i am an american who has been a student of ww2 and holocaust history for decades. it saddens me the generation who won ww2 is almost gone. having been a child of that generation many of my most vivid memories are from a time before i was born. we saw films of the concentration camps when i was in 5th grade and my english teacher hung a nazi bayonet and helmet, complete with bloody bullet hole above the flag (that would never be allowed now). we were immersed in their victory.

But, i don't know what the president of Russia meant by that, because many Russians still believe in the speech by a member of the USSR gave a speech basically saying that Russia's victory will not be now (the cold war) but years and years in the future when the west trusts Russia and then Russia shall bring the west to it's knees. That's basically what some politician in the USSR gave a speech about. IDK
