  • Mrs. Callas interpretation is outstanding but this one was divine.

  • ESTA MELODIA, SOBRE TODO LA INICIAL ME ERIZA LA PIEL

  • That is something i am growing down, when its english.

In Düsseldorf in der Rheinoper wirkt es besser. Bei mir hat es vorher schon gewirkt. Man muss das Thema wissen. Ich erzähle zu viel.

  • Hermosa pieza!

  • @anna1lily It's rather expensive to see some operas at the Metropolitan Opera House, however, there are often cheap standing tickets. Also, the Met has received a large donation from one of it's patrons that allows people to get very good seats (often orchestra), at relatively cheap prices, however, you have to get there early and wait in line. I'm also 16 and I've been to the opera more times than I can keep track of. Every production at the Met that I've been to have been simply amazing!

  • Indescribable <3

  • @anna1lily , I'm 14:) opera is my passion and I want to be an opera singer when I'm older, and I go to see operas at the royal opera house every month, you can get cheap standing tickets and restricted view tickets for 6-20 pounds, and I go by myself a lot of the time as it's cheaper and I het to see more operas, :)

  • sound made in italy

  • Amo esta escena,es una de las mas fuertes y mas hermosa, que jamas han sido interpretadas,me emociona hasta las lagrimas...

  • Oh my goodness<3

I saw this play on Saturday and Madama Butterfly was played by kristine Stewer and she was fabulous!! This opera makes me cry< / 3 but such a sad story line but a good theme!

  • Fantastic sound quality. None of that screeching you get with regular recordings when she hits the higher notes. I'm surprised youtube hasn't killed the quality either. A file's got to get corrupted when you filter it through so many media.

  • @KatherineDiana101 , I know, I'm 14 too and all my friends think I'm stupid but all I want to do is be an opera singer, its kinda funny coz I'm only 14 but I think everyone should at least listen or watch an opera , opera is just amazing

  • @Bonnie95XD

Don't worry, your friends will grow up too... you're just getting there ahead of them :-D

  • It is not necessary to understand the language (but it helps). Read the 'story' and just exercise your human right to be moved, to be emotional. Go with the flow. Transport yourself to another time, another place. Listen carefully to the music that supports what's going on on stage. There is drama there. In spite of advance in technology, humans are humans still, they hurt. I hope that can never change. To hurt is human. Embrace that( 26.2.11). Saw it AGAIN 2 days ago. Cried again.

  • 53 people have not taste.

  • does anyboday know the really sad aria in madame butterfly? is this one it? if so whats it called! I would be extremely appreciative if someone could answer! thanks.

  • @madasbal I don't know which "sad aria" you are referring to, but the aria in this video is called "Un bel di vedremo". It's near the beginning of Act 2.

  • In Düsseldorf hast du dich nicht so breit gemacht.

  • Beautiful voice... but what she´s doing something in the middle low range that sounds like she has something in her mouth. I hope she corrects it. The rest was perfect,

  • Hello People, I have this on Disc Record. a Condensed version of MADAMA BUTTERFLY(Giacomo Puccini)

  • This is one of those tunes that stay with you for life, and I just love it.

If you ever go to Japan and meet a butterfly, make sure that you bring her home, and don't leave her behind or you may also regret it.

  • @SensaiMan because her wings can flap while over there and send a tidal wave that will destroy the west coast and the entire lousiana purchase. HaHA!

  • en un viaje con hofmann ella canto solo para mi. majestuoso!!!

  • So Puccini takes the most prosaic of stories, the betrayed lover, and fashions one of the pinnacles of western civilisation and all we get is: "I love this song".

  • @chollocks what more is there to be said?

  • THIS IS GOOD BUT. . .

  • @JohnnyHam2003 but what?

  • i love this song. :]

  • juste unique, même si Netrebsko s' en approche un peu...

  • This makes me cry. It is so touching.

  • lo mejor de lo mejor de la opera.!!! sin duda...

  • I agree!

  • I have to admit that i only started listening to Puccini because it was on Doctor Who The TV Movie. I'm so glad that i was bought to watch this now. It's so sublime and beautiful. Now, i'm no opera buff, but it sounds mournful yet light and beautiful! Tis amazing xx

  • So beautiful!

  • everytime i see this it makes me cry :')

  • Fui ao céu! lindo!

  • poignantly beautiful music puccinni was a master at emotional blackmail

  • this is one of the saddest operas i have ever seen..i saw it in pittsburgh like 8 or 9 years ago. it was beautiful!

  • We saw the same production at Torre de Lago whilst on holiday in Tuscanny on 1st August 2010. Wonderful music. I would be interested to learn about the thinking behind the minamalist set and the giant 'm'....

  • No puedo esperar para que sea Viernes y ver esta Ópera en el Teatro Avenida. Es increíble cuánto me emociona. Un arte magnífico, sublime, incomparable.

  • This is my most favorite scene. There is so much emotion just in this one act alone. Every time I hear it, I get the chills and feel like my heart is going to cave in. I just begin to cry. Such a beautiful opera.

  • stunning! such a beautiful voice

  • I wish I could sing like that...I'm going to go try =] I hope I don't end up mute.

  • Bellisimo. Simplemente hermoso. gracias...

  • So lovely; so sad.

  • i dont know to much, its the sound in my head....its like nearly but not there... i dont understand, but its beatifull, a love lost, and then there...

  • Meravigliosa. Assolutamente imperdibile

l'altro video Luciano Pavarotti- Carla Maria Izzo.

    Stupenda !

  • Beautiful music! I am posting this entire opera performed by a talented non-profit community group based in the Harrisburg, PA area on my channel.

  • Absolutamente Maravilhosa!!!!!!!!

  • MAGNIFICA

  • Amazing. For madama butterfly and la travietta, whit only 15 years old that I am and maybe I life in a place where there isn't love for the opera... I'm trying to enter in the conservatory of music. Simplity... I can't understand that there're people who can't love it... This is like the mirrow of the feelings. I'm in love with her.... :)

  • Fifteen years? I guess that at twenty you'll find people that love Puccini, and by then you might find him vulgar. His melody is continuous and well crafted, but other than that he isn't much of a genius. He is usually prasied by diletantes but barely praised by connoisseurs.

  • Would you rather go fuck yourself in English.

    o preferisci andare affanculo ?

    o a tomà pol culo ?

  • Non, but why are you so angry? Or is it that you talk like a retarded analphabet all the time? I'm just expressing a very common opinion. I don't believe it's the first time you've heard it, unless you're new to music. But it won't be the last time you'll here someone talking negatively of Puccini. Unless you hang only with musically ill people. Ever heard Mascagni?

  • @omgtkseth

never heard of a 21 yo from Guanajuato being an Opera connoisseur !

A Chihuahua writing "diletante" ( was it French or English ? )

Or writing "fairle" pretending it is French !

Or asserting that Wagner and Mozart SUCK !

You might be 21 but you surly are a little petulant , snob, pretentious " merde"

    Connoisseur my arse !

  • fair and le arent separated? Thanks for letting me know. Mm, maybe I'm being a bit hard on mozart. Suck isn't a musical quality, you shouldnt take it too seriously. Talking about Mozart, I get the feeling he was like a redneck trucker with a 180 iq. Wagner doesnt know carp about musicalization, puccini was better at this. Wagner only knows win, lose and tie, music suitable for war, and monotheism. I'm 19, actually, and its insulting you imply that I'm mexican. I only live here.

  • Anyway, you dont seem to be a very artistic nor reasonable man. Puccini is too 'pop'. If you head towards a video of say, Schoenberg, you'll see that many people post comments, not only like "beautiful!, great!, fantastic!", but also perspectives on interpretation, execution and composition. I mean that I wasnt trying to be mean, and you shouldnt go mad. Puccini is far from being the best, and if you cant deal with that, you've got to take pills cuz you're overreacting.

  • i disagree omgtkseth. Sir Thomas Beecham felt that La Boheme was a perfect opera and many other 'connoisseurs' rate Puccini. His focus on relationships and his emotionality in his work make him accessible and popular with the public at large. As for genius, who knows? Who cares? Puccini is a master beloved by millions

  • the beatles, beloved for hundreds of millions, accesible and popular for their common relationships, like 'i want to hold your hand', considered perfect by a extremely large public. Does that mean they are right? Does it mean that the beatles are better than puccini? just because of a pop fan base? No, I believe that Mendelssohn was way more talented than Mozart, because of his emotionality. mozart was a vulgar aristocrat. but hey, he was more popular, right? just like jay z and madonna...

  • I'm not sure what you mean about being "right" I don't think we can look at music in terms of right and wrong. Just because a piece of music is technically more sophisticated, doesn't make it "better" than a simpler piece of music which may have other qualities and vice versa. I also don't understand your need to create hierarchies through comparing music and musicians. Why does any one composer need to be "the best" or "better than"?

  • When I said right I mean better. And why do I compare them and search for a 'higher' quality? Its an answer that isnt quite justified.Theres not an impeccable and unequivocal reason to do that. Just as there isnt an impeccable and unequivocal reason to live. But we still do The love for a higher music is like the love for a higher life, and we will not diss it just because there isnt a transcendental purpose or a necessary precedence.

  • @omgtkseth you have a point.

  • Ingrid Silveus was absolutely beautiful in this performance. I wonder why she isn't better known?

  • piekne

  • It was her son. Pincerton was his father. Butterfly was waiting for Pincerton 3 years and son was born, when Pincerton was in USA.

  • wonderful music!!!!!

  • story of my life

  • @mrsbarrybadass12 how do you understand whats going on?

  • @mrsbarrybadass12 awww :(

  • I saw it in Oct. and it was great.

  • i went to madame butterfly today but the ending i didnt understand.

here, a guy killed himself too with butterfly.

i though her sun, but then a nother years later but im not shure..

    i really want to know.

  • im curious because i've seen the show and no man dies in the play. Either you misinterpreted something or idk..

  • thanks anyway but now i know, asked the makers of the show and they told me it was the son of butterfly, but than a couple years later.

  • maybe it was supposed to represent her father?

  • know i alreally know, i askes it and it was her son but then in the future.

    thanks anyway

  • at the end ?

well that's the producer after recounting the entrances

(sorry I coudln't help this cheap joke)

  • does anyone notice how 3:00 onwards, the orchestration sounds a lot like 'This isThe Hour' from Miss Saigon! x The musical was focourse based on this opera.

  • I just noted that in a review I did.

  • So beautiful,

    so gracious and moving.

    sbsolutely love it.

  • Excellent! thank you!

    Beautiful aria.

  • Can anyone tell me please what is the name of this aria? TY

  • Un bel di vedremo.....

  • lol

  • I just saw this in the Civic Theatre, with Patricia Rucette as Madama Butterfly, and I have never seen anything more beautiful. I usually don't cry... at all. And I was a blubbering baby. Not very loud, but stuill, you get my point. I was so moved by her performance. Having a front row seat made it so much easier to see the emotions on their faces. God, I want to see it again. Absolutely beautiful. And I swear, nobody, NOBODY should compare this art to Twilight dammit!

  • I just went to the San Diego Civic Theatre and saw it. Everything was great, specially the lady that played Madama Butterfly, but actually everything; lights, scenery, orquestra, was perfect.

  • :) :) :)

  • @screamingoutloud4you THIS was compared to TWILIGHT? Oh dear god, what has this world come to!?

  • @rellenoz Yeah, right...now go clean your room.

  • @rellenoz Yeah, sure.

Just keep saying stupid things, it's free.

  • @SnowWhiteQueen29 when was that?

  • @SBRJulia I have no clue, honestly. No clue whatsoever. I posted that comment 9 months ago. I barely remember stuff that happened yesterday. Lol

  • @SnowWhiteQueen29 Wait.... What?! Who the hell did THAT?!!! I want a name so I can kill him/her! WTF come on! D:

  • @love4nana707 God dangit it people. Quit asking me who said that. I don't even remember posting this comment. Nor do I even remember watching this video. LOL

  • @SnowWhiteQueen29 it has been sucked up and spewed out of a vampires flame hole..
