  • I have a question (sorry to be a pain in the ass) but in sl how do you get the advanced sky editor option? I've searched for a good hour and I can't find it at all.. :/

  • @eksorrell What viewer are you on?

  • oh the part where it said hold Alt and click the white box at the bottom and press CTrl and C to copy it again and CTrl i right?? THE BLACK PICTURE DONT GO INTO THE WHITE BOX WITH THE COLOR PICTURE WHYYYYYYYYYYY!!??

  • OH MY GOSH this is a Godsend for editing around Truth hair!! Thank you!

  • I'm entering my avvy into her first modelling competition and your vids are by far the most helpful I've found. I wish you weren't so hard on yourself too, you're good!

  • OMG I LOVEEE U !

  • How did you turn the black silhouette mask layer into white sillhouette? (Look at 1:50)

  • I had the exact same problem, with turning full bright one, and turning the gamma all the way down, and it just showing black, untill i used grey instead of white, and tinted it untill it was like 1 point from white, which is essentially white.

The only problem is, (and i'm not sure this is related) when i used the alpha in PS it cut off huge chunks of the image, including the head.

Does anyone have any solutions to this?

  • This works REALLY well with light back grounds but not dark ones... any tips?

  • @RicePudden NVM i am an idiot who doesn't listen to direction LOL

  • this isnt working for me, it removes the background but leaves a whole body of white pushed to the side as if its a white shadow. any suggestions as to what im doing wrong? also when i click on the top layer it doesnt do like yours does and instantly go away, that only happens when i click the layer with the mask on it =\ please help!

  • I find a better way of removing the halo is: "Layer > Matting > Remove White Matte", but the first steps was really helpful, thankyou!

  • @TheMrYin I have tried that option myself, but the matting feature is greyed out. Is there a way to use it?

  • @zilzilii Try Ctrl + J to make a copy before using the Matting?

  • The white halo wouldn't go away for me sadly, not sure why ;[

  • thank u so much u are really amazing :)

  • this is amazing, i love you forever

  • - If you turn down gamma but you still see some light, please go to PREFERENCES -> GRAPHICS and make sure your lighting is set to SUN AND MOON ONLY. If you have local lighting turned on, and you have a nearby light source, turning down gamma will not silhouette your avatar :)

    - If you still have jagged edges on your avatar, you likely need to turn on anti alias. Do this in PREFERENCES - GRAPHICS - HARDWARE SETTINGS. Most computers that run SL well, will support having this turned on. :)

  • @kateycoppola I have done these settings, but instead of getting a silhouette the whole screen goes black. Anything I am missing?

  • Hiiiiiiii Katey! For some reason I can't seem to get the black sillhouette part when I try it, its like it turns to midnight... I still see myself not even close to being a sillhouette I don't know what I am doing wrong.. and its probably so simple that I am missing. maybe its not working because i'm using firestorm viewer? i don't know but this is really bugging me. Help please.

  • @PortCityLiipsz i use firestorm and it still works

  • Hi Katey, thanx for the great tutorial, it saved my phothograph life \o/ Since I don't have enough time to look for great places in SL to use for background, the white studio became my best friend, almost part of me, LOL. Btw, I hate the green background...U.U

  • Hi katey could you please make a tut on how you take your pictures in sl?... btw love your store XD

  • I have a doubt. I realized in the end of this part to the liquify part, that the layer 1 with the black mask and set to overlay disappeared on the next video.

I tried to merge the layer 1 copy with the layer 1 mask, but for me the gray comes back when I do that. :("

I wonder what I'm doing wrong. Could you help me Katey?

What did you do with yours?Did you merge them?

    Ty in advance.

  • @lilaclemenceau

    Hi! :)

Make sure you have the black sillhouette layer set to "Overlay". This technique isn't perfect - if there's a large halo (ie from hair with a lot of fine alpha layers, like Truth) it will be hard to eliminate all of it using any method. It helps if you are using a paler background :)

    xx

  • Okay this made my life complete ... why am I always fighting with the green screen ?!
