Was this in a movie? if not it should be maybe an 80s one where the main character is going shopping or just waking up start her day..whatever it maybe Scritti Politti was one of the most underrated bands in the 80s so many hits
This single belongs to the crem de la crem of the 80s music, we are talking about a music galaxy million of light years distant from today's crap music !!!!!
wont work, i tried it with Human League - fascination.
the audio has now been flagged and everytime its uploaded it will be deleted before it gets to the viewable stage but dont take my word for it, try it.
I've bought numerous albums legally after finding tracks I'd forgotten about on Youtube.
I bought 'Cupid & Psyche 85' off Amazon and then downloaded the single version of 'Perfect Way' (Album version is crap) off 7digital after seeing this vid.
Why can't the record company suits understand they are shooting themselves in the foot by coming down hard on uploaders to Youtube?
I also love this song & have spent the last 15 years trying to find out the name of the guy who sang it. I'd hear it on the radio and never catch the name of the song or the band. Thank God for youtube!
OMG I used to wear this cassette out! I loved this song!! used to watch it over and over on MTV :) I was a bad girl when this song was playing LOLOL thanks for posting.
I love this 80's New Wave/Romatic group.... I used to wear the guy liner and 80's fashion and this was one of my favorite groups! Driving down Highway 1 from SFO to L.A.
Green Gartside in this video seems more concerned with his hairdo than anything else but don't let that fool you. Scritti Politti were sublime. Everyone thought it was bubblegum pop but they took things much further, not least with witty twists in their lyrics. "I've got a perfect way to make a certain a maybe/I've got a perfect way to make the girls go crazy".
Best song of the 80s - and golly Green Gartside was soooo cute. Scritti Politti was hardly a one-hit wonder - they had several hits in the UK and around the world. Just because they only charted once in the US hardly makes them a one-hit wonder. Maybe the rest of the world just had better taste...
Green Gartside the lead singer yum yum he is good looking ! I remember this song very well I was 14 when this song came out in 1985 and played the cassette of the album on my walkman until it warped ! I miss the 80's and hearing this song brings back great memories
the only thing gay about this all is you. In the 80's man, or woman, it was like that and that... you were probably born after that (80's)with all due respect.
i was 13 when this came out..and at the time nothing on the radio sounded like it...it was very clean and tight and the singer i thought was great...this band is another line of the long list of bands that were great in the 80s but didnt get to go as far as they should..and then shortly after this the bottom fell out musically and then all the hair bands started comming in and i dispised that..i liked the cool clean lines of bands like abc not some big haired idiot like in later times.
"You wanna margin of error for two...I gotta wait here for your moon to turn blue...""You've got the keys...to his car...we've got the nerve to have got this far...". Hyper-intelligent rockin' funk!
When I really listen to this song, what makes it so catchy for me are twofold. First, and most noticeably, they have uncannicaly made the lyrics a part of the music, not an aside or a driver. They've blended them, like when they say "A part from everyone, away from your life" it moves with the music, makes it very easy to hear. The next are the sheer volume of lyrics is uncanny for a pop song. This song transcended pure pop into more "industrial" type music. well done.
I'm familiar with this song thru Miles Davis, which aside from the vocals sounds nearly identical. I'm not sure why Miles covered it actually. I know he was into various tunes at that time
such a happy song as is my other scritti fav boom there she was. green is a genius, this stuff is timeless and works today. great for chair dancing,ha.
this songs backing bassline melody sounds almost exactly like D-trains "somethings on your mind" and if im not mistaken they also came out right around the same time.
This song has that certain infectious something that i just cant put my finger on, the music is engaging and well produced and greens voice though androgynous is frikkin' catchy as hell on this particular tune.....This song reaffirmed by love for everything 80s.
Im in my late 20's and i remember the mid 80s rather vaguely, and i dont recall this scritti song in particular at all. With that said a few years back i was listening to a local now defunct 80s dance variety radio channel when i heard "perfect way" for the first time.....needless to say I wanted to track it down and find it immediately on compact disc or vinyl.
Many many reasons but one is to do with chord progressions and musical arrangements. There are chord 'recipes' that just work well, and there are those that just don't. Take for example Billie Jean by MJ. The song is very catchy. Same progression as Smooth Operator by Sade. This song is also similar. His feminine voice is also non-threatening. And beside all that, just a damn good funky song.
Thanks. I just looked them up up. I have to say that I can see a similarity in both their styles.
In fact, I found out something else that connects Scritti Politti and the System even further. I read on Wikipedia that ths System collaborated with Polliti on the album Cupid & Psyche 85. Also, David Frank, who was a member of the System, also produced a lot of Scritti Polliti's work.
This song doesn't sound one bit like Celebrate New Life, not even one bit and BeBe and CeCe did'nt write the music, if you're going to blame someone blame Keith Thomas
You're so wrong this song has nothing in common with the winans song expect that they both are from the 80's, don't accuse people unless you have proof
What an idiot you are. This song sounds SHITTY, while the Winans's song actually sounds like REAL MEANINGFUL music, and as I told you and that ftwelve12 before, SCRITTI...POLITTI's..."music"....RIPS...OFF...OF...THE....SYSTEM!
WTF? are you so devoid of a life that you have to insult me for a comment in made months ago and can barely remember without coming here to remind myself? i say some thing negative about your precious thieving winans fuckwits and your only defence is to insult me and metaphorically stick your fingers in your ears and go "LALALALALALALALALA"? Please, grow the fuck up, twat. i could care less about the winans. Scritti politti had a new album out 2 years ago. what about the winans? didn't think so.
if i didnt know better i would say green is as dumb as a plank. as astonishing as is sounds, this guy had a lunch with the contemporary phylosopher Jaques Derrida sometime in the early 80s and the latter agreed that this is a deconstruction of pop ! green is a culture fiend ! amazing songwriter also!!
The name Scritti Politti was chosen as a homage to the Italian Marxist theorist Antonio Gramsci: The name is generally understood to refer to Gramsci's political writings (although the correct spelling in Italian would have produced "Scritti Politici"). Green changed it to "Scritti Politti" as he thought it sounded more rock and roll, like "Tutti Frutti".
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! The video, WOW!!!! I loved this whole LP, and still have it and the poor worn out cassette from this era! Makes me feel so freakin young and always loved this style of dressing. Thanks for posting one of my favorite bands from back in the day! ; D
I thought it was a chick singing this until about 30 seconds ago. I was 9 when this came out in 1985, and I still can't help but smile when I hear it.
Thanks for posting this. I love it. It brings back such memories. I'd heard people talk about this group, and this was the first song of theirs that I heard. Needless to say, I was impressed.
Scritti is, without a doubt, one of the best 80's wave bands to grace us during that era, that unfortunately didn't get the recognition they deserved. The music was unlike anything else at the time. Even today, their music is flawless. I never get tired of listening to them!
All you ladies in your 30's, I hear you, I was squeeing to this man before that was even a word. Just for your information, though, I googled him and he's 52 now. He was way hot in this video, perhaps it would be best if I didn't see a recent picture of him. Just let him look this forever in my mind.
Shit, I didn't know this guy's name was Greene Gartside I simply thought he was Scritti Politti, the band's name. He's a fine fine man though. He could still get it. Gives me fourth grade memories of staying after school for Jump Rope for Heart or something.
I can't help but smile everytime I hear this song. There's just something so joyful about it. Never get tired of it. One of those songs I wish I had written.
yeah, i would like to do him too ! ( back thn ) great hair, nice face! a pretty boy, like me.. trivia time...supermodel veronica webb is the black girl in video
1985- remember it well, loved this song. It's so original sounding, have always favored british music over any other music, they are very natural in creating melodies and they are very sincere.
Completely agree, iconic song. Heard it once and loved it. It's been in my head for nearly 20 years! Only after googling the few words I knew, I found out who sang it. Thanks for posting you have put a 20 year old question to bed, and re-kindled a great song.
This was my favorite songs of the 1980s. It just was not the most popular. I think it made it to the top ten in the United States but can not remember.
I remember taping this video from MTV in 1985. I kept watching it over and over... freezing at the frame with the brunette girl. I just now realize it was Veronica Webb. The song and the video resume the best of the 80's.
ftwelve12, thank you very much for posting this hit, you have made my day. I love this song so much and I hadn't heard it for a long, long time. Very sophisticated and positive in my view :)
Agreed! This hit was one that got me going to class in the 80's and when going to the dance clubs for 50 cent Long Island Ice Tea Night(Thursdays)in Cola SC! Great memories!

because youtube is run by a bunch of cunts who care more about corporations than thier users.
the dont care that a majority of the users use youtube for the things that they're stopping us doing, like music videos.
we're not all gossip bloggers like michael buckley or twats like phillip defranco.
youtube need to be careful or they'll find thier users leaving in droves. dont forget, there's always something better around the corner

1985- remember it well, loved this song. It's so original sounding, have always favored british music over any other music, they are very natural in creating melodies and they are very sincere.

What's so great about this song is that it could be released TODAY and still be a hit. It's classic.

i agree with that brilliant song thanks for posting it
migz2k7x 4 years ago 5
