  • If you lived 20 odd years with your Mother, you too would dress up with things around the house!

  • My heart breaks for the both of them........it's clear there is Mental Illness...........no doubt....who would let his mother and sister live in such a fashion......let alone Jackie O's aunt and cousin...........come on............

  • Love these amazing women!!

  • Little Edie's mother hindered her in many ways. Any sense of expression Little Edie display her mother stops it. I do not know if in the beginnig her mother was completely jealous of her daughter and hindered many opportunities given, but after a while. Little Edie just could not escape her isolation. Both women? I cannot keep my eyes off of them, they are captivating. Little Edie was broken many years before the documentary. Her mom and her father's abandoment had a lot to do with that.

  • this is one of my favorite parts of the beales of grey gardens...."just put the damn thing on!" i roll every time.....

  • Love it!! Great vid!!

  • Most worrying thing in all this is that so many describe these 2 as completely nuts. Sorry, I don't see it, and probably why I have a hard time 'conforming'. Imaginative, youthful and non conformist. So many people are so bland and dull and need so much artifice to exist. Little Edie is everything with nothing because as already said her breeding, genetics and multi-intelligences carry her through.

  • I agree with all that I am reading about t Edie. A woman ahead of her time. She was a beautiful woman with a natural elegance and style that could not be taken from her no matter what happened around her.

  • what never ceases to amaze me is how did Edie look so fabulous & so colour co-ordinated...when as we have seen from GG they lived in such an unkempt house!? who did the washing & ironing??? where did Little Edie store her fab outfits???!

  • its a Gooooegeous thing!!!!!

  • Swing Out Sister from the U. K. paid homage to Edie in their video "Notgonnachange" Corinne was channeling Edie,

  • of course i adore little edie (who doesn't!!) but i love the way big edie is still so forthright at getting herself & her POV across despite being mostly bed ridden & elderly...in the movie version of grey gardens they make bid edie appear to be qute the bad guy/gal in their dynamic & emphasise only her controlling side.

  • This should have been in the original movie.

  • I wonder if she received a lot of her clothing from J. Onassis. That black trench reminds me of the one J. was wearing at Onassis's funeral... as well as the military dress she wore with the powder blue dish towel... Looks like the dress from of Bell Du jour.... and I know that was YSL off the rack from his shop in Paris...

  • Edie has a natural regal elegance and her creativity in these outfits is an art.

  • I can find Hildegarde albums online but not this track, does anyone know of a site where I can find it? :(

  • How could anyone not love grey gardens??? Little Edie was such a beautiful person....would have loved to met her or at least seen her on stage!

  • @not2seri0us I agree. Both are very classy ladies. Edie is a beautiful person. Very delicate.

  • She remained a perpetual young person... not too many people can do that...

  • little edie was so naturally elegant and classy and really artistic and creative

  • Edie really could drape fabric. Fabulous...

  • I'm glad that question was answered already as I was just about to ask it. The voice was gorgeous, and I half expected it to be an old recording by Big Edie herself. :]

  • Hey guys! Just to set the song mystery straight...it is infact Hildegard. The credits at the end of my DVD list it as such =) Its a GOOORGEOUS thing

  • Oh, before I forget:the dreamy, wonderful lyrics were written by the legendary

DOROTHY FIELDS, who wrote the lyrics to so many beautiful, classic songs!

For anyone who would like to hear Dorothy Fields sing this song, you can find her lovely version on iTunes! :D

  • What is this song? I love it!

  • SillyWillma,

this beautiful song is Jerome Kern's "I Dream Too Much". I'm unsure who the singer is here but whoever she is she's doing a spendid job!

  • I just found the artist. Her name is Hildegard.

  • That's who I thought it was but folks here on Youtube keep telling me it's Lily Pons singing it. I didn't think so, thanks for straightening that out!

  • Not at all. ^-^
