Hah. first thing he said was that he was a software engineer. I am in something called informatics (applying software engineering to benefit real world practices) and basically half of my course load, through college and post-grad, was software engineering.
I understood the movie from the get go (although I watched it a couple more times and researched some of it, to get a much better understanding) and I must say i wish more movies stimulated people to acquire knowledge more like this film.
unbelievable, i'm blown away, he should make more. or i hope, if he doesn't, someone else is now inspired to make more stuff like he did, low budget- enormous quality. fucking great
I had to watch this movie more than once before I "got" it, and the second time I watched it, I had to rewind a few parts so that I could wrap my head around it. The only criticism I have for it is that it seems as if some important exposition was left out. Given that the entire movie was pretty much all exposition, I can see why the decision was made.
However, I loved it. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. THANK YOU, Shane, for making it.
Sorry dude, but the movie bussiness is hard. He's been trying to make a second film for quite some time now, but people won't give him the money he deserves :(
Warning, do not watch this movie (Primer). You will not be able to get it out of your mind. You will become obsessed, watching it over and over, trying to figure it out.
Seriously, though, this film is very well done. There is so much information and it happens so quickly, you will watch it again to try to understand it. A very interesting concept and very interesting moral/ethical considerations.
Agreed...I watched it again this afternoon, after not seeing it for a while...and I saw something I'd missed...even though I've seen it a few times...
IF "The Topiary" DOESN'T COME OUT SOON I WILL DIE.

Fantastic. This is the best movie I have seen in years. Oddly enough their machine reminds me of my anti gravity prototype. lol

I love this movie, but why hasn't Carruth made a movie since 2004? He could be up there with Spielburg and Nolan if he had just kept making movies.

I did laugh at one point in the movie--when Aaron says, "I haven't eaten since later this afternoon!"

Is it true he made Primer for $7,000 ?!?!?!
LarryCage 3 years ago 6
Yes! And it beats hands-down the majority of movies made for $70 million. Why? Because Shane Carruth stuck to telling a good story well :D
mrkeogh 2 years ago 8
@LarryCage sure is! The crew for the film was only 5 or 6 people (not including actors)
