Does that mean the further we go in this crazy show, then the LESS the Voice at the Beginning will sound human and more like... like something inside the Wired?
I watched this a long time ago on, i believe, the G4 channel when it was still TechTV or had just been changed to G4. I've never seen it again, until now. Thanks go to you and lonewolflovergirl for posting this amazing show. I am so happy to be able to watch it again!

Too many people are thinking that this is a good anime. Look at this episode: do you know when people working on the anime do stuff like this? to replay bits of previous episodes? It's when they run out of ideas and is tired.
This is the NGE portion of Lain. I think it can be excused since the last 10 episodes haven't been generic mecha anime with unrelated religous symbolism just to seem artistic. That and it won't ever devolve into a completely unnessacary and obvious psychoanalysis of it's shitty characters. In short: please don't compare Lain to that crap.
Metallic fail quality. At least I can see the ending. I've been wanting to know how they conclude LAIN for awhile. And this song has been stuck in my head for months.
Hey, acording to wikipedia the anime has several references, including Timothy Leary, maybe if you go to wikipedia and read some articles you could understand better.
Recomend to you to watch videos about Terence Mckenna, about "DMT" and other psychedellics.
@Zellig i've done a shit ton of dissociatives and just rewatched this series. most events in this series are almost identical to the ketamine experience, particularly the alien feeling, yet still feeling that everyone is connected.
i probably started doing dissociatives because of this series though. ketamine was used by lilly but it's no 'native american narcotic' which is an inaccuracy on their part, maybe purposefully so. japan has a much stronger taboo against drug use than the USA.

I have to admit I have wondered about that too, and it is just to say that this story basically take place in this time, and the luagh is just for effect i think and there is a possibility of stuff like this happening (i like to keep a very open mind)
Even though the anime is more than 11 years old.. lol now that's scary to think of technology like that from 11 years ago!!
lol.. its also kinda interesting how the matrix was released just one year after this anime was finished in 1998, this means that Serial Experiments Lain and the Matrix were probably being written at the same time. All these similar theories really dont seem to point towards anything that might, is, and will happen in the future, now do they? =P
Wow, this anime is crazy, but good. I was at the end of the first part of this episode before I even realized that it is a recap episode. If there was ever a show that could make its viewers go crazy just by watching, it's this one. But it really is a great anime.
odd though it is, i have an idea to share, since this is a somewhat philosophical anime and the fan comments should reflect that.
Nobody is dead, only some people, whether they be biologically alive or dead, are forgotten because they don't stand in front of somebody else proclaiming their own presence. if nobody sees you, hears you or thinks about you, then you don't exist.
just a thought. a bit off-topic I know, sorry. ^_^
yes Moku, I also noticed that. It is indeed a contradiction but she does make a point. If no one sees you or hears you. If nobody knows you are there then why should it matter if you exist or not? You might as well not exist
Well, actually you exist if you're able to realize no one knows you exist. You have to be alive to have conciousness, but the plot of this series is all about questioning that.
I gotta say, the new Serial Experiments Lain official music video isn't quite what I expected.

@ebm93 Hi!! These nemes are 1."Wind of Space-time" and 2."Like a Lizard". They are recorded on Lain's soundtracks.
You can listen them here!

the audio quality isn't so outlandish as I'd expect a memory would not sound as clear as the actual events should
