So I spend all day in college today watching Talking Heads videos instead of doing work and I come across the Stop Making Sense dvd and decided to watch it all the way through on youtube. My teacher then says "Ok folks it's time to go home" Just as I was about to start watching this. It's the only time i've been pissed off about leaving college.
It's rare to see a video, especially of a song, that has all likes. 100%. But that's because pretty much all Talking Heads fans are true fans. And no body could hate on such a groovy song.

@Ocelotness I can't hear anything else but Tina's bass line, well except for David and the occasional percussive flair, but they're just background for the bass, really.
@sstyblo get outta here with your stupid adam sandler comments. that's an insult to the Talking Heads. please never compare adams sandler and the Talking Heads again
@jakekarlson r u people dense? Of course I think the talking heads are infinitely cooler than adam sandler; I was just making an observation to which several people fallaciously jumped to conclusions about. It's spelled f-a-l-l a -i-c-i-o-u-s when you type it into webster.com.
somehow tina weymouth´s basslines are of such innocent beauty and simplicity, the band would not sound even half as great with someone else on bass ---
I saw this same line up back in the day here in Tampa. I have nver been the same musically!!! It was gerat and makes me feel good bringing back memories when I see this!!!
It's about time! Now they've taken down crosseyed and painless. Not a single song from the Stop Making Sense Jonathan Deme movie should ever come off youtube. Ever! These are inspirational. Sometimes I need this stuff to get me through the night.
Thanks a lot for uploading this. I was looking for it for a while. It was the only song from the DVD that wasn't on youtube lol
I don't really like the beginning of this performance, though. I think the album version is so much better. The beginning of this seems kind of rushed, but it does get a lot better.
what are the odds... was looking for this video specifically and noticed it was added only days ago. i lucked out! i live for tina's bass line on this track.

I love Tina, but that bass on this is clearly a fretless, and I'm not convinced she's playing it. Sorry....
mookie2637 5 months ago
@mookie2637 The footage was filmed on different nights, and then edited together to (more or less) match the music. Maybe that's the reason.

@daimoneu Oh I see - thanks. (I feel a bit cheated now...)

I can't help but dance when I hear this. It's uncontrollable.

This song is the most fun. Such a groove and SO much energy!
Tina really glues it together. Her line is tight as hell and freakin' awesome! I adore that lady for her musicianship and style.
I really wish I would've been around to see this in person.

@jakekarlson Chris beat you to it. He loved Tina and she learned to play the bass so they could form a band.

Tiny Weymouth makes me so happy. Her line is sick and she's modest.

flippy floppy sounds like an expression an adam sandler of the early 90's would have for sex

@sstyblo Adam Sandler could only hope to be 1/10th as creative as David Byrne and the Talking Heads.

I used to go around dancing for weeks, when this record came out - if a man didn't 'get' it, I knew we'd never be together - great little test.

@PRSouthern very under rated as a bass player. her riffs thru many of TH songs really make them rock, plus David's rythm guitar
