Also, another point. This is skewed toward more British/European tastes, hence "Unfinished Sympathy" at the top. If this list was done in 1998 in America, I think it would have been radically different (like TKA or Sweet Sensation might have made the list).
@LastBastion9999 I agree. There would have been more freestyle (TKA, Expose) and much more hip hop. But there would have been a lot commercial stuff, some of it crap, on that list too like C&C Music Factory, MC Hammer, Nu Shooz, Madonna. American club music.
I remember this issue very well, sir. Thank you for all the great memories. By the way, I don't think DJ Mag has done another edition of this list since then. They are WAY overdue in putting out an updated version. If they should, I predict Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" will be in the top 5 - that's funny because I think that song was breaking right about when this list was first published. Thanks again, mate, and keep the memories alive for all the world to hear... and see.
@LastBastion9999 I wasn't aware whether or not they had done another one. Yes, long overdue and I'm sure jungle/dnb would still get dissed in favor of house and trance! They should do another one!!!

Wow Massive attack first ! That was unexpected... Very good list although its lacking some techno/jungle/hip-hop/breakbeat classics.

@h3x0r1t1kk Totally agree. Still plenty of good tunes but definitely more on the mainstream tip. Interesting list though.
