  • Learned this technique from this video. When I'm hanging with friends, I'll use this to pick up difficult splits that are extremely tough if hooking from the right side. Or if the lanes are drier, I can convert ten pins with it.

  • I'm pretty sure my wrist would just snap completely off if I tried throwing a ball like that.

  • i wonder if he's got a couple balls drilled for lefty for backup shots. So the wt block's flippin' the right way. Guess the finger/thumb holes don't roll through the track on a back up drilled for righty if your are?

  • dood if he could do this accurately (which im sure he can) he would have the worlds biggest advantage cuz most bowlers are rightys if he does back up no one would use his oil and the conditions wont break down nearly as fast

  • @jakeg111222333 good point, but he would probably use it more for tough righty splits. like the 2-8-10

  • @TVguy2011 yeah just on of the many advantages bout osku

  • @jakeg111222333 lol, osku is such a boss, funny too

  • @TVguy2011 which is exactly why he made it to the finals with belmo rash and shafer

  • @jakeg111222333 i hate shafer tho and sean rash gets to frustrated when he does bad.

  • @TVguy2011 i hate shafer too but rash has improved his focus his additute and game i enjoy watchin him

  • @jakeg111222333 rash is really a good bowler but i just dont understand him sometimes.

  • @TVguy2011 one of his issues is tempo he gets hyper easy and it destorys him

  • @TVguy2011 osku won the wsob :)

  • @jakeg111222333 and the 2010 shark championship

  • man you should of did that to every bowler you vs.

  • That how I pick up my 10 pin, League claims it's illegal to go from 1 handed to 2 handed in the middle of the same frame for that kind of pick up. Now I'm not sure at all.

  • @P1nku5floydu5 to the best of my knowledge, if its a usbc league, all you have to do is throw the strike ball the same each frame, no rules on the spare ball technique.

  • @piman0301040105 Yes, that's a good point, I should get more strikes often. That way I can forget about going up a second time.

On a side note, I roll a better "1 handed" back up than I do picking that 10 pin up the normal way. So I ruled out my own problem with that.

  • Osku even makes backup balls look awesome lol

  • Wow.... Talk about drama. When I was 12 I bowled two handed just to put revs on the ball for fun. Not like I did it in league, dad always got on me about bowling the right way as funny as it relates to all the talk these days. Anyways bowling like that taught me how to snap my wrist. They're still me I don't bowl right.... High backswing, 18mph (at the break point) and 550rpms. I can't win.

  • @xxXnonchalantXxx lol i was the same when i started bowling i bowled 2 handed, i figured that out by accident lol and when i did it did the same for me, taught me how to snap my wrist.. once i started bowling one handed though i got a much slower rev rate but way more control, my average shot up xD

  • hey @kingkongbunker i hate to break it to you but osku and belmo can throw it one handed and can put on a shit ton of revs ive seen both of them throw it like that

  • i roll that exact same shot but the opposite way because i am a lefty. use it to make 7-pins

  • I tried getting a nice back-up ball with two hands at my league. I got the back-up ball... but it wouldn't stay on the lane...

  • Jesus, another idiot sucking the dick of yet another friday night 12:00 am palm bowling rock 'n' bowler. Pathetic.

  • can someone help me with this i bowl the same way but im a lefty

im not sure how much hand to put on it

  • Two handed bowling can work nice if you can control it like these guys. Probably takes a lot of practice, or when you started young.

Backup balls are interesting, i watched some bowling videos from the 50's and it seems that is was somewhat common for bowlers to use backup balls for some splits like the baby split, etc.

  • the difference between this, and his regular one. is more of how he walked. then how he did his wrist.

  • cool!!........never played 10 pin but play 5 pin but this is amazing to see the back up ball in 10 pin i've always seen the back up used in 5 pin because it's the most effective way of knocking the all the pins down maybe it will have the same effect in 10 pin

  • Wow, just like the descriptions says:

"This is how you do it"

  • I bowl the exact same way, i've been getting higher scores now

  • I bowl back up like this all the time, And I only use one hand, You just put the weight of the ball on your middle finger and twist to the right if your right handed, I play on the far right side of the lane and shoot to the left the ball hooks back to the right and hits the pins right in the sweet spot.

  • ya the only difference is he has 100x more power backup than u do throwing it normal

  • do it with one hand....that would be impressive.

  • Bowling two handed is just as diffivult as with one hand. Post a video of yourself throwing it that hard an that accurate.

  • Yep, but its easier to throw a backup ball while two-handed/two-fingered. I know from experience

  • @llllllMIKEllllll I'm a 2-handed bowler and its really hard for me to throw a back-up two handed, i can do it really good 1 handed but not 2 handed

  • it's easy to hook with 2 hands/no-thumb but hard to be consistent. though some players do become very consistent with that style, like osku and belmo and cassidy schaub and mike miller.

  • thank you for adding Cassidy Schaub... I think he throws the ball very well for a LH 2H but Thunderbowl was not very nice to Lefties.... ask Parker

  • @sumtwig07 it was for ryan...

  • whats a backup ball?

  • wow... ok well simply put its where a "right-handed bowler" throws a bowl with the same ball reaction as a left handed bowler or vise versa. meaning the ball for a right hander (which theoretically should hook to the left) will hook to the right. as shown very well by Osku

  • okay :) i got it

  • thats sick i pick up my tens for fun like that i almost nvr miss keyword almost lol i wish i cood use 2 hands effectively but o well this guys a MONSTER!

  • you cant stop two handing, bollocks. Like all sports its serious but theres also entertainment value. Like in football or basketball you, cant penalise a player for using more skils than the other team. And i for one never tire of watching osku, infact if there was any bowler in the world i would choose to watch right now it would be osku

  • Uhm..i thought a backup ball was where you throw it straight down the lane...?

  • yea...that would be a no

  • haha, nice one

  • thats a spare ball

  • yah i duno i think that using 2 hands is an advantage for sure you can have higher revs and speed which can give extra leway on harder patterns

  • Oh fuck you. Seriously. I'm so tired of people like you. Just fuck off. Jason Belmonte is world amateur of the year, Osku is winning in Europe and made the U.S. Open at the age of 20. Give me an educated statement to why bowling 2 handed is bad.

  • agreed u still have to hit ur mark and the same spot ever time like ev else....and understand that i believe its much more harder to throw hook on a sport pattern then less hook...this is what makes norm duke, walter ray so great.... they play straight up for the most part.

  • walter ray does not play a straight shot and norm duke is starting to get out of it

  • your such a moron

  • because im right?

  • no your nowhere near right lol your completely wrong in every way

  • have you watched them bowl lately? dumb ass

  • yes dumb ass. they are never left of frickin middle dot on the lane. the last show duke went straight up the outside, your a moron and learn how to bowl instead of showing us how to do push-ups.

  • ok we are thinking different types of big hook...i thought you meant that they were like starting on the middle arrow and throwing at the 3rd arrow for like 5 boards of hook i didnt know you were talking about playing the outside and stuff sorry

  • lol yea that could cause confusion. they can both hook the whole lane, but duke and WRW both try and play straighter up the outside like 5 board cuz they just do better with it.

  • yea i was thinking that you were talking about when duke first started and threw super straight haha my bad

  • the reason he played that straight was because the balls were so hard and they didn't have the technology. they were rubber and plastic, and you know plastic doesn't hook worth a shit.

  • yea haha

  • actually, a lot of "straight" players hooked a lot back then (in the 80's and early 90's) in the urethane and early reactive resin era because the lanes weren't as heavily oiled and without the powerful balls of today it was the only way to get enough angle and carry the pins. watch videos of players like WRW, parker bohn, norm duke, etc from 15-20 years ago.

  • ok....nobody plays a lazerbeam straight shot. what theyre saying is that he doesnt belly the ball like malott, rash, or any other power player. usually (like 98% of the time) walters ball is up 5 or 10 and not thrown at the gutter, just directly down the lane. yes it hooks, but as anybody that knows anything about bowling and theyll say hes a straight player or that hes made a living throwing the ball straight.

    fucking lighten up.

  • @Curtie555 The style of 2 handed puts immense stress on the lower abdomen thus leading to injuries such as hernias.

  • @Curtie555 One of the main reasons that two-handed bowling is bad is because its seen as someone making up for lack of ability to put revs on the ball the traditional way (typically due to lack of arm/wrist strength) by using your other arm to compensate.

Basically its the way that weak/lazy bowlers make up for the unwillingness to work on their game

  • @KingKongBunker Funny thing is belmonte could still beat you one-handed. You do realize that both he and oksu can still bowl 200s with one hand? Both of them can still put 450+ revs on a one-handed ball. I happened to run into Belmonte in Texas one time. He was doing some bowling class thing. He bowled for 2 hours one handed and the lowest score i saw out of him was 190 because he threw a few weird balls to demonstrate over-muscling, poor armswing, etc.

  • @iwasadeum

200s with one hand? Oh no, they're typical league bowlers when not crutching on extra revs.

  • @KingKongBunker How is it crutching? You stupid, jealous pig. If it's so easy then why dont you do it? I can guarantee that his one-handed average can crush your best game. What do you have to say for men like Tommy Jones and Robert Smith, then, who generate 550+ rpms? Are they "cheaters" too? Pathetic kid. Go on and keep saying two-handers are lazy bowlers. If it was so easy then more people would be doing it, moron.

  • @KingKongBunker You think they dont work on their game? If 2-handed bowling was so much easier, then why are there only 2 pros who can do it? It takes skill and practice, no matter what your form, to reach the PBA. I can bet you've never bowled in a PBA match, hm?

  • @iwasadeum

You'd be wrong on every account.

    Why you so mad, bro?

  • @KingKongBunker oh shut up, if 2 handed bowling is bad then please explain how jason belmonte and osku palermaa won multiple titles. they can beat your ass any day of their lives and on any day of yours, bitch

  • @KingKongBunker You see how your "argument" is being stupid right? You can't complain about something being easier, since it's not illegal. What is stupid is saying it's easier, and still not do it. What's the point of bowling then? Having enough strenght on one hand to be able to put revs on the ball? Tt's just averaging high.

  • @Curtie555 Because they've tried it and cant do it XD

No such thing as correct form in bowling. If it works consistently, then throw it that way, IMHO.

  • @Curtie555

Not to mention belmo just won 2 titles in 1 day at the wsob haha

  • i agree with with you

this 2 handed shit has gotta stop

  • that's how you pick up the 2-8-10 and greek church for right handed bowlers (4-6-7-9-10). go for the 4-9

  • dude ur so right lol i picked up the greek church the other day with a backup ball lol

  • osku is a big diva

  • That's awesome...on a pattern that favors the lefties, he would kill, if the shots better on the right side he can do that too!!

The USBC says it's illegal to switch hands while bowling, however he's not technically switching hands....pure genious!!!

  • ight bro... two handing is just straight up sloppy it takes real skill to roll one handed... the game was ment to be played 1 handed.. all two handers do is brun up the oil the pattern in bad spots and ruin it for others.. watch tommy jones over jason belmonte in the weber cup..

  • Mike, your a dumbass, do your homework before you say stupid shit like that. Belmonte is the number one amature in the world and is making way more money than any of the PBA players on tour. plus it's easy to adjust to burnt up conditions anyway unless you suck ass which you probly do, that's why your whining so much

  • LMFAO finally someone who knows what there talking about! Belmo makes more then all the pba guys and if he wanted to be on tour he would be and would be one of the very best, and anyone who TRULY understands bowling knows that... i.e. Mark Baker "Jason Belmonte would beat anyone of Dick Ritgers students who say "2 handed bowling is an abonination" including Kelly Kuliek She couldnt hold Jasons jock"

  • @sguined Youmad?

  • mike it's not like you can do it properly

  • You're right, the game was originally meant for one hand but there is currently no rule against using two hands

  • y should it be illegal it still takes skill to bowl like that i recently slice my thumb open which required 6 stitches and of course it was my bowling hand so ive been bowling with fingers and 2 hands and i havent been bowling nearly as good as him ur just angry cause u know he'll destroy u in a match...........fag lol

  • no buddy you suck.

  • Well I woiuld say this is good. But he needs to post up his whole game. I posted up more than one of my Backup Ball strikes so Yall should check it out. I am a Backup Bowler from the University of North Texas and I hope to see yall around

  • yea man but you dont understand he is just screwing around here... @ best its used to shoot a spare like the 2-8-10 and to show off that it looks like jason couch threw a shot on the left hand side of the lane but it was actually a 2 hander... I saw your videos and you dont have anywhere near the rev rate he does when he throws a backup which is just him CLEARLY showing off cuz his A game is him hooking the whole lane on the right side and he is still better then you at what your A game is sorry

  • That's a nice strike

  • Holy S**T!!!

  • the shot isn't always the same from lane to lane on the left side.

  • why he dont stay bowling back up, every lane the same coniditon?

  • hes a great bowlei'm still proud of myself i can back up bowl well with alley balls :) hes much better than me tho i have to say

  • osku is the best and nobody else

    :-)

  • thats how i bowl ]

  • i do 5 pin with back up

  • yeah, im so jealous, i only carry a 196 average with a backup ball, im so sad

  • I only average whit a normal shot you say your bad

  • under USBC, which i bowl with, with a backup ball, you must use ony one hand, with all three fingers in the ball to be considered throwing a backup ball.

  • have a cry..ur just jealous coz osku can strike backup with 2 hands

  • wow, you must not know much about bowling, osku is one of the top in is country, if not the top and he made to the weber cup, and it was either he or jason belmonte(btw he is a 2 hander also) threw a 300...

  • Jason threw the 300.

  • yup, thats right i just watched it.

  • Jason is a much better bowler. I bet if Osku bowled the same one handed he wouldn't be as famous.

  • ...actually people who dont rev the balls a lot leave 2 pins, like me... and bowling with 3 fingers is harder for some, and easier for others, if he's good doing it 2 handed, why change? and he's had plenty of 300's way more than you will ever have, and hes only in his young 20s.

  • and he just got world bowler of the year for 2007, so id stay the same lol

  • lmfao you dont know how to spell and you dont know anything about bowling.... he has many 300's more 300's then you have 200's im sure of it... so please shut the fuck up.

  • umm.. before you say something, you sould be certain.. ode has bowled about 30 times a 300 game.. and that´s a fact!

  • Back-up bowlers are not illegal by USBC. One of the JOG National's winners this year throws a back-up ball. Robert Smith did it in Japan.

  • Nice shot, lefty :)

  • 2 things wrong 1 if that was a left handed throw that would be a hook 2 it was hand bowling no specific hand left or right

  • He's clearly a righty...
