It has got black metal elements, yes, but nowhere near emo. Emo is a mix of hardcore punk, indie rock and just plain pop punk, whereas Nortt produces a mix between black and the so-called funeral doom genres. You just saw a guy in a forest with a rope and immediately thought "emo", when Nortt actually represents true misanthropy and the embrace of death as the liberating moment in existence.
