  • dg320 riders is always a favorite and i only know him from outworld

  • Amazing tecnhique. Any recommendations on albums/songs of him? Would love to hear this in a musical context.

  • @DG320 Check out Austrian Death Machine's "Let Off Some Steam Bennett" from the album "Double Brutal." One solo destroys a thousand of the hopes you carry within your soul to be awesome like Rusty... and there are three solos...

  • man I got lost after the second "down" : /

  • up up down down left right left right B A select start. YOU HAVE NOW ENTERED RUSTY COOLEY MODE. UNLIMITED SHRED POWER.

  • 1:57 thats pretty sweet

too fucking right it is rusty xD

  • up down left right A start... Selecting Scrap Brain Zone... because my brain is junk after attempting to comprehend how awesome rusty is.

  • heres some emotion, the fuckin embarrassment when an emotional guitarist shits his pants after watching this!

  • Down, down, down, down, down, down, up, up ,up ,up ,up, down, down...

  • First of all, his name says it all...

RUSY COOLEY SHREDS THE FUCK OUT OF AN 8 STRING...

WHO IN THE RIGHT IDEA WOULD MISTAKE IT FOR MICKEY MOUSE CLUB MUSIC???

  • HOLEY TITS! THAT WAS AMAZING!

  • dude can i borrow your fingers and never give it back ever?....

  • finnaly i fucking learned 3 of these. i just need 2 practice them more :)

  • this is standard tuning right?

  • @atreides444

Do you block everybody who doesn't lick your arse?

  • well. you're amazing. anybody who can make their guitar sound like a 90s video game is a winner in my book. :)

  • This dude just smokes! GAWDDAMN! Frank Gambale... Frank is still the KING of sweeping, but this dude is awesome! Maybe he studied at GIT with Frank???

  • @zzlong55 he's self taught

  • if fast=no emotion, ill go drown 1000 puppies every second for the next 6 days. no emotion.

  • @atriuo what is emotion, please explain, everyone always says, " he isnt playing with soul!" what does it mean? seriously you can't answer, what am i suppose to cry everytime i play guitar or smile? i enjoy playing alot and every time i play with my band or by myself i put my "soul" into it. but my face looks like a brick. i can promise you Willie Alder or even Paul Gilbert put more "soul" into their extremely fast solos than any other guitarist.

  • idk how anyone can say his sweeping has no emotion. his sweeping compositions are second only to becker, imo. if the sweeping in "Piece of Mind" doesnt send a chill through your spine, then you really shouldnt bother commenting on his playing because you dont get it

  • @Wyvernx you actually can if you play it right you can express a lot of emotion through sweep arpeggios

  • i wish all the demonstrations were fast! Too badass!!

  • WTF o.O hrhr Alexi Laiho can go home xD his sweeps are much fuster xDDD and they are so fucking awesome xD

  • @Drumhead1993 xD ... xDD ... xDxD

  • emotion emotion emotion emotion emotion emotion emotion emotion!!

    Rusty fucking owns \m/

  • @lilticklez Enjoy the block.

  • @atreides444 you realize he was mocking the comments saying "play with emotion" right?

  • @Wyvernx You're right man. Rustys fucking awesome.. I dont know how people expect to have him display emotion in sweep picking.. You just cant put emotion into sweep picking. Im waiting for this homo uploader to block me, even though I was agreeing with his point in the first place.. :p

  • Is this from a dvd of his?

  • Stop making stupid statements about the "feeling" stuff, sweeping is just a tool for your playing, use it in a melodic way and your set. I bet Rusty is just showing off a bit, I doubt he would use excessive sweeping for a whole song

  • hahaha i was watching this and was like wonder how it sounds fast, wish i wasnt so curious, ears have been shredded off

  • Whats that guitar called? Is it from the dx series??

  • @BarneyTee

    *Cough* Jason Becker *Cough*

*continued coughing* Serrana, Altitudes,Perpetual Burn* coughing still goes on*

    *sneeze1*Jason Becker> Every Fucking *sneeze 2* Thing *Sneeze *

  • I was stuck in traffic yesterday and just kinda thought it would be fun to masturbate. It was sunny and clear out, so I was worried one of the other drivers would see me, but my Jeep is pretty high off the ground, so I think no one noticed. I busted a nut and aimed it down, ruining my tweety bird floor mat. I felt kinda stupid after and my mom kept silent the rest of the drive home. It was awkward and I regret it.

  • Hey atreides444 is that a rg7620 rusty is playin?

  • Everyone rips on him yet he's so good! Not just fast

  • Imagine him saying "up, down, up, down, pull off, hammer.." at that speed!

  • gotta love ol' rusty, in all his unnatural glory lol

  • i seen rusty pull off some shawn lane style shredding with alot of color to it waz awesome!

  • He's having a hard time playing it slowly. Rusty is the man.

  • Rusty is just about the best sweep picker I've ever seen with possibly only Tom Hess rivalling him for sheer and utter excellence.

I'm a big YJM fan but I don't reckon Yngwie can sweep like Rusty.

  • hell ya man. jason was and still is the best.

  • thanks master nice classes

  • He spent :50 seconds explaining the first part but 3 seconds playing it that is just scary im no where near even half a string on any of my guitars as good as him but come on thats not fair to us other guitar players this man is rediculus i understand the feeling thing but when your that good who cares i sure as hell wouldnt... lol

  • Most that aspire to play this way are into metal music, which is mostly aggresive which comes from a different emotional center than the feel good hippie days of the slow pickers, I'm positive Rusty could play any "feeling" oriented guitar part but this has been his ambition and evidently many others to push themselves to technical greatness. Open your mind beyond your own little world of what you prefer. Your opinion only matters when everyone elses matters to you.

  • Yeah, most are but some of us need the technical skill to play classical pieces by rachmaninov or alkan pieces

playing chopins fantasie impromptu with all picking can be a frightening prospect without an awesome command of intricate technical turns

like pick rescuing when playing economy or skeletal arp independance et al

  • Amazing... But why would u have to be this fast?

  • to play music

  • you don't need good technique to play music lol

  • @RevilationGuitar91 Yeah you do.

Consistent vibrato and constancy of pressure in fretting. Good playing and volume dynamics

    ...hell, tuning a guitar

    All of these are technique

Unless you think a kid playing an out of tune nirvana cover hammering the strings with an amp that sounds like a bee in a jam jar is music

  • when i say good technique i mean that you don't need to shred at 1000000000bpm to it... Listen example stevie ray vaughan and other blues guitarist and larry carlton.. They plays music but they doesn't have that good technique (shredding at 100000000bpm)..

  • @RevilationGuitar91 you DO need good technique, otherwise it sounds bad.

This Rusty Cooley guy can play 10 TIMES BETTER EVERYTHING Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan can play, with more emotion, feel and precision. And this guy has 1000000000x more feel than BB King and Eric Clapton. And no, even when rusty cooley play slow, he can say more in 1 note than EVERY SINGLE guitarist mentioned as the best guitarist in Rolling stone maganize can play in 100 notes.

  • @bobbygrunge in this kind of music you need good technique but you don't need good technique to sound good and musical. In heavy metal you need.

  • No, but you do need good technique to express your musical ideas properly.

  • if your musical ideas is meant to played in 10000bpm yes =)

  • FYI, you apparently can't if you think most shredders exceed around 220ish bpm (with certain exceptions)

It is far more common to see sextuplet patterns at 166 bpm than 16th notes at 250 or 32nds at 135 as opposed to 16th notes at 270.

What if you want to play death/thrash metal which requires a very solid and often quite fast picking technique? Are you saying you should be a blues wanker who plays a single fucking scale at like 60 bpm?

    Screw off =/

  • no no no, you got me wrong now =) I was just saying that you don't need good technique for playing MUSIC.. I didn't talk anything about the genre, of course metal and other hard rock stuff needs good and fluid technique to play but if you listen slow blues and other stuff like that, theres not shredding in 220bps but it still sounds music =)

  • Well on that point, yes you don't need -good- technique to play music, but your technique should be as good as you need it to be to express those musical ideas fully.

  • in metal absolutely yes :)

  • Comment removed

  • To be different (better) than all the doushebags that only know how to play the Minor Pentatonic scale.

  • @HolyReprisal why not? when u can play this fast, u can play both slow and this fast. when u can't play fast, u only can play slow. which one got better choice?

  • @bobbygrunge Very true man. That was a year ago when i posted that. I've actually improved a lot, although Rusty is still god.

  • best guitarist ever!

  • have you ever heard of michael angelo datio. apparently not so look into him if u want sweeps and emotion.

  • apparently you haven't either...how about getting his name right

  • lol, Datio...

  • Awesome, thanks for posting!

  • i like his hair

  • WHAT, fuck you rusty cooley and your amazing abilities

  • how the fuck is that physically possible!?

  • Is there a phisical limit to how fast you can play guitar or what? And has Rusty reached it yet, do you think?

  • actually,i think this guy may have reached the limit.very impressive playing.

  • First 50 seconds: Okay, I'm getting this.

51-53: Damn it Rusty Cooley. Damn it.

  • I thought i owned at sweep picking , until i saw this vid

  • What video is this from?

  • un-fuckin-believable speed!

  • IBANEZ!

  • BC RICH!

  • you really just said that right now? hahahaha those are cheap guitars for metalheads in their wife beaters and camo shorts, go play some Slipknot fag.hahahhahah

  • what the fuck is your problem?

    also:i dont like modern metal,only old school-corpse,slayer,testament,incantation,nile,sinister,forbidden,etc

and last but not least, insults like "fag" dont bother me,im 31 years old for fuck sakes.

  • hahahah sorry I thought you wre one of those 16 year oolds that think there so cool because they like disturbed and faggy slipknot my bad dude.

  • im assuming you thought i was putting down ibanez...the opposite is true, ive been wanting one for years, same with jackson.

im lucky to have my warlock which ive had for about 12 years now.

    but yeah,apology accepted bud.

  • yeah sorry dude,

I thought you were putting down ibanez, Jackson is really nice if you get the expensive ones I've had bad experiences with ones under 500

  • i didnt come here to fuckin argue with anyone,i came here to improve my playing skills so you can all go fuck yourselves.

  • what tuning he have?

  • he have my dick down ur throat bitch...DIE!!!!!!! now bedan el 3gele....ps my name is abdelrahman amr safwat

  • flat tuning, semi tone down

  • Yeah, that was easy.

    For Rusty I mean.

  • O.O

  • there's a sweet new site you can ask Rusty Cooley questions and get video answers. It's on Fret12, take a look ....it's really sweet

  • i dont think rusty appreciates you whining about stupid things on his video commentaries,he is teaching guitar, not holding a language debate.

  • there's no feeling lol sorry just responding to the vid info..rofl!!

  • how long does it take a person to develop such speed?

  • about 3 centuries

  • ok,fuck you then...give me an asshole answer...

  • yo chill out dude...it depends on how much and long and hard u practice

  • im not upset...

  • hmmm...the terms fuck you and asshole usually convey feelings of anger..

  • nah,i was calm,i calmly told you off

    OK,FUCK YOU THEN.... is anger,haha

but you did answer me so its all good, even if i did have to reach farther to get it.

  • I can give you a better answer than ozzy9691 did. The answer to your question about how long it takes to develop such speed. The answer is....with your dumbass attitude.....never.

  • and i can give you a better response:

    go fuck yourself douchebag.

also, shove that thumb down up your sorry ass.

  • my my my....you are an angry little man aren't you? HAHAHA!!! I know you're just upset because you'll never amount to pimple on a real guitarists ass. Well, bless your little heart. :-( Here's another thumbs down for you son.

  • believe what you want,im not angry, but i can clearly see that you are immature.

  • Ummm, okay, yeah. I'm immature. People can read your posts of you cussing (F*@$ you, F&#$ you then) like a little whiney brat and being a smartass (ooh, I cussed too, I said ass) and clearly see you are the immature one. Now, go away little boy. Bye bye.

  • ok,how is "cussing" immature,are you christian?

i do not find such words offensive or immature....shut up already, for fuck sakes.

  • Dude... No. No. No.

You fail to see how much you sound exactly like the stereotypical f-bomb dropping, punctuation lacking, vocabulary and people skills lacking youtube commenter right now.

And that's what makes you immature.

  • shut the FUCK up you motherFUCKIN COCKsucker.

  • That's right. Just keep making my point for me.

  • well at least im not ugly like kus om abdo

  • huh?

  • i love playling with feeling but theres those guitarist with undeniable skill. Rusty Cooley is one of them. his licks, speed, and sweeps are amazing. this dude is fucking good at what he does.

  • Rusty "The Flash" COOLey

  • waht that fuck is this Men!! ohHH Men please

  • a true mother fuckin shredder....

  • i just jizzed in my pants, Rusty is my hero

  • tabs tabs tabs pls pls pls!!!!!!!

  • awesome lesson and awesome guitarist

  • i hate those "well so and so doesnt play with feeling" people. also known as they dont practice

  • I believe he has Herman Li beat on speed.

  • Herman Li can't play fast. He can immitate it poorly with extreme innacuracy but not play fast. AT ALL.

Fuck, he really sucks. Blows hard big time.

I taught one of my novice students to play some of his material better than him within a year.

    HERMAN FUCKING SUCKS, k?

  • I completely agree. Herman is a joke, his technique is sloppy, non-ergonomic, inefficient, inarticulate, and just plain funny to watch, considering how bad it is.

Watching his live playing is one of those experiences where you wish you weren't watching, just so the poor guy would know there was ONE less person watching him make a fool of himself.

  • seriously i agree

i had a student who wanted to learn a few songs from him and all it was is Gimmicks. stuff that a Intermediate player can figure out.

hes just great in the eyes of those Guitar Hero kids which isnt bad but i mean when you compare him to a professional....yeah

  • I like Rusty and I've learned loads from his vids, but I have to say his tone in his instructionals is uniformly godawful. I have no idea what amp he's playing through at home but it sucks. He sounds *way* better through his live rig.

That being said, the dude kicks my ass, LOL. Amazing technique and lots of great ideas.

  • You awesome. Great lessons.

    P.S.

I bet Yngwie hates your guts lol.

  • i need to go practice

  • ibanez rg7620 grey nickel

  • ibanez rg7620 nickel gray

  • do you know where get the tabs for this licks ?or is it just the video ?

  • I removed the tabs from the description a while back.

  • different sound, the first album was written on ibanez guitars

  • I miss the rusty playing on ibanez

  • why does it matter what guitar he plays?

  • well the sound ¬¬.......

  • thanks for posting these!

did you buy these off cfh website??

  • no, they're from a guitar magazine that was released 2-3 years ago

  • I have seen the dvd on chops from hell of this, so yeah, originally it is from Chops From Hell, I'm not sure if it was in a magazine or not, but I know that for sure :D

  • Rusty Cooley's Shred Workout From Hell

it was released in guitar techniques magazine late 2006

I'll remove this video if it is actually from CFH

    I'll check

  • Mkay :) I might have just seen something similiar, I'm not sure, but yeah :)
