You go through the mechanics of reversing into a bay, but you don't mention the WHY, which is the most important bit. Why reverse in ancd come out forward, when the marjority do it the other way around?
@stumap Simply because its much safer. When your reversing into a bay or driveway, everyone can see you and you can see them, but when people reverse out its very hard to see with vehicles, walls or hedges each side of you.
I know a motorcyclist who spent 6 weeks in hospital after a driver reversed out of their driveway. If they had reversed onto their drive they would have seen him coming...
@jamesscampbell See if you can get a new driver to do it as quick as you do, you'd be surprised how hard it can be, even for someone who's done it a few times. Most new drivers get mixed up with which way to turn the steering causing all kinds of problems...
Pull the handbrake??? and put it on neutral? Stupid.. most safe thing you can do is to leave it in gear and then pull the handbrake.. In winter time you should never use the handbrake if its really cold outdoors.
Do you have any tips for when to start steering to turn into the bay? My instructor says my back should be midway between two lines to end up 1.5 bays down. Thing is that this depends on the positioning of my seat which varies between lessons! Do you have a neater landmark or point of reference for when to start turning? Cheers!

tbh people who can't do that by instinct shouldn't be driving anyways.

Will you lot stop it.
There isn't a 'best way' , only a best way for the individual driver.
It depends on the driver , the car , it's turning circle, mirrors etc.
The way that works for you is the best way as long as it's under control with regard for other road users.

@n00baday
And how about when you're reversing uphill in to a bay and change from 1st to reverse and take your foot off the brake to use the gas pedal.
Are you under full control in that intervening period 'Mr nobhead'

@loki1066, yeah using the handbrake on a hill is good. But this guy drove on flat surface. Using the handbrake in that situation is pointless.
