  • Ronnie Hawkins, used to play with the Hawks, before they became The Band. Peter Paul & Mary wrote this, performed in perfection such beautiful harmonies, then Gordon Lightfoot covered it with his touch, & credited his career to this big hit. Jerry Reed did a similar smooth version, Paul Weller, and the Kingston trio, & lovely Eva Cassidy added her soulful magic . O & Elvis, he did it too.

  • @mythtree Sorry - this was written by Gordon Lightfoot and covered by PPM. Both great versions though.

  • @noacesnone Thank you, you are right; I misinterpreted Mr. Lightfoot's comments attributing his getting into show business to PPM's recording a hit version of this (his song). So many have recorded this song, demonstrating influence and achievement. I also forgot to mention the Grateful Dead recorded it, but then, what great thing did they not do at one time or other?

  • Haha ... I remember ... " Rock-it time!! " or was it "Racket time" ...it doesn't really matter ... just what a good time it always was ... .. thanks for great memories ..

  • So nice!
