@Rebornsforlife1 Definately not. A spiny mouse should only share a cage with other spiny mice. Also, most hamsters are solitary in captivity, and are happier with a cage of their own. :)
My spiny mice were brothers; I went to the breeder's house and saw the parents and other siblings. I had them in an aquarium that was pretty large(a bottom of about 2ft by 3ft. I even gave them separate shelters and food dishes. There were no other mice in my appartment, thus no female mice were there. I went to school one day and when I came home, one mouse had killed the other one and was in the process of eating it's internal organs. I was sooo disgusted. Now my one mouse is super aggressive.
a fact about spiney mice: when over croweded they will eat either their own tail or the tail of cage mates, its sorta their way of making room for the rest of the group
I rescued 2 Spinies from a boy who didnt really take care of them properly to say the least and because of this they are missing their tails and are very scittish as a result, they were also very thin when i got them and lacked protein because they werent getting the proper diet
:D Im getting two babies from a breeder soon. Im scared that once i get them something will happen and their tails will fall off, I heard they fall off super easy. o.O
my boys only bite me -.- my husband can hold em and feed and not get bitten....the minute my hand goes near their cage though they try to bite me...and have suceeded many times but nonetheless i love my spineys!
i love spiny mice! he's sooo cute!! :) i love mine :D mines called myrnin :D one of the best pets!

OMG! I want one ! Aren't they hard to find in pet stores???
ceskitty 2 years ago
I think that depends on where you live. If the pet stores don't have them, you could try the internet, maybe someone nearby have some for sale. :)

im taking 1 this saterday are they hard te take care off? And can you keep them in your bedroom or do there droppings smell?
freak9420 2 years ago
They are very easy to keep, and they don't smell as much as regular mice. They are very social though, so maybe you should get it a friend. :)

No, not at all. They might bite, if they're not used to be handled, but that goes for all pets. :)
