  • I own a Vintage Ross Super Gran Tour XV road bike rolling on a 27x1(1/4) ARAYA rims and i want a new wheelset but couldn't find 27" anymore & i'm thinking to use a 700c for both front & rear wheels. What do you adjust/change in order to replace a 27" to a 700c wheels? I know i have to change the hubs & the rims for the 700c wheelset. But must i change my brakes too? I'm using Shimano 600 groupsets. Can Shimano 600 brakes be adjusted to fit the 700c wheelset? I need to be sure of this. Thanks.

  • @rzfrsm I have several vintage bikes with 7ooC conversions. All worked without changing the brakes. You simple need to take the bike to a shop and have them test-fit a set of 700c wheels and see if the brake pads can be adjusted farther down. 700c wheels are slightly smaller in diameter. When you look at the side of your calipers, if the pads can be lowered then probably you can do it.

  • @earltuckian There are very high quality 27x tires still available, and tons of wheel sets remain in NOS and on eBay for example. Very cheap prices for high quality stuff.. The most popular 27x tires are called Panasonic paselas. I use them on my vintage Schwinn Paramounts. Thank you for watching.
