Technically, Pino's lines are never really hard, the hard part is really being one with the groove and replicate the smoothness of his playing, and you did just that.
@iliachulsky thanks a lot :) i've been listening to these tunes hundreds of times and Pino's playing is just perfect; he holds the groove with so much style, his interaction with the music always bring life to the tunes, pure magic.
(btw D'Angelo's new album should be released 'soon' i just saw 'em live one week ago it was phenomenal :)))
This video affected me so much that last week I bought a set of Fender flatwound 0.55 caliber. I hope you can help me with something, I'd like to play along with these songs and others Pino plays and I saw you use his different tunnings on each vid with the same bass.
So, my question is: Im afraid if I set strings height and neck adjustment with standard tuning, and then go and change it, wont have a proper setting.

@666pbrown Hi Javier,i didn't adjust strings height or trussrod neck once since i put flats and detuned them (i've never been into this low action thing anyway;the electric bass is an amplified acoustic instrument:it has to sound right unplugged, hence the pretty much high action)
Most of the tunes i played along are in C#/F#/B/E or D/G/C/F,difference in tension isn't that drastic. On Badu's Green Eyes, i used C/F/Bb/Eb.Go easy on the right hand plucking that's all.Hope that helps have fun ;)
@666pbrown Hi Javier, thanks for your kind words :)
About flatwounds, i can't say much cause i only bought 2 sets since i began playing bass: the one you can see & hear in this vid (Fender 50/105 if i remember right, bought 'em 8 years ago) and Thomastik-Infeld (light gauge) that u can see in other vids...actually with this kind of setting (highs & high-mids rolled off and slight bass & low-mids boost) u can even use rounds. The main thing if u tune down like here, is to take heavy gauge.
Mate! This is so good! Your playing is immaculate - I actually shed a tear. I'm a big Pino fan and you nailed this. I hope to be as good as you one day. Thanks for putting this up.
Yeah his playing on that track is just incredible;the way he follows the changes while staying in the pocket in a subtle laid-back feel is so classy... 8)
Dammnn man..... so smooth! incredible job! :)

Hey ! your playing here is absolutely perfect, you could replace Pino if he ever got sick before a show :P hehehe.
Seriously, I love what you've done here. And since I'm here I need some advice, what brand of flatwounds would you recommend ?
I have an old precision proyect (not Fender) which Im willing to experiment on different tunnings and would to like to try a good set of flat strings.
Best regards and take care !!
