My dad used to take me to the San Diego Sports Arena to watch World. I was like 8 years old and just marveled how this guy moved with the ball, how high he jumped, and the insane trajectory arc. I was taught to put the same arc in my shot, and spin dribble like Mr. World B. Free. However, my dad said 'DON'T USE THAT OFF-LEG KICK" . . .hahahahahahaha
@ehbautista We're in the same boat, having lost our NBA teams. I attended Sonics games at the Kingdome. Isn't it weird how the two "endpoints" of Interstate 5 have lost their NBA teams? You can make it three, if you include the Vancouver Grizzlies to the San Diego Clippers and Seattle Sonics.
he shot the ball from way-out without spin. he got his shot off over 6'7" guys. preposterous. name changing. he did more to influence me than pistol pete. and i am white. i drink wine and smoke dope with negros before taking the court still.
This guy is part of the reason the Bulls got Jordan and not the 76ers. Free was traded by the 76ers to the Clippers in 1976 for a 1st round draft pick of 1984. The lottery ended up giving the 76ers the 5th pick instead of what they were predicted to get, in the top 3. Billy Cunningham at the time was involved in the 76ers organization and being a good freind with Dean Smith, Jordan's coach at UNC, he was predicted to pick Jordan. Instead the Bulls picked Jordan 3rd and The 76ers took Barkley.
