This is the 142nd national guard out of Portland Oregon. I know this because there are two places these guys go and train: Out in the Pacific and over in Eastern Oregon. Eastern Oregon looks similar to Iraq, but I can tell the difference between my home and a foreign battlefield.
true dogfight for me isnt shooting misiles but close combat with guns pulling x-tream g /over 9,5/ and getting on the back of the enemy to make the kill. Otherwise great video... thumbs up F15
The US people are not humans they are the simply evil things that look like on us... Did anyone ever sad I'm sorry that you died from my missile. Or was happy if the pilot Ejects. Or the most of the pilots would probably go back to even hit one more time hit plane to be sure the pilot is dead... I'm Sick and tired of those arrogance. Shame on every US citizen that support that kind of army...
@DC5Pro i do not but non the less There is some people under influence of US filthy propaganda. I do not believe how your propaganda is even heartless... You shouldn't even consider a human being, trust me you do not deserve to be one.
@tramvaj12 So why don't you tell us all here which third world country you live in? Usually it's third world country citizens that speak that poorly about us. Like people in Somalia...they hate us but they can't even keep their own country in one piece, let alone keep pirates from venturing out.
@DC5Pro Oh yes, of course you do not know where am I, because you bombed half of a world till now, and still pressing up... The country that living of trading toilet paper for goods... Start counting down the victims your military produced. And I'll stop when you came by. Oh yes the Youtube is small to wright every single victim that you made it.
@tramvaj12 OK I'm done here...I can't even understand what you're trying to say and you still haven't answered my question after the third time. I'm proud to say that I'm an American citizen and it's clear that you obviously aren't proud of where you're from, otherwise you wouldn't be dodging such a simple question.
Nevermind...don't even bother responding because 1) I won't be able to understand what you're trying to say and 2) you're ashamed of your own country. I'm done...
@tramvaj12 Well it's not just my problem, it's everybody else's problem too because you're attempting to speak English and failing miserably. Go back to herding your sheep man...the internet is too big of a place for you.
@DC5Pro If someone should understand it will understand even if my English is bad. Still I saw many people but few of them were that arrogant as Americans. God have mercy upon whole world and protect it from ignorance of the people which is intentionally or accidentally cause it. But I think you do it on purpose. Just calculate people as few numbers and yeah you have acceptable risk to kill them and have fun of that.

@DC5Pro Ive been reading the comments and tramvaj sad his country give the US space technology and his country invented electicity. Well when he turns the light on to go to the toilet, my country invented both of them.
@DC5Pro Do you know from which country am I? From one that sold you space technology that you can send crew to the moon... From that country am I? But do you know who send you on a moon? Do you know because of who do you have electricity from? Do you know an utter shit hole citizen?
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! At 4:25 that's the most amazing footage I've ever seen of air-to-air missile shots. In all these years, that's most clear image I've ever seen of a missile from launch to target. And look how hard it had nto turn to get the target? The people at Raytheon were doing high-fives right there. This video will probably sell millions of dollars worth of missiles for them.
@TigerClaws12894 Don't need it. Get LASIK or some other correctional surgery and you can still fly. I'm gonna join the Air Force or Navy as a fighter pilot. I've looked up the requirements and you can get surgery to fix vision and still be a pilot!
@beargrills96 LMAO, then you never been to IRAQ to make make such statement. Just to educate you the central and southern part of Iraq is mostly desert, when you start going up north, there is lots of green grass to see. JFYI.
This is just training. :-/ They are shooting down drones which is basically preparing them for the real thing. I live near Lakenheath F-15C,s are always training then about 2 hours later they return sometimes with a KC-135R 100AW Mildenhall. When they do go into real combat they know there training and how to deal with the situation because they practice it over and over again. This Video is not in Desert storm change the title its now operation Iraqi Freedom. This is in the USA not Iraq.
@unscrup123 Remotely controlled. No pilot. QF-4's. There's a vid or two about them somewhere around here. It's very expensive, but vital and necessary for training. Pilots will tell you, as far as training goes, nothing else can compare.
I was in Desert Storm in the USAF. What a bullshit title. This is a live fire exercise with F-15's and QF-4 drone's. Probably flown out of either Egland or Tyndall AFB.
@jonesy97 well, do you expect otherwise? Chairforce aficionados are big on glory and short on guts.. just as the fake pretense of this video suggests.. U, of all people, should know about that.
@drouen I'm not selling anything. A lot of people that have no experience, or knowledge of a subject, like to act as if they're the expert. I'm not stating I'm the expert on anything, but I can say with confidence, that when it comes to the subject of aviation in Desert Storm, I have a large degree of knowledge in it. To say I was there isn't "showing off." It wasn't a sporting event. Thousands of us were there. I don't care if anyone believes me, or not. Especially you.
@jonesy97 I agree this did seam to be a training exercise. I mean I would be way more wired then the pilot seams in this video it it was a real dog fight.
I believe that this video was actually taken from the airbase at PDX in Portland, Oregon. They routinely fly out over the Pacific. Thank you for your service. I hope to be a fighter pilot in the Air Force someday.
@sakoshooter48 So were they flying during a live fire test from Fla, or was this done off the west coast somewhere? My guess was Egland weapons test center. Gulf of Mexico.
@jonesy97 Most likely Florida, I think the State of Kuntifornia is too sensitive to have old airplanes fly off and be shot at! Probably has something to do with pollution, gay unborn baby seals, autistic politicians, you know, the usual liberal fare.
@jonesy97 Agreed! This is definitely not Iraq. Love the shots of my homeboys in the 142nd out of Portland. I would guess this was off the coast of Florida, probly in the Gulf.
Migs are a joke my Father was apilot in the Hungarian Air force for over 20 yrs and told me that if the Warsaw Pact would end up in a war with NATO they would had no chance in the Air because NATO Air crafts were much more superior to the Migs and Sukhois.Told me that there were about 5-7 times more accidents in the Warsaw Pact Air Forces and they were always blamed on Pilot's errors but it was mostly engine failures. Most pilots didn't even bail cause if survived the'll be Court Martialed
@mobius1aic Trust me when I say that using countermeasures like flares will most definitely NOT help you one bit what so ever without preforming a manouver to evade, which that drone was doing by making a sharp right turn whilst popping chaff and flares, and hoping to god that missile gets distracted enough to go after at least one of them.
@ralfidude I'm not saying the maneuver wasn't part of the procedure of dumping flares. Maneuvering oneself to get as much flare coverage and "blockage" is important. But you are not outmaneuvering the missile. You're tricking it. Modern non-thrust vectoring dogfight AAMs can well above 20 Gs as long as the motor is burning.
@mobius1aic if by "outmaneuver" you mean vertical climb, sure. Yanking back on the stick isn't what I call a maneuver. Especially facing a head-on shot.
@kozmon0t Was it a head on shot? The video quality and compression makes it difficult to tell the original direction, but to me it looks like the target in question was somewhere in the 90 degree area before pull up. Basically what I'm trying to say, is that even at such an off angle like 90 degrees with a decently high relative speed is not enough to escape an AIM-9. What I've failed to mention before is that it looks like the drone is losing speed in it's climb too, further dooming it.....
@mobius1aic Of course it lost speed, that's why instructing the drone to evade with a climb isn't much of a test.
Think of a missile as an enemy plane trying to ram you. The missile has to pull lead to catch you, just like tracking with a gunsight. It can't get you with lag pursuit. You can't outturn it, but if you keep rolling, it has to reestablish its lead, besides contending with countermeasures.
It still might not work, but it's better than using the elevators. That drone was a noob.
@kozmon0t I know exactly how missiles work and rolling isn't much of a test for a missile that is easily capable of pulling 20+ gs, especially if it's a short range shot to the rear of the target. Even if the missile actually misses you, you will be in range of the expanding rod warhead. Have you also not seen any of the AIM-9X vids?
Like I previously said, this video was a fine example of the ability for even a non-thrust vectoring missile to easily change direction to meet the target.
@mobius1aic It doesn't matter how many g's something can pull, if you roll out of plane, it still has to start tracking all over again. That is the weakness of any aerial vehicle trying to ram another - its reaction time must be quicker and quicker as it approaches the target, and nearly instantaneous at close range.
Your aim-9x videos might involve competent evasion, but I doubt it, considering how rare good evasion is even in dogfight videos.
@kozmon0t You forget that most missiles do not have roll more than 45 degrees at the very most in order to be in plane with a maneuver, and enjoy fast enough reaction time to counter the unpredictable human mind (though the maneuvering limits of an aircraft allow you to have a certain idea of what an enemy plane can do at a specific point). And as pointed out earlier: expanding rod warhead!
@mobius1aic unless the pursuer has saddled your aircraft, it's always possible to keep your maneuvering out of plane, just keep the roll constant, and you're never in any plane more than instantaneously. Which led to the accidental invention of scissors. It's still the time-tested way to defeat a tighter-turning aircraft. That's all a missile really is, except it's flown by a kamikaze robot.
I think the best defense is a combo of staying off nose, and firing flares in the right direction.
@kozmon0t Ulgh, you just don't plain (no pun) get it do you? Dogfight missiles pull way too many instantaneous and sustained Gs to effectively outmaneuver it. You live in anime-fantasy-video game land don't you? And scissoring won't defeat a tighter turning opponent at all, unless you happen to have a massively better thrust to weight ratio, and even still, the aircraft with better AoA and lift characteristics is much more likely to have more chances to gun his opponent or get on his tail.
@mobius1aic me: "the best defense is a combo of staying off nose, and firing flares in the right direction."
I didn't say maneuvers alone. RS-type barreling gets you off nose, and sends flares in many directions. A missile won't follow a flare forever, but if it does for even a fraction of a second, it gives you a chance to get out of its cone - as long as the flare leads it in the wrong direction. If all you do is turn, the flares are a trail of bread crumbs leading the missile to you.
@truonghthe It may very well be training, but that's no drone. They don't dogfight with drones. That's a MiG 29 Fulcrum, if you pause it at 2:51 you can see its outline plane as day. This was Desert Storm, when Iraq had an air force. Remember that though the planes were inferior, they still had more pilots with actual combat experience than we did.
@bigbengamer dessert storm? why it had a blue back ground under the low cloud? this is training out in the ocean area, just in case some thing goes wrong so no civilian get hurt.
In Desert Storm (the 1991 war, not to be confused with the 2003 war with Iraq; I only say this because some comments seem confused about this) the F-4G was still used by the USAF in the "wild weasel" (supression /destruction of enemy air defenses) role. From the video, I can't say for sure it's a USAF bird, but it seems the WWs were allowed to "go fancy" in their paint jobs (especially the tail) as a little Google and/or Wiki will show.
@BazBear65 well it was USAF you can barely see the insignia on the side of the plane but i can't tell it it was an f-4 or and f-4g it doen's have the checkered yellow and black stripes so i suppose it wasn't a Wild Weasel F-4G might just be an F-4
Sidewinder был выпущен со слишком малой дистанции и без упреждения на вираж цели с тепловыми отстрелами,а второй МИГ вместо крутого виража полез на вертикаль и был сбит.

That drone was a noob.
kozmon0t 2 months ago
@kozmon0t I know exactly how missiles work and rolling isn't much of a test for a missile that is easily capable of pulling 20+ gs, especially if it's a short range shot to the rear of the target. Even if the missile actually misses you, you will be in range of the expanding rod warhead. Have you also not seen any of the AIM-9X vids?
Like I previously said, this video was a fine example of the ability for even a non-thrust vectoring missile to easily change direction to meet the target.
mobius1aic 2 months ago
@mobius1aic It doesn't matter how many g's something can pull, if you roll out of plane, it still has to start tracking all over again. That is the weakness of any aerial vehicle trying to ram another - its reaction time must be quicker and quicker as it approaches the target, and nearly instantaneous at close range.
Your aim-9x videos might involve competent evasion, but I doubt it, considering how rare good evasion is even in dogfight videos.
Ailerons shake pursuers. Elevators don't.
kozmon0t 2 months ago
@kozmon0t You forget that most missiles do not have roll more than 45 degrees at the very most in order to be in plane with a maneuver, and enjoy fast enough reaction time to counter the unpredictable human mind (though the maneuvering limits of an aircraft allow you to have a certain idea of what an enemy plane can do at a specific point). And as pointed out earlier: expanding rod warhead!
mobius1aic 2 months ago
@mobius1aic unless the pursuer has saddled your aircraft, it's always possible to keep your maneuvering out of plane, just keep the roll constant, and you're never in any plane more than instantaneously. Which led to the accidental invention of scissors. It's still the time-tested way to defeat a tighter-turning aircraft. That's all a missile really is, except it's flown by a kamikaze robot.
I think the best defense is a combo of staying off nose, and firing flares in the right direction.
kozmon0t 2 months ago
@kozmon0t Ulgh, you just don't plain (no pun) get it do you? Dogfight missiles pull way too many instantaneous and sustained Gs to effectively outmaneuver it. You live in anime-fantasy-video game land don't you? And scissoring won't defeat a tighter turning opponent at all, unless you happen to have a massively better thrust to weight ratio, and even still, the aircraft with better AoA and lift characteristics is much more likely to have more chances to gun his opponent or get on his tail.
mobius1aic 2 months ago
@mobius1aic blah blah insult "scissoring won't defeat a tighter turning opponent at all" blah blah blah.
everything else you said was silenced by the profound stupidity of the part in quotes. Rolling scissors are the energy fighter's trump card.
kozmon0t 2 months ago
@kozmon0t Rolling scissors are worthless against a cleanly locked and fired dogfight missile.
mobius1aic 2 months ago
@mobius1aic me: "the best defense is a combo of staying off nose, and firing flares in the right direction."
I didn't say maneuvers alone. RS-type barreling gets you off nose, and sends flares in many directions. A missile won't follow a flare forever, but if it does for even a fraction of a second, it gives you a chance to get out of its cone - as long as the flare leads it in the wrong direction. If all you do is turn, the flares are a trail of bread crumbs leading the missile to you.

If it was in a theatre of war why would the wizzo in the backseat be filming everything like its a training exercise? Let me think!!!

I think this is real dog fight, some enemies run away with flair. if it is training, who operates the crashed plane ? it is not UAV.

was that training or real war?
oclvcarbon123 1 year ago
@oclvcarbon123 this is training. The plane being shot down is probably drone F-4 Phantom.
truonghthe 1 year ago
@truonghthe It may very well be training, but that's no drone. They don't dogfight with drones. That's a MiG 29 Fulcrum, if you pause it at 2:51 you can see its outline plane as day. This was Desert Storm, when Iraq had an air force. Remember that though the planes were inferior, they still had more pilots with actual combat experience than we did.
bigbengamer 1 year ago
@bigbengamer That's an F15, probably his wingman. They train by taking turns being shooter n target.
vk45de 1 year ago
@vk45de Do they take turns firing live missiles at each other too?
bigbengamer 1 year ago
@bigbengamer Naw, they don't get to do that. They just try to get a weapons lock and say bang (fox actually). You don't get airsoft in the USAF

BazBear65 1 year ago
@BazBear65 well it was USAF you can barely see the insignia on the side of the plane but i can't tell it it was an f-4 or and f-4g it doen's have the checkered yellow and black stripes so i suppose it wasn't a Wild Weasel F-4G might just be an F-4

why do they waste a nice F-4 with a BVR missile? they could use any other RC mockup

@wackokicker The F-4 was mothballed long ago. There is nothing else to do with them but turn them into scrap metal.

the f-4 at 1:08 looks empty to me; target drone, more than likely set up by BAE. So sad. Hopefully Vipers and Eagles dont go out the same way...
