Ubuntu 9.10 vs windows xp boot time

I use Ubuntu Lucid LTS 10.04 and it takes 5sec's to boot up as be ready to use even go online. My WindowsXP Pro with a extra fast boot app still takes 35sec's to get booted. And then you usually have to wait or reset your internet connection to get online!

@MultiYippee Fresh install meaning just the OS and drivers, no bloatware. If he didn't have all the drivers installed, Windows XP would have launched the New Hardware Wizard after loading the desktop.

Actually I did , but windows 7 is much much slower than xp and ubuntu in boot time. I will upload new video until I buy new camera.

Windows XP is better in compatibility and games, as well as tasks, applications, video and audio editing and is quite useful. The only good thing is ubuntu compiz fusion, which is of no jajajajaja XD XD XD

@kobra0101 9 out of 10 things will work in linux, while in windows they're start killing each other, compiz is for kids, i'll do all my tasks in Ubuntu (video, image, audio editing; programing; gaming; browsing; media;), and i did not found better OS to run servers. The point is why you are telling this is that you never tried and did not find alternatives, moreover you're afraid to learn something new so youre stuck to windows.

@kobra0101 Ever heard of LibreOffice, VLC and Audacity? Both those applications have Windows and Linux versions. You don't even have to search for the applications in Ubuntu - just go to the software catalogue and choose the apps you want. Ubuntu does the rest.

As for games, well... sort of, but most of the id Software titles have native Linux clients.

@EICTeam Compare windows 7 and 10.04 - newest versions of these, if you're comparing xp to linux then use xp and xubuntu or something like that... look how much xp and gnome eats and what are the requirements so youre comparing new os (ubuntu) meant to be ran in new PC's and old windows for old pc's in new computer

What you said doesn't make any sense dude. OSs dont get faster as time goes on, they get slower.

Vista was newer then XP and xp is still faster, xp is newer then windows 2000 and 2000 boots faster so on and so on. Ubuntu is faster because its on a unix platform and doesn't have a bunch of useless crap to load like windows does.

New way to install like a app which does all the commands for installing like make etc

LOL dude you did it again. Vista isn't faster then XP lol, XP was 1st silly.

XP even boots faster then 7 in legacy hardware.

As for linux , it can't be helped their always going to have a up and down since they are not a huge multi-billion company. For a open source OS i'm surprised it even made it this far. I wish people put time and money in this OS.

any how who really cares about boot time its really all down to how good the system works, which windows 7 works great and Ubuntu 9.10 seems to working while expect no easy way to extract .z01 with out the silly command lines.
