@coryjamesc On your first sanding with 1200 or 1500 you DON"T want to sand the edge because you might burn through, when you move to 2000 and 4000 grit, then it is alright to sand lightly to blend your wetsanding all togeather. Pete
@mitmaks The D/A pad that is used is a sponge type pad, and 4000 is so fine grit that it would be very hard to burn through the paint. What the 4000 does is give it a nice polish sand, to save you time and money when you buff it.. Pete
i never pay attention to thumbs up ratings? why would i take the advise of shlubs on the internet. if i see something i like or am needing info on i watch the fucking vid.
its like being swayed by a commercial on tv for tampons..and then thinking hmmm yeah i need that brand....come on ...is this what weve come to? fuck me running. but then again....who cares what i think...right? right..so watch the fucking vid or dont...use your brain cells
good job pete if i was near you i would love to come work for you for a few bucks and good mexican food when im hungry(so far all the mexican food i seen is mexi-cant-cook)lol
@dgssr43 I use 3M brand buffing compound "Prefect It, with a double side wool pad, then wash the car off and go back over it with Waffle Face Foam Pad and 3M Prefect IT 2 to remove the swirles and final buff.. Pete
@swrnc lol yeah its pretty much the best clear we can get out here, next to "vibrance"... and one of only a few PPG options actually available. all we can really get from PPG is the DC4010, the 2 omni clears, and the vibrance... i know going from shooting omni and other shitty clears to the DC4010 was night and day... people saw my work with the 4010 and couldnt believe the difference... i mean seriously Pete, it didnt even need to be buffed... no orange peel dude... lol
Hey Pete, one piece of advice to the MASS'S.......Always soak a few pieces of WET-PAPER overnight in water before use ,this ensures that the backbone of the paper is completly saturated and plyable...This makes the paper more flexible and less prone to DEEPLY SCRATCHING the clear coat...
@bethoveen3 You can wet sand edges with 2000, just be careful not to burn through... It's very hard to burn through with 2000 unless you have cheap clear, or not enough clear altogeather. Pete
lil tip, if you want super clean water when sanding use a spray / squirt bottle, the bucket is what we all use cos its quick and easy but you can start pulling bits of trash out of the water when it starts getting contaminated with sanded debris
Make it slicker then glass Pete.. Most people jump on one the next day to buff. I like to let clear dry hard for a few days. Some clears you cant or its a real bitch. I wait cause I have seen to much crap soak up and clear shrink. Just out of the Blue i wondered if Pete waited??
My Friend Pete Here----Take NOTE--On The Ending Credits--It States 200 Wet Sand Paper--IT's SUPPOSED TO SAY -- 2000 Grit Wet Sand Paper -- DO NOT USE 200 Grit SAND PAPER On Your Clear Coat!
@swrnc HAHAHA YUP. I have to fix a nose and hood on a C5 vette and rear bumper. Guy had some clown do it and i will say i never seen such a mess in my life till last night. Dry,sand scratches,Fish eyes, and looks like he sanded it with 600 and didnt own a buffer. Looks like he buffed by hand and sayed good anuff. He had no idea what he was doing. I have a allover to do on a TA for this guy. Then will come the Vette. I will make a video and show you haw fk up it is as i fix it.
@swrnc ROFLMFAO!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH please tell me you didnt have someone actually try 200 grit wet on their clear coat *falls off chair dead from laughter*

hey pete i got a question for you
can this work to wet sand a model car or is it diffrent?
chevy214d 1 year ago
@chevy214d You can wetsand anything that is clearcoated. On a model I would start with 2000 grit and 4000 grit. Pete
swrnc 1 year ago
@swrnc thanks pete...oh and..high five im from dallas too
chevy214d 1 year ago
how would you wetsand curved and tight spot areas with 4000 on D/A? You don't want to use flat D/A pad on curved panels.

THE CREDITS STATE 200 grit--IT"S WRONG--2000 GRIT IS THE PROPER Sanding Paper!!! My Mistake......
swrnc 1 year ago
norton ice is good economical sand paper. 3m imperial lasts the longest though but pricey.
btw, it's 2000 grit pete. Don't want anybody trying to buff out 200 grit marks but with that said I never seen that grit. Love your videos bud!

@swrnc i hear the difference mainly revolves around not having to use reducer, which means less dieback and less chance of solvent pop.
