The quality of this video is beyond horrible. It sounds like he's singing in a toilet bowl while it's flushing. There's also a turd in this toilet bowl.
I think the stupid music company pulled the original version of this video, be glad we've still got this one, even if it's not the best quality! Grrrr :-/
"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe."
So...I was a fan when this song came out, and was much, much younger than the guys. Doing the math...in this video they were two years younger than I am now. ...That's just not right. *sulks*
While Invisible Touch might not live up to your lofty expectations of the band with Peter Gabriel, the songs from Abacab such as the title track and Home By The Sea were hardly "bubblegum crap". As for Peter Gabriel for the win, the band's music was much more accesible, and required much less acid being dropped, once he left the band. Record sales prove it. So, in truth, Peter Gabriel Ftw NOT!
@hamterwheel7490 Some of you complaining about the Audio, need an Upgrade on your Speaker System, mine is new and the sound is Perfect! Love Genesis God Bless the 80's Classics!
@johnied8509 He may have someone specific in mind but it's really just about men going after and lusting after women they know are bad for them and will in the end hurt them but they do it anyway because there is just something about her(an invisisble touch).
@STARBARTZZ interesting to note this was the very first(and only Genesis no.1...but by no means their first or last Top 40! And if memory serves me correct Peter Gabriel knocked them off the next week with his "Sledgehammer" Best yet, Rutherford's side band Mike @ The Mechanics still had songs on the charts and PC still had songs from his very popular "No Jacket Required" coming out of the woodwork!
I had to look up this video. I loved how the 3 clowned around here. Miss their camaraderie. I really don't know anything about Genesis up til 78(before Collins took over for lead, and it was just the Rutherford, Banks format, but loved how they became a stadium selling rock band afterwords(loved all their cassettes and it did themselves justice for the radio airwaves too, wracking up at least over an impressive 20 Top 40 hits)
oh yeah, they've come a long way from Musical Box.. BArf. mind the sarcasm it's still Good 80's song but I will always miss when Peter Gabriel was the lead.
One of the best genesis videos Quite funny also the comment on the poor audio that happens actually to be part of the original video it wasn't a great recording it had alot of echo in my opinion
Long live the 80's! I love both the song and the video. It's great to watch how much fun they had making this video, so natural. So many favorite songs from this decade, glad to have been a child of the 80's. Who would have know things would just be downhill from there on.
I agree I'm 30 but my folks listened to all that 80's stuff I love it...........midnight oil, pour some sugar on me, raise a little hell, we're not going to take it, men with hats I could go on forever have fun with those
Such a great song (obviously bad audio here though as others have pointed out), but god that music video is just slimy. Phil Collins in his skullet groping with the rest of the band. Just wretched stuff.
i heard that in the church its neat the preacher said take it in your hand its rose road church of god. and im still cute even if everybody wakes me up at midnight
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this band really lost it when Pete left. too bad. they could have been so much beter with him in it, but he went on to make some pretty kick ass songs on his own so i guess it all works out.
Oh man. That was so much fun they were all over the recording rigs. And that moment where Phil does a mok flash. This has to be one of the cuter Video shoots I have ever seen.
Thank you for sharing no matter how much people complain about the audio. Heck the Audi not being studio quality may be part of why the Label isn't appearing to take it down yet.
