  • I gotta say, the new Serial Experiments Lain official music video isn't quite what I expected.

  • Well, that clears that up. I'm so glad that, as we approach the end, everything gets more lucid.

  • 3 people disliked this

  • Duuuuude...

  • Now there goes a great AI with a human body UI. Don't think she got the 3 laws installed, though.

  • @satansangellight The Three Laws are flawed.

  • WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG USED IN THE CLIPSHOW?!

  • Comment removed

  • If you're here because you've already seen the episode and want some of that awesome flashback music, 2:58 should do you. Enjoy!

  • the audio quality isn't so outlandish as I'd expect a memory would not sound as clear as the actual events should

  • I think the opening sounds a little distorted now ?_?

  • So this is what being on drugs feels like.

  • @Sqall98

Does that mean the further we go in this crazy show, then the LESS the Voice at the Beginning will sound human and more like... like something inside the Wired?

  • @1aundulxaldin I think it's just the particular quality of this encode.

  • This is like one long, trippy acid flashback!

  • recap episode?

  • I watched this a long time ago on, i believe, the G4 channel when it was still TechTV or had just been changed to G4. I've never seen it again, until now. Thanks go to you and lonewolflovergirl for posting this amazing show. I am so happy to be able to watch it again!

  • Lain is remembering her LIFE :DD -tear-

  • guitar: Nakaido Reichi (CHABO), ED singer

  • How many people commit suicide in this show, anyhow?

  • I don't know why, but the mediocre sound quality makes this even better.

  • This is the NGE portion of Lain. I think it can be excused since the last 10 episodes haven't been generic mecha anime with unrelated religous symbolism just to seem artistic. That and it won't ever devolve into a completely unnessacary and obvious psychoanalysis of it's shitty characters. In short: please don't compare Lain to that crap.

  • Metallic fail quality. At least I can see the ending. I've been wanting to know how they conclude LAIN for awhile. And this song has been stuck in my head for months.

  • 9 minutes of pure confusion....

  • Can someone please tell me the drugs these writers were on?! dear lord, it's trippy when your sobber.

How on earth do they explain it all in two episodes... :S

But I love that opening song! ^_^

  • lain is quite possibly the craziest anime ive ever seen, and i love every bit of it xD

  • Hey, acording to wikipedia the anime has several references, including Timothy Leary, maybe if you go to wikipedia and read some articles you could understand better.

Recomend to you to watch videos about Terence Mckenna, about "DMT" and other psychedellics.

    Bye

  • @luna13angel I'm guessing Ketamine. Research John C. Lily. They talk about him in protocol.

  • @Zellig i've done a shit ton of dissociatives and just rewatched this series. most events in this series are almost identical to the ketamine experience, particularly the alien feeling, yet still feeling that everyone is connected.

i probably started doing dissociatives because of this series though. ketamine was used by lilly but it's no 'native american narcotic' which is an inaccuracy on their part, maybe purposefully so. japan has a much stronger taboo against drug use than the USA.

  • @luna13angel Ketamine. Look up John C Lilly and the video game Ecco The Dolphin. They refrence both, in the series.

  • wheres the next one?

  • Someone needs to make an AMV with music From Venetian Snares and this anime

  • This is not part of the story folks, it's a recap of all the episodes up to this point with creepy music playing..move along to part 2 ^^

  • the opening tottaly sounds like from the tubes comercail! XD

  • for fucks sake i waited like 15 minutes for it to load and it dident even have any story god fuckin damnit

  • any1 know what the music at 4.40 is named?

  • I don't recognize it but its definitely psychedelic blues rock. Sounds almost like Hendrix.

  • dude that background sound if freaking me out, like seriously... is lain taking over the world??

  • wow, i like this series,

    PRESENT DAY, PRESENT TIME HAHAHA

    insane a little?

  • I realized that the "Present Day... Present Time" means it's happening like... probably right now XD Something to scare the viewers, I guess.

  • Yeah I realized it too ;3

  • OMG that woman whose on the train tracks with the changing faces is probably the most frightening thing I've ever seen animated...

  • Reminds me of the changing face towards the end of David Lynch's Inland Empire. Scary stuff as well....

  • That was the least informative recap I've ever seen. Good thing I watched the previous 10 episodes....

  • I always have wondered but never asked

    whats with the

    "Present day, heh..

    Present time, hahahahaha!"

    thing at the beginning?

  • I have to admit I have wondered about that too, and it is just to say that this story basically take place in this time, and the luagh is just for effect i think and there is a possibility of stuff like this happening (i like to keep a very open mind)

  • oh yeah, I suppose so. Maybe its to remind you that even though the stuff in this may look futuristic its actually present time?

  • Even though the anime is more than 11 years old.. lol now that's scary to think of technology like that from 11 years ago!!

lol.. its also kinda interesting how the matrix was released just one year after this anime was finished in 1998, this means that Serial Experiments Lain and the Matrix were probably being written at the same time. All these similar theories really dont seem to point towards anything that might, is, and will happen in the future, now do they? =P

    Just a thought...

  • Maybe it's happening right now

  • The Matrix was based on Ghost In The Shell, SEL's Question and GITS questions are similiar but SEL does it in more detail as it is a TV series.

  • @Wizzaard more thabn anyhthing i think GITS explores society and psychology and SEL is more aboput phylosophy and metaphysics

  • omg y did they change the entrance after the theme song?

  • WTF?! XD Think different? Mac??

  • ya think different like everyone else in the world

  • Yeah...lol

  • Boa Kwon is a korean singer who speaks japanese, english and other laguages flowing-.-'

  • Uh...it's is a British band called Boa. No connection.

  • this is...an episode? X.x my ears

  • Yeah, theres obv something up with the sound.

  • it sounds like a band called bongwater.

  • Who's recording the audio out of a tin can??

  • Nice analogy

  • Wow, this anime is crazy, but good. I was at the end of the first part of this episode before I even realized that it is a recap episode. If there was ever a show that could make its viewers go crazy just by watching, it's this one. But it really is a great anime.

  • Well... it's not quite a recap episode (new stuff does come), but the beginning is a recap.

  • I NEED THIS DAMN SONG

  • If you want it so bad, it's called Duvet by BOA.

Just in case you didn't know

  • just know that the Boa who does this song IS NOT the korean pop singer. Look up Jasmine Rodgers on Wikipedia.

  • am i dead?

  • I ask myself that same question almost every day xD

  • you sure do

  • odd though it is, i have an idea to share, since this is a somewhat philosophical anime and the fan comments should reflect that.

Nobody is dead, only some people, whether they be biologically alive or dead, are forgotten because they don't stand in front of somebody else proclaiming their own presence. if nobody sees you, hears you or thinks about you, then you don't exist.

    just a thought. a bit off-topic I know, sorry. ^_^

  • "Nobody is dead, only some people" HUM

  • yes Moku, I also noticed that. It is indeed a contradiction but she does make a point. If no one sees you or hears you. If nobody knows you are there then why should it matter if you exist or not? You might as well not exist

  • Well, actually you exist if you're able to realize no one knows you exist. You have to be alive to have conciousness, but the plot of this series is all about questioning that.

  • I heard that a person can fie two times the first time the person just dies the second time if the person is forgotten

  • If you know you exist and if you can se yourself as a individual then thats all that you need for you to exist

  • i dont care , but it scares the shit outta me

  • Yes it does. Hahaha.

  • Pretty cool though.

  • wats wit all da flashback??

  • It's her memories.

  • actually, think. weren't the viewers the only people who knew this stuff? She's watching from a 3rd person perspective.

  • Hey, at least I can hear the Wired like Lain! LOL!

  • I missed hearing the voices for a while xD

  • tubes...

  • dude, rock jazz... sweet

  • I like the adieo
