@K1ngSh0t Skill of the player, and knowledge of class ability's. Some people pick up on a class easier than others. Kind of like in a fighting game, there is always 1 or 2 characters that you play really well, but you cant really control the other 28 so well.
@K1ngSh0t It's all about skill. :) Like let's say you play an engineer. You can be one of those people who run into battle with a rifle, and shoot, and die. Or, you can be one of those people who place down turrets, and mines, and find a strategic point. If you know how to play your class, you'll be fine.
there are different modes, but different modes essentially belong to the same dungeon. Alas, dunno about the details. Really curious about that and want to see it when it comes out.
@90Rush It might belong to the same dungeon but say for example you might have taken the path through the dungeon that lead to a cave or you might take another path that can lead to an underground sewer, plus these can lead to new DE's and possible new bosses aswell, GW2 dungeons are just not like the repetivite dungeons like in other game, their paths are always changing. they wont just make the enviroment look the same with each and every path or it would be boring.
@Denu85 sure a guardian can dps, but it would be a wasted team member slot. guardians are better in support. certain roles are pretty necessary. dont forget how long it took to find random instances in wow if you were playing dps. everyone plays dps.
You forgot to mention that Story mode gives a token for a unique dungeon weapon, and explorer mode gives tokens for a piece of armour from the unique dungeon set.
@pakuattack No, it's because he doesn't say it, and you're just using that as an excuse, because NO WHERE in the video does he talk about what tokens are given through each mode.
@pakuattack Do you have shit in your ears? He doesn't say anything about explorer mode giving armour tokens and story mode giving weapon tokens. All he says is that dungeons will give tokens for its specific dungeon set.
Does Guild Wars 2 have a que system ingame for dungeons? StarWars ToR is now seeing the loss of over 1/2 there customer base because of no Flashpoint Que system. They listened to there hard core beta tester and didn't put one in but that was a mistake as your main customer base is the long term casual player. These are the players with money and will pay your online store and expansions. People that log in for an hour to play don't want to sit around for 4 hours looking to make a group.
'32 dungeons' is a fanboist view on it, imo. If the first dungeon run is story mode, and the rest are exploring mode, that's still just one dungeon. I think people think too much of these different 'modes'. In the end, its the same setting, roughly the same bosses, and eventually the same experience. For all we know, it could be like with the tiny difference between doing Bronzebeard's quests in HoS or simply ignoring him.
@EdwardElric555 They all play out very differently and some classes are still better at certain things than others. The trinity system is just replaced with damage, control and support.
It wont be new to everyone =/ are you people forgetting there is a GW1
I played it and i know how it all works, hell i tanked on my earth elemental on the last prophicies boss The Lich, i even healed at the same time lol.
(something unique about that game is that u could only choose 8 skills to use out of literally thousands so if you made an ingenious spec you could not only be a credit to your group you coulda be immensly more powerful than all of them)
lol so this will be a bunch of noobs running arond and getting killed;) aint it the point to be in a guild so you dont have to wait forever on tank/healer? and can you jump?
@ville10000 when you are a casual noob and never played a game before that can happen, if you have atleast played 1 or 2 other games you should be able to survive easily.
but if you just standing around taking dmg, you die easy ofc. but if you have atleast a bit of skill you can dodge and move while attacking. but if you need to watch the keyboard so that you know what buttons you press ... then you can die ...
@TheTigerYumYums Forever? Huh? Takes around 5-8 min now, including joining raid. People are watching this vids in order to get some information to put their money on to which game to play. Dont manipulate them with your false facts.
@shieldcrit Fair enough, but you also can't say that a game that's 8 years old is better than a game that's breaking numerous boundaries in one genre.
@TheTigerYumYums You say that like it's a bad thing. There are going to be people who WANT to tank things, and they are going to need to be healed by people who WANT to heal. Same thing applies to Dps. There's always going to be a Holy Trinity whether you want it or not. There's also always going to be min-maxing, and a set of gear that is better than the rest for any situation. And as for the queue's, I play mostly in between 9pm-6am, and I've never had a queue longer than 10m.
@coolhunter3 No sir. There is control (keeping aggro) damage and support. There is no skill in the game that targets another player and heals them. However a skill might have an AOE heal, like the Engineers' healing turret. Everyone has a self heal and a possibly skill that could heal someone if they are in the area, but no dedicated friendly heal.
@coolhunter3 You cant target heal anyone. Every class can heal themselves and some can give very light heals to others in an aoe but its impossible to be a designated healer.
@ville10000 the point of the guild is to have people that share your goals. Every class in GW2 will be able to do both tanking, healing and damage dealing. The thing is that tanking has a new name - Control.
@naskoBG26 As I understand it, control is different from tanking. You don't just stand there and let the mobs hit you, you use your abilities to keep them from attacking, by keeping them in place, ward them off, or confuse them etc.
You reasonsin around the dungeon rewards is somewhat flawed, as rewarding people for playing together and completing tasks they can't do individually is hard to call negative in an MMO, in fact such things build community as players do need to band together, and play together to complete these tasks.
actually its pretty much the whole video... then can't I flag the video since its not notated?... >:3 I wish I didnt have to do this but I like Raconteurs more than you silly youtube video :P
............... just noticed the Raconteurs aren't properly notated in the description........ Everyone who respects good music shouls know that the song at the beginning is by the Raconteurs and is called "You Don't Understand Me"
@Forcedmetomakethis there is no point of playing games itself ..actually. ..other then having fun. now fun means for everyone something else .. so, if you dont enjoying dungeons there is no point to go in. if you like dungeons you will found tons of fun in there . :-D
There is! You can choose. Take an armor from a dungeon or spend time in getting another armor by crafting or doing something else. but they look different. additional you get other loot. Money, this token-things, charma, craftingmaterial... ect. There ARE rewards!
But here is something wrong. There are Dungeons with more than just 3 exploribal modes! I have about 8 in my mind. It was said months ago. Its this special dungeon that has 3 different ways. Others have more or maybe less.
I wouldn't really go so far as to say GW2 will have 32 dungeons. No, there will be 8. What makes it unique is, let's say you did Stockades in WoW, then you've seen stocks and know what to expect. But if you do a dungeon in GW2, then you haven't seen all it has to offer. The reason ANet did this was to bring their DE re-playability philosophy to dungeons. You don't need to grind them over and over to get that one item you want. You can choose to do a dungeon and then choose what item you want.
i kind of think the 32 experiences is a little rich, reminds me a bit like Maraudon in wow same dungeon but with different paths (orange and purple if i remember, happy times)
@DisturbedKoala Eight times four does equal 32... But that's 32 different "experiences". We also don't know how different the story mode will be from any of the exploration modes, or how much off the beaten path any of them will be.
I'm abusing semantics, I know, but 32 "experiences" across 8 dungeons is still 8 dungeons.
@OctavioRedding Well I think about it this way from what I read on the ArenaNet blog on the subject. Every dungeon has different paths (some hidden) and each of these paths are literally a new place from what you've seen before which also has new foes. And as the story mode may have certain preset monsters to face, Explorable mode does not. As players have many options as to what they face & events happen in dungeons just as they do outside of them. So I believe this is a matter of perspective.
@thelordhamza1 From what I have learnt, dynamic events are basically quests that appear to be incident events that you will meet when you're running around throughout the maps. Unlike other mmorpg where there are npc with ? above their heads - u clicked - they say to kill # of wolves - u go kill them - come back to npcs and get rewards. Guild Wars 2 has no such things as ?. For dungeons, it probably unlocks something as part of the game - skills, storyline, gears, etc. and fun!!
I think it's a bit inaccurate to say there are no tanks. The adventurer, scholar and soldier classes do sort of line up with DPS, healer and tank respectively. Sure, each class can cover the "holy trinity" roles, but the classes lean towards one of the three roles.
not really, a warrior for instance, sounds like a tanky class, its a soldier, high armour and so on however you can just as easily go buffer/ranged dps if you want to.
on the point of tanks, while there are classes who will obviously be able to take more of a beating(guardians versus mesmers for instance) with in dungeons because there is no aggro mechanic there isn't really anyway to actually tank other than everone else standing back and letting you get pummelled.
@ourorboros2 yh i think arenanet said the player nearest the enemy gets the aggro, this is why most of the melee professions have higher armor gear then those that would normaly be at range when fighting since they will be close up most of the time.
but since every class can fight at range and melee every character can help out by taking aggro off of others.
I love GW2 and i'm OBVIOUSLY gonna play it, but I dont support the dungeons idea... I know its a pain in the ass to be seeking for a healer, but thats the point in the game, team work.
@DidIWakeYouMF The whole point is that each profession is not regulated to a specific class, each profession can damage, support, or control. This is where weapons come in, each weapon would have a specific build and each time you switch you switch a role, that means you can still be a tank if you want, some DPS or something new, like a controller. It keeps players on their toes and forces teamwork in dungeons by being creative, not regulated.
Why would you like it that the gear from dungeons isn't better? If it's harder then it should be better. Don't become one of the casual whiners from WoW who want the same gear as top raiders.
Watch that video and you will see why GW2 will fail and why it is copying World of Warcraft! GW2 is another fail game trying to copy WoW and I am exposing them! I challenge you GW2 supporters to refute my arguments and standpoint in that vid, but you can't! you know why? Because I am bringing facts and show sources and you guys are brainwashed zombie robots worshipping GW2! hahaha! you can't face the truth huh!?
I wonder if parties that are in another instance of the same dungeon can participate in the same Dynamic Event with the party that started the event. I think that'd be a fun mechanic.
Don't like being in a Queue for WoW? Go raid. Don't like raiding, go PvP. Not geared enough for PvP, getting owned still gives you credit to buy better gear. Don't want to waste your time? PLAY HELLO KITTY ADVENTURES.
@Torul yes there are... there are only 20 levels in the original GW trilogy but due to the almost complete reinvention of the nature of the game ArenaNet decided that 80 levels was a more logical cap
In game its going to be 12 dungeons, each of them will have 1 story mode and others 2 or 3 explorable modes, in story mode u will have cinematic how this dungeon apear the story of dungeon, after completing story u unlock explorable mode, in each explorable mode u wont have the same path as before its going to be different, for example different mobs, different places, different bosses, so my opinion its like in 1 dungeon 3 or 4 other dungeons, bc u will experience everything different :)
Its not 12 dungeons.. sigh.. it if 3 of them, then its the same.. place you go to every time.. no matter what your doing different.. its the SAME Place.. same enemies.. my god.
@RayRai8262 the mistake he made was that there aren't 3 explorable modes there is only one but each dungeon has different paths (i believe this applies for story mode too) and within those paths there MAY be different monsters on each path not to mention the progression will be different and since there are dynamic events in dungeons u may have things occuring only on one path that may not happen on the other paths or may happen but just not all the time so each dungeon has alot of replay value.
"no more holy trinity...every class can be a tank,a healer or a dps"
lmao that IS the holy trinity...you can just change between them..but its still exactly the same..if 5 dps all get in a mission together ones still gonna needa go tank and ones still gonna need to go heals..
good vid but i find that aspect of gw2 to be a joke...
@dezkai12 no it clearly says you will need someone healing and someone absorbing damage..yes you can change between dps, tank and healer but there still needs to be people filling those roles..only difference is after the run you can easily go back to your dps spec etc...
not a big deal..but still this is the holy trinity system whether you can change class/spec easily or not.
@vctrsone now one has a casting heal they all have 1 heal they can either use on them self or on people who need also any group of people can do a Dungeon for example 5 experimentalist can do a Dungeon together all they need to do is avoid bosses big attacks and help heal each other.another way is to cc extra mobs
Wow. Hadn't heard too much news on the dungeons, but this is awesome. It'll be nice having different variations, as well as dynamic events taking place, in dungeons. Hopefully it'll keep things feeling fresh and not as grind-y.

Question: If I don't have to do a dungeon to get the best gear, what is the point of doing them?
Forcedmetomakethis 2 months ago
@Forcedmetomakethis The gear isn't *worse* either, but it is unique, stuff that looks cool and shows off that you've done a specific dungeon.
tricketrav 2 months ago
@Forcedmetomakethis there is no point of playing games itself ..actually. ..other then having fun. now fun means for everyone something else .. so, if you dont enjoying dungeons there is no point to go in. if you like dungeons you will found tons of fun in there . :-D
abradras 1 month ago in playlist Season 1
DesaMii 2 months ago in playlist Uploaded videos
so there isn't any real reward for running dungeons? yeah.. fuck that shit.

pitoine03 2 months ago
I wouldn't really go so far as to say GW2 will have 32 dungeons. No, there will be 8. What makes it unique is, let's say you did Stockades in WoW, then you've seen stocks and know what to expect. But if you do a dungeon in GW2, then you haven't seen all it has to offer. The reason ANet did this was to bring their DE re-playability philosophy to dungeons. You don't need to grind them over and over to get that one item you want. You can choose to do a dungeon and then choose what item you want.
Azjenco 2 months ago in playlist Guild Wars 2 - Information
i kind of think the 32 experiences is a little rich, reminds me a bit like Maraudon in wow same dungeon but with different paths (orange and purple if i remember, happy times)
kevzy18 2 months ago
The logic you used to get from 8 dungeons to 32 dungeons makes me weep for the state of the education system
OctavioRedding 2 months ago 2
@OctavioRedding How so? According to him there's 8 dungeons and each one has 4 entirely different experiences. Eight times four equals thirty-two.
DisturbedKoala 2 months ago
@DisturbedKoala Eight times four does equal 32... But that's 32 different "experiences". We also don't know how different the story mode will be from any of the exploration modes, or how much off the beaten path any of them will be.
I'm abusing semantics, I know, but 32 "experiences" across 8 dungeons is still 8 dungeons.
OctavioRedding 2 months ago
@OctavioRedding Well I think about it this way from what I read on the ArenaNet blog on the subject. Every dungeon has different paths (some hidden) and each of these paths are literally a new place from what you've seen before which also has new foes. And as the story mode may have certain preset monsters to face, Explorable mode does not. As players have many options as to what they face & events happen in dungeons just as they do outside of them. So I believe this is a matter of perspective.

whats the differnce between dynamic events and dungones?
thelordhamza1 2 months ago in playlist Guild Wars 2 - Information
@thelordhamza1 From what I have learnt, dynamic events are basically quests that appear to be incident events that you will meet when you're running around throughout the maps. Unlike other mmorpg where there are npc with ? above their heads - u clicked - they say to kill # of wolves - u go kill them - come back to npcs and get rewards. Guild Wars 2 has no such things as ?. For dungeons, it probably unlocks something as part of the game - skills, storyline, gears, etc. and fun!!
Connen1 2 months ago
you forgot to mention that the sidekick system kicks you down for dungeons so in essence the full 32 dungeons are playable at max level.
ourorboros2 2 months ago in playlist More videos from getbonkd
I think it's a bit inaccurate to say there are no tanks. The adventurer, scholar and soldier classes do sort of line up with DPS, healer and tank respectively. Sure, each class can cover the "holy trinity" roles, but the classes lean towards one of the three roles.
Rognik 2 months ago in playlist Guild Wars 2 - Information
@Rognik Soldier, scholar and adventurer? I think your talking about the wrong game :O and if you mean the commando...that was a joke from ArenaNet.
Notsureifsrs
TacTicalWog 2 months ago
@Rognik
not really, a warrior for instance, sounds like a tanky class, its a soldier, high armour and so on however you can just as easily go buffer/ranged dps if you want to.
on the point of tanks, while there are classes who will obviously be able to take more of a beating(guardians versus mesmers for instance) with in dungeons because there is no aggro mechanic there isn't really anyway to actually tank other than everone else standing back and letting you get pummelled.
ourorboros2 2 months ago in playlist More videos from getbonkd
@ourorboros2 yh i think arenanet said the player nearest the enemy gets the aggro, this is why most of the melee professions have higher armor gear then those that would normaly be at range when fighting since they will be close up most of the time.
but since every class can fight at range and melee every character can help out by taking aggro off of others.
just think of the possibilitys my friends 0_0

8dungeons(story mode or default) times 3 (explorable) = 24 need 8 more for 32 i dont think a random event counts as a whole dungeon its nice tho

@Casin01 you have 8 story dungeons,+ 3 explorablemodes a dungeon
so 8+3x8=32 ;)

I love GW2 and i'm OBVIOUSLY gonna play it, but I dont support the dungeons idea... I know its a pain in the ass to be seeking for a healer, but thats the point in the game, team work.
DidIWakeYouMF 2 months ago
@DidIWakeYouMF The whole point is that each profession is not regulated to a specific class, each profession can damage, support, or control. This is where weapons come in, each weapon would have a specific build and each time you switch you switch a role, that means you can still be a tank if you want, some DPS or something new, like a controller. It keeps players on their toes and forces teamwork in dungeons by being creative, not regulated.

Awesum vid! One question though. If all the players can ressurect, will it not make it impossible to die in a group?Or is it not a combat rezz?

In game its going to be 12 dungeons, each of them will have 1 story mode and others 2 or 3 explorable modes, in story mode u will have cinematic how this dungeon apear the story of dungeon, after completing story u unlock explorable mode, in each explorable mode u wont have the same path as before its going to be different, for example different mobs, different places, different bosses, so my opinion its like in 1 dungeon 3 or 4 other dungeons, bc u will experience everything different :)

RayRai8262 4 months ago
@RayRai8262 the mistake he made was that there aren't 3 explorable modes there is only one but each dungeon has different paths (i believe this applies for story mode too) and within those paths there MAY be different monsters on each path not to mention the progression will be different and since there are dynamic events in dungeons u may have things occuring only on one path that may not happen on the other paths or may happen but just not all the time so each dungeon has alot of replay value.

"no more holy trinity...every class can be a tank,a healer or a dps"
lmao that IS the holy trinity...you can just change between them..but its still exactly the same..if 5 dps all get in a mission together ones still gonna needa go tank and ones still gonna need to go heals..
good vid but i find that aspect of gw2 to be a joke...
that is the holy trinity in every way and form.
vctrsone 5 months ago
@vctrsone no all people tank damage, all people heal for all and them self whilst doing damge
dezkai12 5 months ago
@dezkai12 no it clearly says you will need someone healing and someone absorbing damage..yes you can change between dps, tank and healer but there still needs to be people filling those roles..only difference is after the run you can easily go back to your dps spec etc...
not a big deal..but still this is the holy trinity system whether you can change class/spec easily or not.
vctrsone 5 months ago
@vctrsone now one has a casting heal they all have 1 heal they can either use on them self or on people who need also any group of people can do a Dungeon for example 5 experimentalist can do a Dungeon together all they need to do is avoid bosses big attacks and help heal each other.another way is to cc extra mobs
dezkai12 5 months ago
@dezkai12 rofl sounds like a good recipe for failz.
