  • NOW YOUR PLAYING WITH FIRE! lol j/k

  • ITS THE PROTOTYPE

  • The gameplay this commercial is actually the beta version. LOL

  • "...it's every you've dreamed of!"

    Spoilers in the commercials?

    Assholes.

  • Question mark exclamation point question mark exclamation point question mark exclamation point question mark exclamation point...

  • "It's everything you've dreamed of..." I never dreamed of Doki Doki Panic. I dreamed of a real sequel to the awesome original Mario game, and all I got was this. Thumbs up if the best part of "MaryO" 2 is the slot machine.

  • Super Merry-O 2!

  • I think Super Mario Bros. 2 is the perfect predecessor to the original.

  • The Real Mario 2 was the Lost Levels, right?

  • @TheWolfBunny2 Yeah, but extremely hard and no improvements to graphics and control.

  • @andrewstartrekmario Was there a Commercial for this?

  • @TheWolfBunny2 Not that I know of, as it was released in Japan only.

  • @andrewstartrekmario Subscribe me!

  • Merry-O?

  • @Daemonocracy

Yes we 80s kids thought it was the original SMB 2 but later when you do research on the net or Nintendo Power it spoils it but it still kicks ass despite it's Doki Doki Panic all dolled up but SMB 3 returned to the original formula. Heck even Zelda 2 and Resident Evil 5 were different black sheeps in their series but it worked, let's never forget Super Mario Land for Gameboy and it was also different yet felt more like the original SM game

  • @imasaltyman45

I thought so too when i was 7 getting this game for christmas back in 88 thinking it was a fresh blast but didn't know it was Doki Doki Panic in disguise when i was doing research on the internet and i did played SM All Stars with the Lost Levels thinking it would be a director's cut to the original SM game but it turned out to be the real SMB 2.

  • @sserpent21

Did you too get this for christmas as a kid for your NES? SMB 3 is a true masterpiece indeed and each installment got better and better even with SM World.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Sure did. I like 3 a little more then World, but it's all good.

  • people that talk bad about others are jealous its so obvious and makes them look like the eptime of pathetic i hope there are other new gamers better than me so they can show me something in a game i might have missed out on

  • thats funny how this generation of kids make this nerd dictionary stating oh hes a noob same with on ps3 for all those that DO say that look at yourself i bet most those kids werent even born when nes came out so ya its funny how they mock others when they werent even in diapers when i was playing atari 2600 colecovision and nes back in the days the noob or new player that dont know shit have no respect is them

  • Spoiler: It's everything you've dreamed of.

  • Everything we've dreamed of? Wow, if your dreams are about THAT, you're stupid! I love this game, I'm just saying!

  • @tdepinto What? Doesn't everybody dream in 8-bit?

  • My name is Mario and i hate when people call me "Mary-o"

  • MORE POWER THAN YOUR CALCULATOR CAN HANDLE. >D

  • god do i miss the late 80s and 90s

  • when i heard about this i was nervous playing it because i havnt played the first mario game

  • @ValisHD

Did you played the first game first then played this? this was a fresh and unique "sequel" don't you think but did you know it was Doki Doki Panic originally while the real SMB 2 was in Japan but a more difficult version?

  • @Johnlindsey289 yes i did

  • A great game and departure from the norm, but SMB3 will always be the BEST!!

  • @rang3r34

Did you know that it wasn't the original SMB2? the original came out in 86 as it was more like the first game but difficult, in September 88 we got a Mario enhanced version of Doki Doki Panic and some of the characters from that game became Mario mainstays like Shy-Guys, Birdo and Bob-ombs. It was a fresh and different experience when compared to the first even with Super Mario Land but SMB 3 is the best of the 8-bit games i agree and everyone does.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yeah, I heard that too. Wasn't it included in Super Mario All-Stars? I played it and it was difficult along with the poison mushrooms. Lost Levels is what it was called, I think?

  • @rang3r34

Yes it's known as the lost levels But you gotta admit SMB 2 was a fresh and unique entry that made it different, hell even Zelda 2 and Resident Evil 4 are radical yet awesome departures from their game series's formulas but they worked.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yes, that is true. I found Zelda 2 hard as hell, but REALLY enjoyed RE4!!

  • @rang3r34

Wait wait, RE 5 is the true black sheep of the series but it was a good black sheep and you can finally destroy Wesker

  • The black sheep of the 8-bit Mario games but excellent game, i remember 23 years ago i got this for Christmas when i got my NES for my birthday that year with Mario/Duck Hunt plus Zelda and this game blew my mind as it was an addictive experience. However, SMB 3 remains the best of the 8-bit Mario games.

  • how did he grow @ 0:12 ?

  • @LuigiDM prototype of the game

  • @LuigiDM that easy when your in the sub space he must have grabbed the mushroom seconds after he transitioned out of subspace while the grow animation was still intact.....slight glitch!

  • SUPER MERRY-OH IS BACK........

  • i dont care the history of this game. to me, this IS the REAL mario 2. cuz mario bros. the lost levels felt like nothing more than a remake of mario 1 on super steroid difficulty. (and yeah i've played the famicom japanese mario 2, not the lost levels on the snes) This game was at least a different game. maybe it was a radical departure from the first game, but what about zelda 2? that game was nothing like the first and still a good game. i love you Super Mario Bros. 2.

  • Super MARE ee oh?!?! WTF son? :|

  • omg super marry-o is this a new game i haven't heard of before??

  • So go buy Doki Doki-

    I mean... uh...

    Mario 2!

  • So this is the reason why I pronounce "Mario" differently than the rest of the world, thanks to the narrator in this old commercial, anyone else notice the short 'a' sound?

  • Sounds like the narrator from the original pokemon anime .-. ........I can't believe I noticed that....

  • Really? They couldn't pay to have the voice guy give it just one more take without saying "Mary-Oh?"

  • "IT'S SUPER MARY-O 2!"

  • In this game's defense Doki Doki Panic, the original game it was based on was built by a Nintendo team that included Shigeru Miyamoto.Miyamoto is in fact credited for most of the enemy designs and actually being more involved with Doki Doki Panic's production than with the original SMB2.

Fuji TV actually only created the player concepts, they commissioned Nintendo to do all the other work.

  • Comment removed

  • @ 0:14 they are cheating !! and fatter before XD

  • Oh, to be young and happy again.

  • I like how older people think "Super" is part of his name.

  • Maerio? Fatter? nintendo god 1st say his name right and dont say Fatter!

  • great

  • Super Merrioh is back!

  • MARYO? what the heck nintendo...what the heck..

  • Super merio 2? Don't they mean Super Mario 2?

  • Now you're playing with transvestites.

Now you're playing with NOT DOKI DOKI PANIC.

    Now you're playing with turnups.

  • @TheONESlash i agree with you that´s why luigi from super mario world cartoons is called mamma luigi

mama from doki doki panic was replaced with luigi

why they not sold super mario the lost levels for america? i don´t see so hardest

  • @erickcartman1994 either re sell the same game, as 2, but harder (:P) or this really original mario? OBVIOUS CHOICE IS OBVIOUS.

  • @TheONESlash OK lost levels is hard. in the snes ( i had all stars cartdrige) i came to world 3 and i entered to a pipe and ......guess....... the fucking pipe took me to world 1!!! and i got angry and that was the last time when i played lost levels

  • screw this, i want my lost levels, dammit

  • This was featured in the first issue of Nintendo Power.

  • I'm probably one of the very few who prefers Super Mario 2 above every other Mario game.

  • 0:11

hmm, the health meter malfunctioned.... see that?

  • .....looks like it actually stays that way throughout the entire commercial....

    debug mode?

  • it says maro not mario

  • I loved this game! Very different from anything ever in Mario, even today. Would love to see it remade (again). Have to pick up Super Mario All Stars for my SNES again. It was trippy and psychedelic, they were definitely on something strong back then to make up a story like this.

  • 0:17 - Unless you live in Japan.

  • lol Marry-o

  • @TheShadowEdge LOL i was thinking the same thing!!

  • Super Mario 2! Buy it now!

Me: Can I get Super Mario 2?

Guy who works at store: Sorry, there isn't a game like that. But we do have Super Mario Bros. 2.

Me: That Bitch lied to me...

  • Everything I've dreamed of, yeah. In NIGHTMARES!

  • They had a sequel to Super Mario Bros. that was identical to the first one, but the original SMB 2 game the game developers though was too tough for American gamers. So instead of releasing the original SMB 2 to America they created this game, which was just Doki Doki panic but with Mario characters. The original SMB 2 hadn't been released in the US till they came out with Super Mario All Stars and the original SMB was referred to as SMB The Lost Levels.

  • He's going places only Doki Doki Panic went with the exact same graphics and bad guys!

  • oh look, its a doki doki panic commercial!

  • Comment removed

  • super merio......... hhaaaaahaaaaaa

  • I really like this game! Why everyone hate it?

  • Sup(ervis)or mare Io (Greek God).

  • actually i have played a game like this......doki doki panic

  • @625georgebye dude mario 2 is doki doki panic with mario slapped on it

  • @McMastersify Yeah and Tetris Attack is Panel de Pon with Yoshi and Tetris slapped on it too. Either way they're still Nintendo games. One interesting fact, some of the enemies in Doki Doki Panic also appeared in the later Mario games so Doki Doki Panic is indeed a Mario related game and Mario also makes cameo in that game too. In regards to Tetris Attack though, the enemies and characters in Panel de Pon had never appeared in any Mario or Yoshi games, not even Super Smash Bros.

  • it's soup or mary-o

  • 0:14 bigger and BADDER

  • So it's not the real Super Mario 2 but I like it anyway. I wish people stop saying bad things about it.

  • I dare say, SMB2 is hands down the best game on the NES, followed by Journey to Sillius and Bubble Bobble 2. To bad most top 5 lists include the generic Mario/Metroid/Zelda/Megaman/Castlevania roster.

  • super marry yo?

  • who the fuck maryo

  • lol I actually remember getting ready for school one morning and saw this commercial for the first time as I was putting my shoes on. I was so stoked that I talked about it all day!

  • So really Doki Doki Panic is a rushed, shittier, version of Super Mario Bros 2 USA with swapped characters. Everyone seems to think it is the other way around, because Doki Doki Panic did come out first, but it was always intended to be a Mario game. Doki Doki Panic is made by Shigeru Miyamoto

  • This game was ALWAYS intended to be a Mario game from the start. That's the misconception most people have. It was going to be a 2 player game too. They needed to rush out a game in Japan for their 1987 show, and brought out the game at Doki Doki Panic. This is why Doki Doki Panic has the mario jumping sound, and POW blocks. Also Doki Doki Panic is far more unpolished than Super Mario Bros 2 USA. The only difference is I don't think they originally intended the real SMB2 not to come to USA

  • you've never had an adventure like this! unless you have played dokkie dokiie panic.

  • Imagine everything I''ve EVER dreamed of?

    And WORLDS MORE.....?

wow, this game is better then sex, the internet and chuck norris combined.

  • @kdreamland IDK

did you ever have sex with chuck norris while surfing the interenet ?

if not ask daniel tosh he will tell whats it like

ps tosh was the power bottom

    LOL

  • MERRYOH

  • i used to hate beating this game when i was little on my grandmas snes because of that creepy frog at the final boss area

  • Now this is oooooooold school. \m/ One of my all time favorite Mario games. :-D Man, this brings back some great memories. ;-)

  • MERRYO!

  • "It's everything you've DREAMED of and worlds more!"

That statement couldn't have been closer to the truth. :|

  • Nothing annoys me more than someone pronouncing Mario's name as "Merry-o"

  • 0:10 How was that glitch not noticable?

  • Personally, I prefer Japan's Mario 2. However, I think this is an enjoyable game. I hear people really bash this game and I do agree that this game has it's share of differences and isn't as good for a few reasons. It's different but so what, There's nothing wrong with doing something different for Mario. I don't really care that this is just Doki Doki Panic changed to Mario 2 in the U.S. It's a good game and enjoying it is all that matters.

  • @dkong1994

Not to mention that many of its enemies have now become a staple of the Mario universe, like the Shy Guy and Bobomb.

  • @dunnono00 Yes, That's something I failed to mention. I doubt the Mario 2 haters even realize that. I remember the Shy Guys popped up in Yoshi's Island and I think they were in Mario 64. I can't say for sure because I haven't played Mario 64 in years. I do remember the Bobomb was in the Fire level and the very first level.

  • @dkong1994

Bob-omb already appeared in SMB3. This shows that it didn't take long at all for Nintendo as a whole (as opposed to Nintendo of America) to also recognize SMB2 as an official Mario game. They even made an 8-bit Japanese version of it later called Super Mario USA for the Famicom.

Anyway, this is my favorite Mario game. I loved the change after being stuck with SMB1 for several months & having gotten tired of it. I wish they would have made more Mario games like it.

  • "SUPER MARY-O!"

  • I'll wait until the next update patch to buy it.

  • Time for us to Doki Doki Panic!!!

  • merio? i never heard of tht game

  • 0:10 Pops up hacks wherever he goes!

  • Mario was dreaming about some other game lol.

  • This was my favorite game back in the day

  • Now ur playing with power! the power of 6502.....

  • "SO HE'S BIGGER AND FATTER THAN HE EVER WAS BEFORE!"

Well that's not very nice to say.

  • @arod2211 Didn't he say "bigger and badder"?

  • @nonh1 shhhhhhhhhhhhh....

  • This is actually doki doki panic....the real super mario bros. 2 was the lost levels, but that wasn't released in the U.S.

  • I love old commercials

  • this game was never released in germany because its to "hard" ...

  • the reason we never seen creatures like these its cause they copied another game

  • doki doki mario

  • As a kid it always annoyed me when people called it "Super Mary Oh".

  • @TheMariofan1200 i know it just sounds like cock-suck power

  • this is not the real one thats doki doki panic the real one was in japan for the famicom disk system nintendo did not made super mario bros 2 (the lost levels) (J) outside of japan nerds

  • ...aka Doki Doki Panic.

    *shrugs*

    Can't win them all.

  • Super Maryo 2

  • "Now your'e playing with power" in rhythm with the beat at the end

  • he said mario wrong!

  • 0:09 cocksuck power

  • What a disappointing game

  • Boss

  • "Everything you'ved dreamed of, and much more" How ironic! -,-

  • BOMB!

  • I hated this game back in the day. Right up there with Mario is Missing.

  • @earthboundfreak64 I was just about to say that, but you beat me to the punch

  • White people fucking ruined it. the japanese one made you feel like you were in a whole another world

  • @crushedf8 actually its the other way around

  • nintendo ripped off some game called doki doki panic and turned it into this

  • @crushedf8 Doki Doki Panic was MADE by Nintendo.. How can they rip themselves off?

  • @wildsmiley very carefully

  • @wildsmiley doki doki was not made by nintendo however nintendo didnt rip the game off all sides cames to a deal so its all good

  • I love how cheesy the video game commercials were back then

  • Oh shit! Mario 2 is out now?

  • @joestrange

its been out for a long time

  • @themarioandzelda Well I gotta go pick that up! You think K-Mart has it? or do I gotta go to toys r us ?

  • Comment removed

  • @cartoonyish What? It was out in the US. I own a copy.

  • @IxionForte Sorry I meant you've never played this until Panic not Mario 2. (Doki Doki Panic) Sorry about that.

  • @IxionForte Sorry I meant you've never played this until Mario 2. (Doki Doki Panic) Sorry about that.

  • @IxionForte I meant we hadn't played anything like this until Mario 2.

     Really sorry about that.

  • We've never played anything like this. . . because Doki Doki Panic wasn't released in America! Damn you Nintendo, Damn you!

  • Its everything you tried to get away from!

  • Shame this game sucked.

  • ''It's everything you've dreamed of...!''

We had it in our face in the very beggining...

  • Super Mary-O brothers?

  • did he just say Super Mehrio 2?

  • Mario never had an adventure like that, mother fucker was just dreaming.

  • @argo984 Shit, that's right!

  • @argo984 or he was high

  • @danham1856 no, it really was a dream

  • @argo984 that's you fool only, this is an old nintendo game.

  • omg these commercials seem to corny now.

  • I was so mad when we got this instead of Japanese SMB2. This was still a good game mind you.

  • Proton Jon says Mario the same way!

  • ....merio

  • Why does he pronounce Mario like "marry-O"?

  • It sounds like he is saying hes bigger and fatter than ever before at 11:00

  • thi sgame is the mario version of doki doki panic. LAZY NINTENDO!

  • @snappleboy16 There are quite a few differences, like characters, power-ups, etc. Also, they replaced Mario 2 from Japan with our Mario 2 because Nintendo knew idiots like you would whine about how hard it was (although both Mario 2s are quite a challenge for kids).

  • @pockuinator Did I ever whine about how hard it is? No, I did not.

  • @pockuinator And btw, I was joking.

  • @pockuinator And I know about SMB 2 in Japan a.k.a. Lost Levels. Lawl

  • @snappleboy16 Yet you don't know how to put moar than two sentences in a comment.

  • @pockuinator By the way, on my first comment, I wasn't whining, I was joking. Also, in your comment, you put only two sentences. I do know how to put "moar" (It's MORE, dumbass) than two sentences in a comment. I didn't even say that SMB 2 was hard. It is, but I wasn't whining. Explain to me when I whined. Idiot.

  • @snappleboy16 "Moar" is the internet spelling of "more". What I meant by more than two sentences was that you made three comments at the same time that could have been combined into one. You yourself never whined, I was "maek"-ing an assumption based on your comment that you would be the type of person to whine. Or complain. I suppose the main difference is the tone of voice (/watch?v=csPPqdbcVwM), but since you put LAZY NINTENDO in all caps I inferred your tone of voice.

  • @pockuinator Yes, I know Moar is teh internetz version of more, and I'm sorry lol. I was being a Grammar Nazi (which I am barely) to make myself seem smarter. Let's stop this argument. When I typed LAZY NINTENDO isn all caps, It wasn't meant to be that "loud". I am going to subscribe to you. :)
