...of history. World history tends to come on later in a student's life. It usually starts with world/American geography, then to state history, then US history, then world history by different countries in a span of some months. One month may be French history, two months may be Russian history, and it goes on like that.
However, I am unsatisfied with how history gets taught. It seems only the countries that are "important" to America are taught, and then, not taught well. I want better edu.
That said, I want more world news! Desperately, I want to learn more about the world when I watch the news than just US news... I want to know what's going on in Russia, in Australia, England, Italy, China, Kenya, what have you. I've made plenty of international friends over the past two years, and it's infuriating I can't know what's going on in their country.
However, the schools are kind of 'meh' on international history. It DOES TEACH IT though. Every grade you're learning different types..
Hello, Louise! I'm Kriss from Texas, and in a short month or two, I shall be moving to Australia, and hopefully making a permanent residence there. I've started realizing these differences between World Information in America and in Australia relatively quickly when I talked about it with my friend in Australia, in which it turned into a debate, with her side winning and me coming to the understandment that, no, America doesn't do near enough for informing Americans of the world as needed.
@KrissLucia Thanks for your comments! I completely agree with you and we just try to teach o0ur kids through travel and talking to them about the world. My business helps a little also, I place AuPairs form all over the world with American families. I hope you will love Australia - we lived there for almost 2 years and I feel in loive with it.
