  • Can you do an instructional video? Looks awesome!

  • its 1 cylinder its not even worth it

  • too much free time... still pretty cool though

  • WELL DONE! youve managed to make a really simple carb and magneto ignition system into a load of unnecessary wires and shit! its like a break thru! you should work for the gvrnment, they are good at fucking overcomplicating something really simple!......just a career option, i dont think youll get rich with this......

  • well you useless sack of shit, there could be an use for this, like me for example, i have to start a 3hp just like this in -55 to run a wood elevator to heat my house. it takes me about a hour to get it running using a torch down the spark plug hole to heat the bore and carb, then its gas down the hole and in the carb, then pull it over a million times and put gas down the carb to warm it up on prime untill it finally starts to run unasisted. this system could make that all so much easier.

  • useless sack of shit? how the fuck does having all this shit hanging off it make any difference then? if you have to put a blowtorch down the plug hole , is it possible that your briggs is fucked? if the engine is in good condition ,it will start with its original carb and ignition, having an overcomplicated system like this will give NO BENEFIT. if you live in a cold place , the last thing you want is an ignition module to fail, because it DEFINATELY would not start then! simplicity is the best

  • i never once said blowtorch, i said torch, if you had a decent head on your shoulders you would know the difference. this is obviously a prototype so "all this shit hanging off it" is not where it would be if it should ever be in production. look at your car/truck it has a computer and electronic ignition, and it always starts in hot/cold or where ever you live. "an overcomplicated system like this will give NO BENEFIT" you could make ignition and fuel delivery delayed or advanced.

  • right unclebubbles, my car/truck might have a computer and electronics because it has to cope with constantly changing loads, your briggs engine is designed to run at its peak output at a fixed rpm, say 1500rpm, you do not need variable timing or a high pressure fuel injection system. i build air cooled vws, they use basic points and carburettor, for their low power output this is perfectly adequate. just as magneto and carb is perfectly adequate for a briggs,im not a stupid kid mate ...........

  • i realise you think that efi and fei would be good on your briggs in the cold but ,a briggs runs at tdc so it doesnt need advance, it only runs at 1500rpm due to cam design, so fuel requirement is low, adding a high pressure pump, injector, regulator, crank trigger, ignition module, wiring harness, power supply(no generator on briggs) just to get the EXACT SAME RESULTS as a carb and magneto is counter-productive! im sure if your home heating relies on your briggs, youd want simple reliability..???

  • you got an issue w/ my name? ok you got me on the changing loads thing. but out of both of those posts you are only talking about running, not starting, my little briggs runs great ONCE IT IT'S OPERATING TEMPS. its the getting it going part that is giving me grief. it needs LOTS of fuel to even think about firing, hence the gas down the spark plug hole, or flip a switch to throw it into cold start fuel map, 2 pulls and its running, warm it up, hit the switch again to set it to a working fuel map

  • ok dude, lets calm down here! i see that you have a starting problem, it seems to me that if your having to tip fuel down the plughole to get the over-rich mixture needed for cold start, then maybe your carb is not choking enough? try putting a regular tyre pull in valve into your fuel tank and pumping say 5psi into the tank, just for cold start youll get a super rich mixture until the pressure drops, run the air intake pipe onto the exhaust manifold for heated air, the efi would just be trouble

  • i have no issue with your name, only being called a sack of shit! ive been a mechanic for 18yrs, i know that pointless ideas like the efi will not cure your problem, just give more things to go wrong!! maybe on a drag racer or circuit racer it would be worthwhile, not a briggs! i know this is a bit of a childish argument, but im only trying to be realistic!

  • alright, i did go overboard with the useless sack of shit thing, its just that you came across as an asshole to me at the time. it may not be chocking enough as i have to put my hand over the carb to seal off air completly for it to fire. but you do have to remember that it is trying to burn fuel that is cold enough to freeze your skin literaly instantly. i would try the air in the tank thing, but this engine is a mile away from my house so i dont think the hose would quite reach...

  • im starting to enjoy this trans-atlantic chat! anyway, a decent bicycle pump in your pocket and a can of easystart(ether) should get the fucker poppin! we used to make a fire in a bucket with a bit of diesel and put it under the sump of our fork trucks, them a burning rag held in front of intake on cranking, i guess you might need 3 hands to do it, but good luck with it anyways....if not get a cheap vw flat four, that will start even in an ice age! .......take care.....

  • lol you described exactly what my dad used to do with fordson major diesel's back in the day, with the bucket and diesel, nailed it perfectly... anyway i refuse to use ether on a small gas engine, especesaly a very cold and brittle one. it starts it alright, but then it goes above and beyond to wind that little cold engine to about 80 million rpm, and thats when bad thing start to happen. i had a 10 hp B&S on a woodspliter (of all things) that threw a rod because of ether, and a stupid friend.

  • yes, we call easystart 'engine heroin' they dont half rattle when they fire, its like going out drinking, a little is fine, but if you down too much , it starts to destroy you! we had an 'a' series ford recovery truck, i had to plumb in a 1/8" pipe from cab to intake, had a can of easystart cable tied to the dash permanently! that fucker was a junkie! never stand near it when starting! if the flying rod didnt get you, the belching smoke would! oddly it was a police registered emergency vehicle!

  • Its like when people stick 20,000$ into a honda to get 500hp when they could get 1500hp from a v8 for that much. He probably did it for the challenge. I know I would.

  • @frosty9595 , yes i understand that, but it just seems so futile.....

  • @ben, I feel the same way about hondas. Very pointless. But if this guy does it for fun then the way I see it... To each his own. If he likes engines and has some spare time then why not? I have 30 computers at my house ranging from the late 80s to last month and some people say im crazy. I just do it as a hobbie.

  • very fucking cool! Does it start easily?

  • I so want to do this! Post a writeup!

  • looks like its on fuckin life support

  • Hi dude....

I want to do the same as you, what kind of sensor did you used to get the time of injection?

    Thanks!

  • Wow one of the FEW REAL fuel injection systems that actually seems to work good!!! Kudos!!!

Look into a Megasquirt fuel management system if you want to go nuts. It's like a FAST XFI or Accel DFI, but at a fraction of the cost because you assemble the PCB yourself. Gives you TOTAL engine management....

  • Hey buddy I have tried megajunk and never will use it agian, I figured if im going to invest my time and money, I might as well brew up my own controller and program code to do it with, and this video proves that, yet I did it again!

  • why didn't you like megasquirt? It's fantastic!!! Not sure about on a single cylinder Briggs but on a car at least.... Cool project anyway!!

  • When I first learned/used megajunk, it was back when they had V3 with 2.1 code, there code was junky at the time and they had some Fidle circuit problems. You have look at it this way, I only "like" things I have complete control over and I built, if I see something someone eles made, that I can improve on, then there stuff is junk :P

  • @djrevolution99 EZ EFI is showing some suprising potential.

  • What size injector did you use? Please respond.

  • its off a ford escort 1.9l motor, i think 23 lb/min? I ended up swaping over to 1000cc street bike EFI injectors, there litterly tiny, and flow less rate of fuel.

  • Well done m8 do you have an electronic fuel pump inside your fuel reservoir?

  • Very nice work on the EFI. May I ask you a question? Have you thought of ignition advance/retard: Advance to peak high end torque, and Manifold vacuum operated retard for decelleration, which would be good for saving the brakes on the Go-Kart. Vacuum retard would sound good too, because as far as I heard, it causes the engine exhaust to crackle on decelleration. Just a thought. :)

  • would probably run better with a low restriction exhaust, and an E3 spark plug

  • What you use for engine management?

  • Very nicely stated! "settle it with your pedal, not your mouse!" I like it!

  • Chocolate makes my belly squirt

  • Don't you just love the ego-battles of the "my truck is better than yours" adolescent mentality on a **briggs and stratton** video. What a bunch of tards. Oh my truck is better than yours, I'm better than you!!!! ROFL

  • KartMan250: You're like 17, how would you know about old cars?

  • could i run mine on a mix of gasoline+ naphta (zippo lighter fluid) ?... it woulh eb like a high octane fuel :D

  • i used lighter fluid in my 50cc, no good. fucking thing burst into flames on me.

  • You're very illiterate. Are you a hillbilly?

  • ya shuld hav revd it to 8 grand on da vid

  • NICE!!!!!

  • did you still have the stock rods in that when you went up to 8k rpm?

  • i have had my briggs up to 7200 with stock internal componants.

  • awsome love to see it on a custom ride'on mower tearing up the streets / lawn lol...

  • How d'you make the EFI? Tell us! I'm interested for a Honda OHC single.

Is there a circuit kit to buy, or did you scratch build something?

  • not eletronic fuel controled really not injected its off a 4 wheeler

  • so it idles. great, it does that on its standard carb! prove that it runs smoothly when you rev the thing!! is that not the point!? im struggling to find the point of the whole project really. EFI will make it run no different than factory setup. pointless

  • iam going slap the F**K out of you!

  • Great job...send us a link with more info

on getting EFI installed on our favorite

    Briggs.

  • Awesome!! Well done, thats class!!!!

  • You are completly out of control!! I love it!

  • Anyone talking crap is just jealous of you. Don't worry I already know your next project is going to be killer. But hurry it up your missing all the fun. LOL

  • Ok quick test, did you upgrade your valve train. If thats stock and you didnt buy a high performance motor then it most probably cant get above 3600 rpm

  • Nope, the igntion advance hlped me get up in the 4000's and fine fuel tuning.

  • thomasuras - ur a fuckin ass hole, a little honda fuckin mini ricer has so little torque compared to any briggs or tecumseh of the same hp out there

  • dont be an idiot, just look what engens are in usr when it comes to making a living , generators, water pumps, all pro grass tools

  • yea runs good almost as good as a honda ,american small engins suck hard . I dont care what you do

  • Ok there supra go play with your cat

  • shure thing u stupid redneck ford loving crap u drive hillbilly . Theirs a reason American Car companies are going Broke and Volvo has taking over the Earth moving Industry

  • hay fuck u-u comunist

  • Glad you said sumptin stupid , So now i can tell ya bout my new truck . ita a toyota has over 400 hp stock and rides like a caddy with real nic`e leather and 4 doors . kisks the shit outa dodge ford and chevy

  • well i have a harly davidson and it is an

"AMERICAN BIKE" and it runs great! And how can you call people like me rednecks when you say words like sumptin, I mean come on! RED-NECK!!!!!!

  • well aint dat sumptin , you stupid redneck im talking down to ya so you can under stand . And harly's are junk when it comes to preformance

  • youre junk when it comes to preformance and i do understand but I still root for america!

  • *WOW* what a wortless piece of SHIT! couldnt touch a ford 7.3L powerstroke! and ur little comment about volvo, ford owns them you fuckin dumbass chink!

  • your name says it all fords r junk

  • too bad toyota doesnt make a thing that could touch em "powerwise", and "capabilitywise" (aswell as tow ratings)

  • no one is going to chose a ford over a toyota if they had the choice.

  • what do you mean "have the choice" if you have a 24500# trailer, there is no toyota, dodge, or chevy choice!

  • you idiot.Toyota introduced a 1/2 ton full size pick up to compete with fords , chevys and dodges 1/2 ton pick up . They blew them all out of the water . When Toyota decides to compete in another class they will blow that class out of the water. If you want a 1/2ton truck their is none better than a Toyota

  • Toyota beats all competition in a 1/2 ton Pu

  • 1/2 ton? wow thats gay. try 3/4 or 1, oh wait, TOYOTA DOESNT EVEN HAVE ANYTHING IN THAT CLASS!, AND, THEY DONT EVEN MAKE A DIESEL!! ...you stupid little asswipe!

  • you both need to shut the hell up i got a 1972 Dodge with a 400ci that would tear your damn jap crap toyota's apart just by reving the engine!!!!!!!

  • oh fucking please... look at the earlier f250's with 460ci's in them it would fucking destroy that pos dodge

  • if you didnt notice, he was not talking about a FORD he was talking about TOYOTAS, last i checked FORDS were not jap crap, however he does have a point, a dodge, especially that particular '72 would DESTROY a toyota

  • yeah i know, and yes even a DODGE could kill one of those little ricers!

  • You were talking about toyota's now you talking bout fords i don't give a crap bout you ford my 72 dodge would destroy anything you through at it so go cry to you mama cause my truck could kick your truck ass!!!!!!!

  • yeah... im sure buddy; 1994 7.3L powerstroke f250, banks sidewinder turbo, bd chip, mbrp stright piped, big injectors, snow perfomance water/methanol injection, 6" lift, 38" super swamper tsl's, & many more mods

DODGE & TOYOTA SUCK DICK!!! PERIOD!!!

BTW: congratulations on owning the worst transmission ever made (if you know anything about mopar history)

  • if u knew anything u moron Chrysler transmissions were the best back in the day, as i remember the ford c4 and c6's were just copies of the mopar 727 and 904, so if i were u id shut ur big mouth cuz mopar rules

  • that was back in the day. (and they were far from the BEST, they were just the best mopar had made, gm still had the best, and ford was second to that.)

the c series have no relation to chrysler crap at all.

as far as the past 25 years go, mopar was #1 for the WORST transmissions, you cant deny it cockgobbler!

    MOPAR BLOWS!!!

    FORD ALL THE WAY!!!!

  • 460s suck nutin compared to a mopar 440 or 400. rofl a dang 318 outperforms them

  • 400 & 318 - not even close.

    440's - pretty close.

torque is no comparison 460 all the way, but the 440's have a good deal of topend so theyre just about even.

    sorry buddy but remember:

    FORD

    First On Race Day

    MOPAR

    Most Often Passed At Races

  • fucker runs nice props
