  • Gret song I always liked it when it first came out in 66 buit never hear it on the radio ever.

  • One of the 5 best garage songs ever, probably my fave song from the nuggets box set

  • I had this song on a 45 rpm in the sixties. It was great!

  • Where have you been all my life. Maybe it´s because I´m from Scandinavia and at that time all the teens listen to bands from England. But I love the raw and honest garage sound from the 60s. My big fav. during the mid 60s was a band called THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". Still irresistible fu.......g good!!!!!!

  • One of the greatest songs of our time..brilliance!

  • Romantics did a version but not as cool as this one Great garage band tune Biught this is 65 in Mich What a great time to be going to school in Mich You got Motown and all the small Detroit groups like Parliaments Faabtastic Four Bob Seager 67 also Chicgo groups nNw Colony Six British invasion super wonderful stuff

  • our band, the Noblemenn used to play this song in our early days. When it was popular.

  • I dig that fuzzy bass.

  • This song was HOT in '65.

  • Love the three girls sitting behind the lead singer. They are so synchronized that they look like robots. They keep repeating the same motions over and over again. What stamina !!!

  • Robin Seymour's Swingin' Time (out of Windsor, Ontario) was far and away the most ambitious show of its kind. He actually had Richard And The Young Lions on the show several times. Open Up Your Door peaked at #3 on the charts of WKNR Keener 13 across the river in Dearborn, Michigan. Richard is greatly missed.

  • You guys are right, I heard all about what a huge hit this was in Detroit , which was already embracing hot , high energy sounds. I met the band in 2000 at their triumphant 1st reunion show. All super guys , but , Richard seemed a fragile , gentle soul , with a dry sense of humor. A sweetheart. Hail King Richard !

  • This was a huge hit on Detroit radio. As you can see, the dancers on Swingin Time loved this record. At a party, this song always got everyone dancing and singing. A great tune. You gotta move to the beat when you hear it !

  • @owsh123 An hour or so u made a comment, I tune this one in 3x a week, bought the record too. Anyway I did little research just now 7 found out it was top 10 for 2 wks, #3 on CKLG's siverdollar survey, Oct 29/66. It was kept out of the top spot by #2 Lady Godiver by Peter & Gorden & #1 Good Vibrations by the Beachboys of coarse. We have in common the 40th parallel, Vancouver(greater) here in the west & the motor city(Detroit) in the east.. Thx4 keeping this heavy sound alive on youtube. lol

  • I wish this video was available 6 years ago before the Richard and the Young Lions documentary was released!!!!

  • this oldi -but -kickass great song came to mind yesterday, but couldn't remember much except dying of bliss every time I heard it in 1966! Found this on You Tube tonight and I'm dying all over again! I'm 16 and madly in love again!! One of the best ever!!

  • This oldie but kick -ass great song came into my mind yesterday. Couldn't remember much except I used to die of bliss every time I heard it in 1966! Found it on You Tube tonight and I'm dying all over again!! Makes me feel 16 years old and madly in love again!! Thank you so much!

  • When I was a grad student at U of Michigan, a friend of mine who was into 60's garage introduced me to this record. I was IMMEDIATELY captivated. The song just floored me. It is the perfect garage rock track. Covered by The Romantics ( who did an ok job ), I just don't understand why more bands don't do this song... it POUNDS THE FLOOR!

  • What a great song......I still have the single, but had never seen them before!!!

  • Watch him live with Elbow-The Fix...amazing.

  • This song rocks from 66'

  • Fantastic to see this.

  • II was constantly buying records(my hobby) & I did however limit myself, but this one was a must in my collection! Anyway I didn't have the foggiest idea wahat you might of looked like and that goes for many others. I did keep up with the top 40, but pix of certain artists weren't easy to come by back when and I certainly didn't make much effort to look you guys up. There're were fan mags but like I said. Anyway with the internet, it's all there(well almost). Thanks for sharing video/song.

  • Freakin' great song!

  • Thanks God someone at Swingin' Time had the sense to make copies of some of these clips back then. Too cool!

  • great song..i remember seeing The Parliments on Swingin' Time..in matching suits and processed hair..doing "I Want Testify"

  • YES!

  • This was from the Windsor, Ontario after school dance show, "Swingin' Time", hosted by "The Bird", Robin Seymour. Many major acts peformed on this show, whcih were always lip-synched. The local bands were always played live (go figure). On any give day, you had no idea who was performing. Bob Seger, ? and the Mysteriians, Little Carl Carlton, Canned Heat, Temptations, etc.

As for Richard and the YL's, you can really see that New Jersey attitude in their stage presence.
