS was fighting against one MIG29. In Serbia one MIG29 was fighting against 22 NATO planes. Mig29 is good plane, but it can't do miracle. See video about MIG29OVT, or MIG35, no US planes can even dream to do such maneures.

Everything gets old. The 4th generation F-15 stands no chance against a 5th generation aircraft. With other countries continuing to research 5th generation aircraft the US has to stay ahead of them and continue to make better aircraft.

They did not have a lock and fired a ton of rounds and missles in the 117's direction. If the 117 didnt fly the same flight pattern over and over the Russians would have never even got a chance to fire all that crap at it and hit it.

That agility was taken from the f-16 matv, f-15 active, f-18 harv prototypees and designed into the f-22. Where do you think the Russians copied their thrust vectoring technology from? the f15 has 104 kills to no losses. this is all combined numbers form all user nations. that being said the most advanced plane its killed is mig 29 over kosovo. the e and later variants are more than a match for any corrent russian fighter. save maybe the su30mk1. but with the new missles the f15 has all butthe raptor are deadmeat.
we should have mass produced the f-15 active and the f-18 harv with the f-16 matv and no one would be talking about how good the russian jets are. they are a copy of things we did 15 years ago.

Yes, the F-22 can fly faster because of the internal bays, (Mach 2.0 burn) and the Sukhoi generations can fly at a NES of Mach 1.5 on full weapons. on light of no load-mach 2.5+(burn)

I can't prove it b/c I haven't flown any of them. "Tricks" are great at air shows but America has a history of building BATTLE PROVEN superior aircraft i.e. the P-51, F-86, F-4, F-14, F-15. And BTW, there are videos that you can find on youtube of the F-22 performimg the same maneuvers we have all seen the SU-27 and SU-35 do. I work in the squadron which flies this jet. Unfortunately it was our last year to have a demo team, but the Raptor will be taking over and should put on a hell of a show. They've been working on the demo for the Raptor lately and it should debut later this month.
Was stationed at RAF Bentwaters, UK several yrs ago, and two F-15 from Bitburg AB, Germany had flown in for a few days. When they departed, (Two-ship formation, in tamdem, not seperate rollouts) the lead took a normal takeoff climb, his wingman threw it into a barrel roll almost as soon as his gear cleared the runway. F#*%ing coolest thing in the world!!!

Steath increases the work the enemy has to do to detect you and therefore reduces inbound enemy fire.

And as I recall, the jets in Serbia were detected passively via cell towers, not radar returns.

Hehe, LOL to all those saying russian equipment is better. They have like, a total of five jets which are even worthy of contesting our F-15. And we have squadrons full of F-15's which are rapidly being replaced by F-22's...so, any air war against russia would be a fun turkey shoot for our pilots.

I hope the planned "Golden Eagles" hold up. Somehow I'm just not sold on less than 200 Raptors and basically the F-35 becoming the predominant USAF fighter.

True, nobody should underestimate any prototype R&D project's capability in any Military.
In fact, this is a major reason why NATO is pushing so hard for European based missile defence against future missile threats from 'very real' R&D missile capabilities, shown by militaries such as Iranian rev guard.

Do you realise what the Russians had to do in order to shoot down the 117? They got lucky, end of story. I suggest you do some research on what they actually had to do in order to even shoot at it. They did not have a lock and fired a ton of rounds and missles in the 117's direction. If the 117 didnt fly the same flight pattern over and over the Russians would have never even got a chance to fire all that crap at it and hit it.

serbs shot it down... i have a college degree in aeronautical engineering...so i think i know my facts... they did have a lock... although the nav. system and warhead were modified, and speculation has arose about whether or not a tile was missing so stealth was gone... im not looking for an argument man.

What good are your slow movement characteristics when you cant even see the f-22 or lock onto it? The f-22 has the same agility as these planes. That agility was taken from the f-16 matv, f-15 active, f-18 harv prototypees and designed into the f-22. Where do you think the Russians copied their thrust vectoring technology from? They got it from the previous stated planes that we designed in the early 90's.

the f15 has 104 kills to no losses. this is all combined numbers form all user nations. that being said the most advanced plane its killed is mig 29 over kosovo. the e and later variants are more than a match for any corrent russian fighter. save maybe the su30mk1. but with the new missles the f15 has all butthe raptor are deadmeat.

the F-15 is waayyy not of date. The F-15 has a ZERO combat losses. So its quite a good fighter. And do you mean the Su-27? Cause Mig-29s are a fight for 15s, during Desert Storm, we blew them outta the sky.

considering the su-37 is only a technology demonstrator and only 2 have ever been built i doubt they would eat f-15s alive all day. The sukhois that are in the greatest numbers are the su-27 and su-30. if you look at the numbers the sukhois arent any better. I'll take the Eagles combat record any day

Yes, the F-22 can fly faster because of the internal bays, (Mach 2.0 burn) and the Sukhoi generations can fly at a NES of Mach 1.5 on full weapons. on light of no load-mach 2.5+(burn)

Why are we even comparing the f-15 to new generation aircraft Russian or what not? Yes it can be beat because it is an old aircraft which by the way was the best aircraft of its time and still can hold its ground. I love this aircraft its still exciting to see it in airshows. Personal opinion here.

I can't prove it b/c I haven't flown any of them. "Tricks" are great at air shows but America has a history of building BATTLE PROVEN superior aircraft i.e. the P-51, F-86, F-4, F-14, F-15. Just think about it and make a logical decision. Do you really think America would develop a plane that is inferior to anything else out there after all these years of air superiority?

And BTW, there are videos that you can find on youtube of the F-22 performimg the same maneuvers we have all seen the SU-27 and SU-35 do. Like I said tricks are great for airshows but the Raptor has it where it counts. Superior avionics, stealth, and the best support systems. The Russian planes are impressive but I believe the F-22 is far superior.

I work in the squadron which flies this jet. Unfortunately it was our last year to have a demo team, but the Raptor will be taking over and should put on a hell of a show. They've been working on the demo for the Raptor lately and it should debut later this month.

Was stationed at RAF Bentwaters, UK several yrs ago, and two F-15 from Bitburg AB, Germany had flown in for a few days. When they departed, (Two-ship formation, in tamdem, not seperate rollouts) the lead took a normal takeoff climb, his wingman threw it into a barrel roll almost as soon as his gear cleared the runway. F#*%ing coolest thing in the world!!!
